Teenagers have long been told that being active and taking part in various sports is good for their health. But new research suggests that too much sport for teenagers could negatively affect their well-being just as much as too little sport.
Researchers from Switzerland say their study suggests that 14 hours of physical activity a week is best for promoting good health in teenagers. However, they found that more than 14 hours appears to be detrimental to their health. To reach their findings, the researchers surveyed more than 1,245 teenagers aged between 16 and 20 from Switzerland.
All participants were required to answer questions on height and weight, sports practice, sports injuries and well-being. Their well-being was assessed (评估) using the World Health Organization (WHO) Well-Being Index, and the average well-being score for all participants was 17.
The researchers divided sports participation into low (0-3.5 hours a week), average (3.6-10.5 hours), high (10.6-17.5 hours), and very high (more than 17.5 hours). The researchers found that participants in the low and very high activity groups were more than twice as likely to have well-being scores below 13, compared with participants in the average group. The researchers found that the highest well-being scores were gotten by participants who carried out around 14 hours of physical activity a week, but exercising beyond 14 hours resulted in lower well-being scores.
Commenting on their findings, the researchers say physical activity has been connected with positive emotional well-being, reduced sadness, anxiety and stress disorders, and improved self-respect in teenagers.
The researchers suggest that their study stresses the importance for physicians caring for teenagers to check their level of sports practice and ask them about their well-being. Teenagers probably need a supportive and closer follow-up of their health and well-being. The findings can provide information for guideline groups who produce recommendations on sports practice for teenagers.

A.Normal. B.Helpful. C.Harmful. D.Necessary.

In my early teens, I was once given a film camera as a gift. On receiving it, I jumped on my bike, headed to Wimbledon Common and took photos, just for me: photos of trees and wildlife. I was out all day. On my way home I spotted a tree lit up by street lighting and tried to capture its splendour (壮观). Rushing home, I popped the exposed film in a special little envelope and sent it off to a photography store, desperate to see how it came out. I took many photos then and loved the fact that when I processed the film I got back colour photos which froze the precious moments, gently encouraging the hobby and the payments for processing.
As I grew into adulthood, that simple, deep happiness gradually faded away. One weekend when I was busy answering the work calls, my eyes caught a box in the corner of the room. I suddenly felt a sense of sadness. The stress growing over these years had pushed the camera from beside my pillow to the box in the corner. I thought I needed a change.
I took out the camera and dusted it down. It was a great joy that it still worked. I bought a new film and took the camera everywhere I went. Now it is always on hand to accompany me on journeys, to allow me time to myself. Even if the day is full and busy, I can seize some moments for myself to take photos, to observe the world around me.
The wall of my room now holds all my camera equipment on display, along with photos I’ve taken. To me, the room represents how I’ve found happiness: by reconnecting to the younger part of myself I laid aside, by allowing room in my life for pleasure to exist, and by creating an environment that allows opportunities for delight.
8.What was the main purpose of the author using the camera in his youth
A.To develop professional skills. B.To capture the beauty of nature.
C.To document his school life. D.To participate in photography competitions.
9.How did the author’s feelings towards the camera change as he grew up
A.His interest in photography deepened. B.He felt the camera was just a burden.
C.He gradually forgot about the camera. D.He longed to purchase more advanced equipment.
10.How has the author’s life been since he reused the camera
A.Plain. B.Delightful. C.Desperate. D.Dull.
11.Why does the author display camera equipment and photos in his room
A.To remind him of his happy time. B.To bring happiness to his family.
C.To show off his achievement. D.To record his prizes in younger years.

Increasing evidence suggests that sitting down too much can put our health at risk. According to the NHS, being inactive is linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, some forms of cancer, and early death. Therefore, the NHS advises people to “move more, sit less”. But how often and for how long should we get up and move
Now, researchers based at Columbia University, New York, have an answer: taking a five-minute walking break every half an hour can offset some of the harmful effects of sitting for long periods. The team had a group of 11 participants sit in ergonomic chairs for an eight-hour stretch, getting up only for bathroom breaks or their scheduled walk on a treadmill. The exercise periods tested were one minute of walking after every 30 minutes of sitting, one minute every 60 minutes, five minutes every 30 minutes, five minutes every 60 minutes, and no walking at all.
While sitting, the participants could use their phones or laptops, or read, and were given regular meals. Their blood pressure and blood sugar were checked regularly throughout the study.
The researchers found that any amount of walking reduced blood pressure by 4-5mmHg compared to sitting all day — a significant reduction, as ideal blood pressure is usually considered to be between 90/60mmHg and 120/80mmHg.
Additionally, walking for five minutes every 30 minutes reduced blood sugar spikes (猛增) after meals by more than 50 percent. Walking for one minute every 30 minutes also led to a small reduction in blood sugar spikes. Walking every 60 minutes, whether for one minute or five, had no effect.
“What we know now is that for optimal health, you need to move regularly at work, in addition to a daily exercise routine,” said Diaz. “While that may sound impractical, our findings show that even small amounts of walking spread through the workday can significantly lower your risk of heart disease and other chronic illnesses.”
12.Why is the NHS mentioned in the text
A.To suggest disease prevention methods. B.To stress the seriousness of inactivity.
C.To compare international health data. D.To explain its own research findings.
13.What were the participants required to do during the study
A.Stand up according to a fixed schedule. B.Take breaks freely when needed.
C.Keep moving slowly while sitting. D.Avoid using phones or computers.
14.Which walking pattern best controlled blood sugar after meals
A.Walking for one minute every 60 minutes. B.Walking for five minutes every 60 minutes.
C.Walking for one minute every 30 minutes. D.Walking for five minutes every 30 minutes.
15.What does Diaz’s statement imply
A.Long workouts prevent chronic diseases. B.Daily exercise forms the basis of good health.
C.Movement during work is vital for health. D.Prolonged sitting is unavoidably harmful.

