Every night in Jinan University in Guangzhou, a group of students plays diabolo (空竹) as a crowd watches on in amazement. Chen Zhelun, 25, a Malaysian-Chinese started the diabolo club, which helps to increase the popularity of this traditional Chinese game. He is one of many students expressing their interest in the country’s cultural heritage (遗产) by starting clubs. The diabolo, which came from China, is popular among Chinese living in Malaysia. “We played diabolo from primary school onward. I thought I could find someone to play with in China, but only a few students knew about it. So I started a club to develop it,” says Chen. To Chen’s surprise, the old game has interested a huge crowd—more than 1,000 students have joined the club. “It keeps your body strong and it’s fun, says Chen.”

The members of Lanting Calligraphy Club are writing Chinese characters with traditional brushes. Fan Dongling, 21, a student in Shenzhen University, says it’s a shame that young people no longer enjoy the beauty of Chinese characters. Although her club is quiet, Fan says it keeps members healthy, mentally and physically.
“Some students think traditional things are outdated. They like celebrating Western festivals like Christmas or Valentine’s Day, but they seldom pay attention to traditional ones,” says Kong Yanquan,21, a student in Guangxi University. Why do you seldom see windows in supermarkets It’s no accident that supermarkets don’t have windows. 32
One of them is that it’s a try to keep people inside longer. “The owners want to create a separate environment within their stores, where the outside world cannot be noticed,” explains Andrei Vasilescu, a shopping expert. “Your attention won’t be taken away by the rain or the sunshine. You may even forget the fact that someone is waiting for you outside.” 33 It really helps create an “immersive (沉浸式的)” shopping experience, for better or worse.
34 That’s because some food can become bad faster in sunlight. Nobody wants to buy anything not fresh. Too much sunshine can even make some products look not as new as before. What’s more, having windows in their stores would take up the space to place products. Outer walls are always stronger. “So the walls can hold the heavier objects on the shelves.” says Margine Biswas, a building expert.
Not to mention, windows are expensive and the owners of supermarkets want to keep the building costs lower. 35 It is possible that bad guys would enter their stores by breaking windows.
A.Products can hang on the walls.
B.There are some reasons behind this fact.
C.Besides, windows could not be safe enough.

五、任务型阅读(满分10分,每题2分)
阅读下面对话,按要求完成各小题。
The memories are like a river. Every sweater she knitted (编织) for me was a piece of art. Every single meal she cooked for me was so delicious. The hide-and-seek was so enjoyable and unforgettable. All the nights when my parents worked in the UK, I fell asleep with Grandma by my side. All the songs she taught me made me happy and excited.
Some of the foods she fed me were home-grown. She believed that the sun is good for my health. So she often took me to the garden. The sun was shining and the birds were singing happily. I usually helped water the garden, or just chatted with her. Most of the time, she left me exploring. Sometimes she threw to me several newly-unearthed earthworms (蚯蚓), which would keep me excited for a whole day. When we were tired, she used to carry in one hand a big tomato, and held my hand with the other. “Let’s go to the kitchen and the big tomato will be your lunch,” she said.
She went back to her home when I was in the fifth year at primary school. “What is my grandson going to eat Maybe I should stay for another year,” She repeated the same words almost every day before leaving, showing the deep worry about me.
During the ten years with me, her black hair turned grey. Returned as she has, I can still feel her around all the time, the noodles I had for breakfast, the fresh home-grown tomatoes and eggplants as well as the handmade meatballs and fish balls, all of which are filled with her taste. I love my grandma most because she knows me best.
Whenever I miss my dear grandma, her picture always came up in my mind at once: busy watering the plants in the garden, and her gray hair blown up by the soft wind. In her bee-like life, Grandma will always be there waiting for my visit and missing me.

Why Should School Breaks Be Longer
There are a lot of advantages of longer school breaks for students.
First, longer breaks are good for students’ health. They have more time to go outside, breathe fresh air, and do physical activities, which helps them stay active and healthy. Second, longer breaks are also good for learning. After a good rest, students can focus better in class and feel more energetic.
In my opinion, longer breaks are a great way to balance study and relaxation. I feel happier and more productive when I have enough time to relax during the day.
