Presentation Have students read the dialogue between Millie and Sandy on page 12 to find out more about Shenzhen’s changes and pay attention to the words in bold. 2 Have students answer the following questions. What tense does the writer use (2) How do you know that 3.Have students finish “Work out the rule!” on page 12. We use the present perfect tense to talk about: an action that started in the past and continues to the present an action that happened in the past and has a connection with the present how many times an action has happened up to the present 4.Have students answer the following questions: (1) Can you make sentences using the third usage of the present perfect tense on page 12 (2) What time adverbials usually appear in sentences with the present perfect tense 5.Have students fill in the following two tables. 6.Have students summarize the structures of positive statements, negative statements, yes-no questions in the present perfect tense. 2. Practice 1. Have students finish Part A on page 13. 2. Have students finish Part B on page 14. 3. Have students finish Part C on page 14. 4. Have students complete the following conversation with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. 3. Production Have students finish Part D on page 14. Have students make up a dialogue to talk about changes in the hometown. Sample Conversation: A: Hi! Long time no see. I heard you went back to your hometown last month. How was the visit B: Oh, it’s amazing!_____________________________________________. A: Wow, that’s great. My hometown has changed a lot too.______________ _____________________________________________________________. B: Really ____________________________________________________. A: That’s cool. I can’t wait to go back during the holiday to see more changes! 4. Homework Compulsory homework: (1) Review the grammar rules of the present perfect tense. (2) Write an article about the changes in your hometown, using the present perfect tense.
