2025 marked a new chapter for cultural exchange between China and Germany, especially in the field of ceramic art. This cross-cultural dialogue was led by Li Wei, a renowned Chinese ceramic artist who has dedicated over 20 years to reviving traditional Jingdezhen porcelain
techniques while blending modern design elements.
Li's latest project, named“Clay & Creativity”, was mounted at the Berlin University of theArts in March. The initiative brought together 15 design students from Germany's top art schools and 10 Chinese ceramic craftsmen for a three-month collaborative program. Unlike typical cultural exchange events that only showcase finished artworks,“Clay & Creativity” focused on hands-on learning: students learned to shape porcelain using ancient Chinese methods, while craftsmen absorbed Western concepts of minimalism and functional design.
Li was not the only one bridging cultural gaps through ceramic art. International brands have also recognized the value of combining Eastern craftsmanship with Western design. In April, luxury homeware brand Villeroy & Boch partnered with a Jingdezhen ceramic studio to create a limited-edition tableware series. Meanwhile, the German Design Council organized a workshop inShanghai, inviting Chinese artisans to share their skills with European designers. However, Li's project stood out for its emphasis on grassroots interaction rather than. commercial cooperation.“True cultural exchange happens when people create together, not just trade products,” Li explained in an interview with a design magazine.
One of the standout participants was Lina Schmidt, a twenty-two-year-old German student. Her final piece——a porcelain teapot that merged Chinese blue-and-white patterns with GermanBauhaus geometric shapes—— was selected to be exhibited at the Munich Design Museum later this year.“Working with Master Li completely changed my understanding of ceramic art,” Schmidt said.“He taught us that tradition isn't a fixed rule but a living language that can be reimagined. This experience made me realize how much Eastern and Western design can learn from each other.”
24. What is the main focus of Li Wei's“Clay & Creativity” project
A. Training craftsmen in Western design concepts.
B. Showcasing finished ceramic artworks in Berlin.
C. Promoting commercial trade of porcelain products.
D. Offering hands-on collaborative learning experiences.
25. Why does the author mention Villeroy & Boch and the German Design Council
A. To illustrate broader efforts in cultural integration.
B. To highlight the popularity of Jingdezhen porcelain.
C. To compare their approaches with Li Wei's project.
D. To prove the commercial value of modern ceramic art.
26. What makes Li Wei's project different from other similar initiatives
A. It involves more international students and craftsmen.
B. It has received support from top international brands.
C. It aims to revive traditional Chinese porcelain techniques.
D. It focuses on grassroots creative cooperation instead of business.
27. What does Lina Schmidt think of her experience with Li Wei
A. It helped her master fixed traditional ceramic rules.
B. It made her realize the superiority of Eastern design.
C. It encouraged her to focus on commercial ceramic design.
D. It inspired her to combine different design styles creatively.

Laser(激光) technology is set to revolutionize space communication, potentially allowing people to have video chats with family and friends while on long space trips. SpaceX, a leading player in the space industry, is pioneering laser- based communication technology for satellites. IastOctober, US startup Muon Space took up SpaceX's offer, aiming to use the technology to establish a high- speed satellite connection, as reported by tech magazine PCMag.
Laser- based communication is widely regarded as the future of space communication.According to NASA, the term“laser” stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. In a laser beam, light waves are aligned in peaks, making the beam narrow and bright——ideal for maintaining focus over long distances.
Traditionally, satellites rely on radio waves for sending and receiving information. Both laser and radio waves travel at the speed of light, but lasers can carry far more data. For instance,NASA notes that downloading a two- hour HD movie with lasers takes just eight minutes, compared to over 26 days with radio waves.
Lasers also offer enhanced security due to their thin beams, which leave smaller“footprints”This reduces the chance of signals being intercepted or disrupted by others, as stated in the national magazine. Additionally, laser equipment is lightweight and consumes less power, freeing up more space on spacecraft for scientific tools.
However, the narrow laser beam presents a significant challenge: lasers are typically targeted at satellites 500 kilometers above Earth, which move thousands of kilometers per hour. Moreover, clouds and fog can interfere with laser signals, though more ground stations in adverse(恶劣的)weather areas can mitigate this issue.
While laser communication technology has not yet been widely adopted, its market is expanding rapidly. Fortune Business Insights predicts the market could reach $29.52 billion(about 210.19 billion yuan) by 2032. Some experts even suggest that as the technology matures,it may gradually supplement radio wave communication in most space missions by 2040.
28. Which of the following best explains the working feature of a laser bear a that benefits long- distance space communication
A. Light waves in it travel at a speed faster than radio waves.
B. Its light waves are aligned in peaks, making it narrow and bright.
C. It can carry more data than radio waves due to its larger footprint.
D. It consumes less power, which ensures stable transmission over distance.
29. What does the underlined word“intercepted” probably mean in paragraph 4
A. Blocked. B. Occupied. C. Provided. D. Strengthened.
30. Which measure is mentioned to address the problem of laser signal disruption by bad weather
A. Inereasing the power of laser equipment on spacecraft.
B. Building more ground stations in areas with poor weather.
C. Adjusting the wavelength of laser beams to avoid interference.
D. Using heavier but more stable laser devices for communication.
31. What does the passage imply about the future of laser- based communication
A. Its market growth will slow down as the technology matures.
B. It will completely replace radio wave communication by 2040.
C. It will play an increasingly important role in space communication.
D. It will only be used in a few space missions due to technical limits.

