Last Friday night, a snowstorm hit our town at 2 a．m. and finally stopped at 2 p．m. It was so heavy that all the roads were covered with thick snow. Thirty six students were late in our class because it took a long time to walk to school. Many young people volunteered to meet at the town centre to clean up the main roads as quickly as possible. In some neighbourhoods of our town, the water was cut off because of the low temperature. The news suggested that we should stay at home, wear warm clothes and walk or drive slowly on the road. Luckily, no one has got hurt in our town so far.

Being in a flood is very dangerous. Floods move very fast. They can pull trees out of the ground, and bring buildings and bridges down. Here are some suggestions for you during a flood. Firstly, don't try to walk or swim through floodwater. It's very dangerous to be in the fast moving water which carries lots of rubbish. Secondly, move to the highest floor if you are in a flooded building, and call for help. Thirdly, stay away from power lines, as wind and water can suddenly knock them down during strong storms and floods. Lastly, never drink flood water or use it to wash dishes, brush teeth, or prepare food. Use clean and safe water, such as boiled water, for drinking and cooking.
