A volunteer is a person who does something for other people or for an organization, willingly and without being forced or paid to do it. Nowadays more and more people choose to be volunteers to make a difference.

Language Points
1. make a difference
make a difference 表示“有影响;起作用;带来变化”, difference前可以加形容词修饰。
make a difference + in/to + [领域/对象] (在...方面产生影响/对...产生影响)
e.g. Your support made a big difference to me.
(你的支持对我帮助巨大。)
It makes no difference to me whether we go today or tomorrow.(我们今天去还是明天去,对我来说都一样。)
2. visit the elderly
elderly 形容词,表示“上了年纪的;年老的”,用于描述人。 the elderly表示 “老年人” 这一群体,常作复数概念。
e.g. Many communities have programs to help the elderly.
(许多社区有帮助老年人的项目。)
The elderly need more care and attention.
(老年人需要更多的关爱和关注。)
3. I guide visitors through the museum and provide information about the paintings.
provide 动词,表示“提供;给予”,一般为及物动词。
provide sth. for sb.(为某人提供某物)
provide sb. with sth.(给某人提供某物)
e.g. The school provides free textbooks for all students.
(学校为所有学生提供免费课本。)
She provided us with useful information about the volunteer project.(她给我们提供了关于志愿项目的有用信息。)
还可以后接名词作宾语表示“直接提供具体事物 / 服务”
e.g. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi and breakfast.
(酒店提供免费 Wi-Fi 和早餐。)
