China’s vision of achieving harmony between humanity and nature is not only benefiting the nation but also offering a new path for global sustainable development. The core concept, that clear waters and green mountains are valuable assets, was first proposed in 2005. This idea marked the beginning of a new chapter in China’s pursuit of ecological conservation and green development, guiding the nation’s progress for nearly two decades.
This ecological approach corrects the old model of“polluting first and cleaning up later” that some developed nations once followed. It is deeply rooted in the
traditional Chinese belief that humanity should exist in harmony with nature. Guided by this principle, China has successfully balanced economic growth with
environmental protection. For instance, the country has achieved significant economic expansion while effectively controlling its increase in energy consumption, proving
that protecting the environment can go hand-in-hand with developing the economy.
The practical benefits of this green philosophy are evident. Large-scale
implementation of the concept has played a key role in the nation’s poverty
alleviation efforts. New models like eco-agriculture and ecotourism have helped lift nearly 100 million rural residents out of poverty, achieving a major United Nations goal ten years ahead of schedule. This success demonstrates that improving the
natural environment can directly improve people's livelihoods and create economic value.
试卷第 4 页,共 14 页
Furthermore, China has become a world leader in renewable energy, making significant contributions to global growth in non-fossil energy consumption. Its
experience provides both theoretical and practical guidance for other developing
countries. It shows them that it is possible to develop economically without
sacrificing the environment, offering a valuable alternative to the traditional path of industrialization. This model of ecological development and poverty alleviation has offered the world a new way to use green solutions to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable growth.
Experts emphasize that ecological civilization cannot be achieved by one nation alone; it requires broad international cooperation. China’s active participation in
global green initiatives reflects its commitment to sharing its experience and working with the international community. The nation’s journey demonstrates that a
commitment to green development can lead to prosperity, offering inspiration and hope for a more sustainable future for all.
24 .What is the main purpose of the text
A .To argue that economic growth is more important than environmental protection.
B .To introduce China’s ecological concept and its global significance.
C .To criticize the environmental policies of developed nations.
D .To provide a detailed history of China's economic development.
25 .What can be inferred from China’s success in poverty alleviation
A .International financial aid is the only way to end poverty.
B .Environmental protection can be a tool for creating economic wealth.
C .Developing countries must copy China’s exact methods to succeed.
D .Traditional agriculture is no longer useful in modern society.
26 .How does the article describe China’s ecological concept
A .As a modern reflection of traditional Chinese philosophy.
B .As a political slogan with little practical effect.
C .As an idea borrowed directly from Western experts.
D .As a completely new theory without historical roots.
试卷第 5 页,共 14 页
27 .What does China’s experience offer to other developing nations
A .Proof that environmental protection harms economic growth.
B .An alternative model to balance growth and environmental protection.
C .A faster way to industrialize without any rules.
D .A guarantee of receiving international support.

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei officially launched the 2.0 version of its self-developed operating system (OS) on Wednesday night, the HarmonyOS. The move paved the way for the Chinese firm to challenge Google’s and Apple’s role in
current and future OS ecosystems.
Among the major strong points, the HarmonyOS, with a highly scalable (可扩展的) platform, can be applied to various devices, including smart phones, computers, and other electronic devices, the company said.
Analysts said the OS will do a lot to promote Huawei’s change into being a
software service provider. Huawei’s founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei said that the
company was focusing on software because future development in the field was
basically “out of US control and we will have greater independence and autonomy (自主权)”. Ren called on the company’s staff to “dare to lead the world” in software.
“The success of a software system will always have to rely on hardware (硬件), but nowadays, Huawei doesn’t have enough hardware to support its software
ambitions — that’s the most difficult part,” said Jiang Junmu, chief writer at a news website. Once as the world’s largest smart phone maker, Huawei’s national smart
phone market share (份额) has continued to drop in recent months. Liang Zhenpeng, an industry analyst, said that as an OS designed for the Internet of Things(IoT) era, the HarmonyOS may need more time and equipment to test than the OS for smart
phones, and that will take at least two to three years.
Moreover, Liang noted that an ecosystem will always be the decisive factor for the success of an operating system. “Does the HarmonyOS have enough applications that can attract consumers to update to the OS That’s a question,” Liang said. So far,
试卷第 6 页,共 14 页
more than 300 application and service partners, 1000 hardware partners, and 500,000 developers have joined in the set-up of the Harmony ecosystem.
28 .What advantage does the HarmonyOS have over other operating systems
A .It provides users with a secure experience.
B .It operates faster than Google system.
C .It works on a wide range of equipment.
D .It has different versions in different countries.
29 .What can you infer from Ren Zhengfei’s words
A .Huawei’s change is challenging.
B .Huawei is seeking a new software service provider.
C .The company’s staff need to improve their skills.
D .Huawei will break its dependence on the US.
30 .What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about
A .The difficulties in promoting the HarmonyOS.
B .The success of developing the HarmonyOS.
C .Smartphone sales in the national market.
D .The future software ambition of Huawei.
31 .What does Liang expect partners and developers to do
A .Create enough applications.
B .Update the original devices.
C .Cooperate with experts in various fields.
D .Build the HarmonyOS ecosystem.