For hundreds of years, people have had different explanations for why ice is slippery. Now,scientists in Germany have a new explanation.
Martin Muser is a scientist in Germany. He teaches at Saarland University. He and his team created a model of ice on a computer. This model let them study the ice closely. They used the model to see how the ice would change when it touched another surface. For example, they looked at how ice changed when it touched a boot, a car tire, or an ice skate. They saw that when the ice touched another surface, changes happened to the ice's molecules. A molecule is the smallest unit of a substance that has all the properties of that substance. For example, a water molecule is the smallest unit that is still water. It is so small that you cannot see it with your eyes. Ice is frozen water. It has a crystal(晶体) shape. Its molecules are arranged in a neat pattern. That's because water is a type of molecule called a dipole(偶极子). One side has a slight negative electric charge. The other side has a positive charge. So when water freezes, the molecules line up in a regular structure. It's almost like little magnets(磁体). But what happens when a boot touches the ice Dipoles within the boot will attract dipoles in the top of the ice. It's like two magnets coming together. So as the boot moves, the dipoles in the ice move, too. Now the neat pattern of the ice begins to fall apart. This is called frustration, says Muser. The ice“kind of melts without really heating.” The dipoles in the boot provide a stickiness. That stickiness pulls ice molecules out of order. These molecules no longer behave like a crystal. Instead, they become a thin layer of water. It sits on top of the ice.
Usually ice melts due to pressure or heat. But in this case, solid ice changes into liquid water as defects mess up its crystal structure. That is why ice can be slippery even at extremely low temperatures. Robert Carpick is a scientist at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He and his team have shown similar crystal defects in diamond. These defects can turn diamond surface slippery, too.
So what's the solution to keeping you from slipping on ice in winter “I would say, put on cleats(防滑鞋),” says Muser.“That's really the only way.”
32. What did Martin Muser and his team do FIRST in the article
A. They looked at a boot touching ice.
B. They watched ice patterns fall apart.
C. They made a computer model of ice.
D. They saw how ice molecules change.
33. How did the dipoles in the boot affect the ice molecules
A. They melted the ice molecules with heat.
B. They pulled the ice molecules out of order.
C. They turned the ice molecules into a crystal.
D. They put the ice molecules into a neat pattern.
34. Why is diamond mentioned in paragraph 3
A. To compare the physical structure of diamond and ice in detail.
B. To explain how diamond can be melted without pressure or heat.
C. To prove crystal defects are a common cause of surface slipperiness.
D. To show diamond is more slippery than ice in extremely low temperatures.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Scientists find how to melt ice with pressure and heat
B. Scientists finally know why icy surfaces are so slippery
C. Researchers discover why ice freezes into crystal structures
D. Researchers prove ice is slippery only in extremely cold weather

