He hurried over and saw her propped weakly against the doorframe, her thin frame trembling in the cold wind and rain. “Grandma!” he choked out, his voice cracking. She handed him a thick blanket to wipe the water off, her eyes glistening with relief. “You’re soaked, my boy,” she murmured faintly. Tom held up the unblemished bag proudly, “I brought your bread and milk.” A soft sigh escaped her lips as she gazed at the bag.