After a year of severe drought, California has seen an abundance of rain since
late autumn. Abby Wines, a ranger (护林员) at Death Valley National Park in
southern California, predicted that the heavy rainfall would bring us the opportunity to witness one of nature’s most spectacular displays of color and life — a superbloom — in 2023.
A superbloom refers to a large amount of wildflower growth that exceeds the
试卷第 7 页,共 14 页
average level for a typical spring. It is actually a rare phenomenon that usually takes place in exceptionally wet winters. Seeds that may have slept in desert soil for years finally receive enough water to blossom in more abundant numbers than you would see in a typical year.
The sight of the superbloom is truly breathtaking. Fields of gold, orange, and
purple flowers stretch as far as the eye can see, creating a blanket of colors that can be seen from space.
However, climate change makes the phenomenon increasingly rare. In the
distant past, these blooms were often excellent and enormous. As development pushes farther out, more landscapes have been changed to agriculture, and as invasive plants outcompetes the native seedlings, many of California’s spring flower fields are
disappearing. In addition, thousands of tourists sometimes step on the flowers and soil, which harms the plant’s ability to adapt and thrive.
Naomi Fraga, director of conservation at the California Botanic Garden, points out that in promoting these locations where massive blooms take place, there isn’t a lot of additional information about how these are actually very fragile (脆弱的)
ecosystems. Instead of promoting and sharing specific locations, it’s important to
educate the public about the fragility of the ecosystems and the importance of staying on trails which people are allowed to enter.
32 .What is the key to a superbloom according to Abby Wines
A .Desert soil. B .Warm climate.
C .Sufficient rainfall. D .High-quality seeds.
33 .What does the underlined word “exceeds” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A .Equals to. B .Goes beyond.
C .Cuts down. D .Sets up.
34 .What is paragraph 4 mainly about
A .Reasons for the superbloom being rare.
B .Factors in plants’ adapting to the environment.
C .The relationship between climate and plants growing.
试卷第 8 页,共 14 页
D .The effect of agricultural development on plants flowering.
35 .What does Naomi Fraga advocate
A .Promoting local tourism by advertising superblooms.
B .Recommending tourists perfect trails to enjoy a superbloom.
C .Strengthening the management of California Botanic Garden.
D .Leading the public to focus more on the ecological environment.

One night, Ryder saw his mother crying and learned she could no longer afford her last chemotherapy (化疗) treatment. He broke his piggy bank and offered her all his savings. Although it touched Annie’s heart, she told him it wasn’t enough. Ryder was so disappointed and hurried to the washroom to cry alone. It hurt him terribly to see his mother, who had long hair, and was now bald (秃头的) .
In an attempt to emotionally support her, Ryder brought an electric shaver and shaved his head. “Oh my God, Ryder!” Annie cried after seeing him. She was moved by what her son had done by sacrificing his hair. “Mom, I am with you in this. And you are not alone,” Ryder cried along, knowing little he would be laughed at by his
best friends the next day.
A school fair had been organized on the playground, and many people,
including parents, were gathering around the stalls (摊位). “Hey, look, someone in our class has lost all his hair!” Ryder’s friends laughed when he arrived.
“I got to carry on,” said Ryder, shyly covering his head in a hat. He was
carrying two bags stuffed with some of his favorite toys, books, and recycled craft items he intended to sell at the fair.
As time passed, things were quickly getting sold in all the other stalls except
Ryder’s. He did not find time to put up a fancy display or banner (横幅) to attract
buyers. But he was determined to make a sale for his mother. So he took out a pen and a giant piece of paper and decided to create a sign that read: Help My Mom Fight
Cancer.
“Please help me. I shaved my head to support my mother. But all are making
fun of me without understanding me. And I have to sell these items and help her with some money. Please don’t let me down,” he shouted. The fair was about to end, and

Good afternoon to all the students, parents, and staff in this hall. In my years working here, four as a teacher and another three as an art department leader, I’ve never seen such a talented
graduating class. Over the last two weeks, we’ve seen hundreds of wonderful art projects, from outdoor photo journals to modern paintings that cover the entire walls of the passage to this hall.
Plus, given that my specific area in the arts is fashion design, they didn’t learn all that from me!
To be honest, all the parents and students here have every reason to feel proud. And next, I’d like to present the following student artists who have been awarded the chance to show their projects and give a short speech to the audience. To begin with, we have James Smith with an
amazing Roman-inspired sculpture piece.Next, Jane Goodman will follow him with a short film.
And finally, Michael Watts will present some mixed-media art created with the computer. Here, at RISD, we consider all art to be an expression of oneself, one’s passion, and the experience of life. So, let’s put this expression on display. Please, welcome to the stage, our first artist with his
project.