How to Start Mindful Eating
Mindful eating is about waking up to the experience of eating. Experts recommend starting mindful eating gradually. Aim to eat one or a few meals per week in a slower, more attentive way. 16 Here’s a simple practice to help you get into a more mindful eating mindset.
● Prepare with intention.
Before eating, take a moment to acknowledge your hunger level and emotional state. Take a few deep breaths to calm your body and help it shift into “rest and digest” mode. Turn off distractions like your phone, the TV, or your unfinished work. 17
● Engage your senses.
Observe the colors and shapes of your food. 18 As you eat, pay attention to the flavors and how the food feels in your mouth. This sensory awareness can help you feel more satisfied and prevent you from overeating.
● 19
Take small bites and chew each completely. This allows you to fully experience and appreciate the taste and texture of your food, and helps you digest it better.
● Reflect on fullness and satisfaction.
20 This simple act helps you slow down and check in with your body. Aim to stop eating when you’re about 80% full to allow your body enough time to register that you’ve eaten enough.
A.Check your hunger.
B.Eat slowly and chew thoroughly.
C.Put your chopsticks down after each bite.
D.In this way you can focus only on your meal.
E.Breathe in the pleasant smell before taking a bite.
F.Then work your way up to making it a daily habit.
G.Eating mindfully can boost mood and improve food choices.

第二节 (满分25分)
47.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I am a senior one student named Leo. I used to be a total couch potato and I’d rather stick to my classroom seat or dorm bed than step outside for even a minute. For meals, I always reached for instant noodles or fried chicken. After school, I would spend all my time on mobile games until midnight, paying no attention to any kind of physical activity.
As time went by, the situation became worse, and slowly, my body began to send out warnings. Every class felt like a big struggle. I felt sleepy in class all the time, and I could hardly focus on the teacher’s words. My teacher noticed my tired eyes more than once, and finally, she held my arm gently and told me to go to the school doctor for a check-up.
After a thorough examination, the doctor said my poor health was caused by too little exercise, irregular sleep, and an unhealthy diet. She frowned(皱眉) slightly as she warned me that if I didn’t change, it would harm my long-term health.
When my classmate Jason heard about this, he kindly invited me to join the school running club.To be honest, I felt ashamed of my poor fitness. So, his invitation fell on deaf ears. I stuck to my old habits, telling myself I was just“not the sporty type.”I thought I would be fine, but my body didn’t lie.
Last week, we had the regular 800-meter test in PE class. As everyone else lined up, my heart sank. I dragged my feet to the starting line, hoping just to finish. But after only 200 meters, it was as if all the warnings came crashing down on me. I was gasping(喘气) for air, and I had to stop, my face pale not just from effort, but from a sudden, clear realisation of how weak I had become.
注意:
1.续写词数应为 150 左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
It was at that moment that I recalled Jason’s invitation.

Dear Jack,
Knowing that you are interested in Qingming Scroll, I’m willing to introduce it to you.
Painted by Zhang Zeduan, Qingming Scroll is a masterwork of Chinese art, offering an important insight into life in the 12th century. It consists of three main sections, which provide a comprehensive look of what life was like then. This timeless scroll is an important example of realism in the history of Chinese paintings and greatly influenced generations of future artists.
It would be great if you can come to China and appreciate it for yourself.
Yours,
Li Hua
47.例文
It was at that moment that I recalled Jason’s invitation. A wave of regret washed over me. I couldn’t go on like this — my body’s warnings were too loud to ignore. The next afternoon, I found him. “Is that running offer still open ” I asked, nervous yet confident. Jason’s face lit up. “Of course!” he said with a big smile. True to his word, we started running the next morning. It was very hard for me at first. I was soon out of breath, and my legs felt extremely heavy. But Jason stayed by my side, running at a slow, steady speed and reminding me to breathe deeply.
Weeks of regular running brought great changes to my life. Now needing more energy, I stopped staying up for games and went to bed early. Instead of instant noodles and fried chicken, I chose healthier meals. I began to feel the difference — not only in my body, but also in my focus during class. I even managed to finish the next 800-meter test with ease. Jason cheered loudly for me. Soon I joined the running club. I’ve learned that the most important changes in life come not from one big jump, but from countless small steps — taken with a friend who cares enough to run beside you.
