In the 1960s, many people in China did not have enough food to eat. Yuan Longping wanted to change this. He planned to explore new kinds of rice that could grow more grain. His work was not easy. He worked in the hot sun in the rice fields every day. He met many difficulties: bad weather, failed tests, and not enough help at first. But he never gave up. He kept working and trying new ideas. At last, he succeeded. He made hybrid rice. This rice grew much more grain than before. Thanks to his work, many people in China and around the world had enough food to eat.
In my opinion, Yuan Longping was a true hero. He had a strong spirit of exploration. He worked hard to help others, and his work changed many people’s lives. We should learn from his perseverance and love for people.