The Winter Olympics will introduce several new events, with ski mountaineering making its first appearance as a new sport. Known as“skimo”, it requires athletes to hike up a mountain before skiing down. Three events will be held: a women's sprint, a men's sprint, and a mixed relay. The competition will take place in Bormio, Italy, at the same site used for Alpine skiing.
Other new events are also being added. These are variations of existing sports and aim to give more athletes, especially women, a chance to compete. One such event is dual moguls(雪土技巧). Two skiers compete side by side on a bumpy course, performing aerial(空中的) tricks. 36 Traditional moguls have been part of the Winter Games since the 1990s.
37 This event pairs one man and one woman from the same country. They race down an ice track head-first on a small sled. This format adds a new dynamic to the sport.
This year also marks the first time women's doubles luge will appear. 38 They race down the track feet-first on the same sled. This event highlights the importance of teamwork.
It's not easy for teams to qualify for the Games. The U. S. team narrowly qualified for theGames in a high-stakes race in Utah in early December. 39 The pressure was intense, as it was the last chance for teams to earn Olympic ranking points.
These additions show the Winter Olympies’ commitment to evolution and inelusion. 40 They also bring fresh excitement to the Games, attracting new audiences and showcasing the athletes’ skills.
A. Another new event is mixed team skeleton.
B. Two women from the same country team up on a single sled.
C. Athletes must navigate sharp turns and maintain high speeds.
D. Ski mountaineering requires both endurance and technical skill.
E. Both men's and women's dual moguls will be featured this year.
F. This was the final opportunity for teams to secure their spot in the Olympics.
G. They offer a platt uror athletes to demonstrate their abilities in new formats.

Growing up as an only child with my mom in a cramped(狭小的) suburban studio apartment,I knew life was full of sacrifices early on. Mom worked two part-time jobs to cover rent and her chronic illness medication, so I took odd jobs after high school, from newspaper delivery to math tutoring to lighten her load. My favorite one was at Page Turners, a cozy downtown second-hand bookstore, which served as my stress shelter with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, old paper scents and creaky wooden floors.
During breaks, I'd wander the aisles, fingers brushing worn book spines(书脊), always drawn to a leather-bound Pride and Prejudice on the classics top shelf. Faded tan with gold lettering, its pages wom from countless reads and marked with a 1982 handwritten note. The book cost $20—— beyond my means with Mom’ s medical bills piling up. Each time, I’ d climb a stool(凳子), trace the cover gently, then put it back, a quiet longing settling in my chest as I dreamed of owning it someday.
Last Saturday, while restocking poetry books, I met a kind elderly couple. The woman noticed me eyeing the book, Pride and Prejudice, and struck up a chat. I shyly admitted it was my favorite since middle school but I couldn’ t afford it yet. Her husband, a retired literature professor, chatted with mo about Austen's writing styk. They listened empathetically when I mentionedMom’ s illness. Before leaving, they thankéd me for helping find Yeats’ poems, saying I had a gift for matching people with books. I went baek to work, never expecting the heartwarming surprise ahead.

Impressions from the AI Creative Design Exhibition
As a participant in the AI Creative Design Exhibition held by our school's tech workshop, I'm eager to share my thoughts. The exhibition stood out for its diverse works, from AI painting to smart home prototypes, all made by students. What's more, there were live demos where creators explained their design ideas, making tech more approachable.
I joined an interactive session to try AI image generation, which was both fun and eye-opening, letting me see AI's creative potential. However, the exhibition space was a bit crowded, and some demo equipment lacked instructions. I hope next time the venue can be larger and detailed guides can be prepared for each work.
Overall, it was a fantastic event that sparked my interest in AI!
第二节(满分 25 分)
When I was closing the store that evening, I found a small package on the front counter. It was wrapped in brown paper with a handwritten note attached, and the handwriting was familiar— it was the elderly woman's. I tore open the package nervously, and inside was the leather-bound Pride and Prejudice I'd admired for months. The note read,“For the girl who loves books as much as we do— may this story bring you joy, just as it did for us.” My eyes filled with tears as I held the book;I'd never felt so seen and cared for by strangers. I tucked the note inside the cover and promised myself to pass on this kindness someday.
Weeks later, the elderly couple returned to the bookstore, and I recognized them at once. I rushed over to thank them, holding the book tightly and telling them how much it meant to me. The woman laughed and said they'd noticed how I lit up when talking about the book, and they wanted to give me a little“gift of joy.”I then showed them a stack of children's books I'd collected for a local library, explaining I wanted to share the magic of reading with kids who couldn't afford books. They praised my idea and even donated a few of their own old storybooks. From that day on, we became regulars at the bookstore—sharing book recommendations and small acts of kindness that made the little store feel like home.
