一、完形填空:本大题共10小题,共10分。
The lift was out of order, so even though it was a cool autumn afternoon, I was sweating (流汗) all over by the time I 1 my seventh-floor apartment. As soon as I got inside, I rushed straight for the 2 and took out my favorite iced corn juice—ready to drink it.
Just then, Mom came out of the bedroom and 3 me at that moment. “Ah, no!” she said. “It’s not that hot today. Don’t drink something so 4 . Let me pour you some hot water.”
“But I’m sweating all over!” I disagreed.
“I’m afraid your liver (肝) fire is too high.”
Mom’s words reminded me of a popular 5 from this past summer. In the video, a mother keeps pushing her son to have sponge gourd (丝瓜) soup 6 it’s “good for your health”, but the son keeps saying no until his mother says, “Your liver fire must be too high. Have some sponge gourd soup. It can help take away the 7 !”
The video quickly drew millions of views. Parents everywhere love to give these “for your own good” tips, but children everywhere are 8 hearing them.
Actually, these expressions stand for our parents’ love for us. Many of them want to stay close to us but often find 9 too old to keep up. My mom, for example, once misunderstood my “Broken” emoji (表情) on WeChat as a serious head injury (受伤). To keep talking, she uses “high liver fire”.
Perhaps we should 10 treasure our parents’“ liver-fire” love. Next time, I will try to think about my parents’ feelings, not just my own.

My friend Jess and I spent a few weeks looking for summer jobs in shops and fast-food restaurants. We soon realized we wanted something more exciting and decided to start our own business instead. The idea actually came from something we did last year.
Both of us love to dance and took lessons together years ago. One day, my aunt asked if we could organize a girls’ dance party for my cousin’s birthday. We agreed and prepared a fun program: first, we performed a short dance show, then taught the girls some dancing steps. Since it was a girls’ party, we also brought nail polish (指甲油). Everyone enjoyed it so much!
Inspired by that success, we thought about how to make our parties even better. We visited the library to borrow books on magic tricks and paper folding. Jess’s uncle taught us how to turn balloons into animal shapes and gave us beanbags and a juggling (杂技) book. Jess practiced a lot and became quite good at juggling.
Later, we were invited to organize a Canada Day party. Before long, we were busy almost every week with birthday parties, and even playing with kids at family barbecues. People loved what we did! We also began offering cakes and snacks through my aunt, who works as a baker.
Now we have our own website (网站) and run our business all year round, planning one party each week. We call it “Jess ‘n’ Jacki Party Planners.” We really enjoy being our own bosses, working as a team, and sharing what we love with others. What a wonderful journey!

Have you ever noticed birds singing in the morning Birds have their own special language, made up of calls, songs, and melodies (旋律). Birds make these sounds using a very small part in their throats called the syrinx (鸣管). Each sound has its meaning, helping birds communicate with one another.
Some loud calls tell others that danger is near. Others are cries for help. Baby birds call for their mothers when they need food or protection. Although their calls are quiet, they can still be clearly heard near their homes. Even after leaving homes, small birds often continue using these calls—because mother is always there. Birds also use contact calls to check on friends, stay together, or share news about tasty food. Mid-flight calls are different. Many of these sounds are also highly musical. Scientists often use them to tell different kinds.
So why do birds sing early in the morning It’s a way of showing off their strength! Male birds sing early in the morning to show they are strong and healthy. Since birds usually feed during the day, the mornings are the time when they are hungriest and weakest. By singing at this time, they show they are full of energy and ready for action. These songs help them find partners and protect their living areas.
Sweet birdsong has always touched people’s hearts. Many musicians, like Vivaldi and Beethoven were inspired (启发) by birds and used their melodies in their music. If you want to learn birdsong yourself, just go outside and listen carefully. Bring a handbook, and with some practice and patience, you can discover the secret of birdsong.

At St John’s Church of England Primary School in Wigan, Year Six students are focusing on science. Some are learning about healthy foods, while others are studying pictures of the human body. Each student is on an iPad, following a set of lessons created by AI.
The English school is ahead of others in using new technologies. It was one of the first to bring AI into the classroom. The system analyzes (分析) each child’s work and points out areas that need improvement. Students, as well as their teachers and parents, can easily see their progress in every subject. They can also express how they feel about the lessons through an emoji (表情) button. One boy made a frustrated face in class while working on a math problem. As soon as the AI noticed, it made the lesson easier to follow. It made sure that the boy understood the lesson before moving on.
But the program cares about more than just students’ schoolwork. According to its developers, the AI can also tell if a child might be autistic (患自闭症的) by watching how they touch the screen. While you might think the children are glued to their screens all day, Laura James, the headteacher, explained that this is not true. The children still write in workbooks, and the school library is full of printed books. “It might sound like the future,” she said. “But for us teachers, AI simply means less time for making and preparing—and more time helping the children.”
The children have benefited greatly from the new system. There is no wasted time since they can learn anytime, anywhere. Holly Graham, 13, sometimes spends three hours after school doing math questions. “It has really helped me learn,” she said. Her classmate, Max Ode, added,“The best thing about it is that it pushes you to go further and faster. Learning becomes more fun!”
22.What is the main role of AI in class at St John’s
A. A building designer. B. A learning tool.
C. A science teacher. D. A job guide.
23.What does the underlined word “frustrated” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A. angry B. relaxed C. disappointed D. confident
24.What can we learn from Paragraph 3
A. AI is more helpful than people think.
B. AI is too expensive for most schools.
C. AI is perfect and never makes mistakes.
D. AI stops children from using workbooks.
25.How do Holly and Max feel about the AI system
A. It makes learning too fast to follow.
B. It offers pleasant learning experiences.
C. It needs more help from teachers and parents.
D. It works best for math but not for other subjects.
