Happiness is something everyone looks for, but not everyone finds easily. What’s the secret to a happy life Many people believe it’s money, success, or good luck. But in fact, the most important factor is a positive attitude.
A positive attitude means looking on the bright side of life. It means believing that good things will happen even when facing difficulties. For example, if you miss the bus, a positive person might think, “It’s a good chance to walk and exercise.” But a negative person would complain, “What bad luck! I’ll be late.”
Studies show that positive people are healthier and happier. They are less likely to feel stressed or sad. Why Because they focus on solutions instead of problems. When they make a mistake, they learn from it and move on. They also tend to have better relationships, as they are more friendly and optimistic.
How can we develop a positive attitude First, practice gratitude. Try to find three things you’re thankful for every day, such as a warm meal or a friend’s help. Second, stay away from negative people. Their bad mood can influence you. Third, do something you love. Hobbies like reading, painting, or helping others can bring you joy and a sense of achievement.
Remember, happiness is not about what happens to you. It’s about how you react to it. A positive attitude can turn bad situations into good ones. As Oscar Wilde said, “Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden.” So let’s choose to be positive and find happiness in small things.

Every evening, the family would sit together and share stories, laugh, and play games. They cherish (珍惜) every moment they spent together.
The children, Xiao Ming and Xiao Hua, understood the value of love and family. They didn’t compare themselves to other children who had more toys or nicer clothes. Instead, they were proud of their family and the love they shared. They knew that love was the most important thing in life and that material possessions couldn’t replace it.
One day, a rich man from the city visited the village. He was amazed by the happiness and joy that radiated from the Chen family. He couldn’t understand how they could be so content with so little. When he asked Mr. Chen about their secret, Mr. Chen smiled and said, “We may not have much in terms of things, but we are rich in love. That’s all that matters.”
The rich man left the village with a new found appreciation for life and a deeper understanding of what truly matters. He realized that happiness doesn’t come from material possessions, but from the love and connections we have with others.

One sunny Saturday morning, I walked to the park. As I passed the old library, I found a group of volunteers gardening near it. Mrs. Green, my kind neighbor, was in them. She always smiles at me when I bike by her house and that makes me feel welcome every time.
“Want to join us ” she asked, handing me a small shovel (铲子). At first, I felt worried—my hands shook as I dug the first hole. But soon, a boy named Sam came up and showed me how to grow a little plant. “The flowers will come out next spring!” he said proudly.
By lunchtime, our clothes were dirty, but the flower beds looked like colorful rainbows. A little girl was watering a plant carefully and whispering (低语), “Grow big, little plant!” Everyone laughed (大笑). Mrs. Green brought us juice and cakes. Then in the beautiful community, we ate, chatted and laughed happily together.

I was born in a small village in India. My mother hoped I could be a doctor and went back to the village to help the people. I went to Mumbai to study medicine. Life was hard for me then. It wasn’t easy to make money as well. I was stressed and worried. At that time, my mother noticed my change. She said, “Madan, what is wrong You don’t laugh like you did in the village.” She was right. I lost my laughter (笑容). I knew it was time to find my laughter.
On 13th March, 1995, I set up the first Laughter Club with just 5 people. At first, the meeting started with someone telling a joke. I explained the health benefits (好处) of laughter. Slowly, people became more interested. There were 55 people by the end of the week.
However, good jokes ran out (耗尽). I tried to look for other ways to laugh. I was surprised to learn that our bodies can’t tell the difference between real laughter and fake laughter, so they still have the same benefits. I thought, why not use laughter as an exercise I came up with the idea of warm-up exercises, such as clapping (拍手) and chanting “Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha”. These exercises made it easier for people to laugh. The results were amazing. For some, acted-out laughter quickly turned into real laughter.
Today, laughter clubs had reached more than 120 countries, bringing fun to people all around the world. Laughter is nature’s best medicine (药)!

When I was your age, my mom always told me, “I just want you to be happy. “She didn’t care what I grew up to be as long as I promised to stay happy. But what exactly is happiness Is it a destination (目的地), or is it more like a road that never ends
Is happiness on social media It sure seems that way. People love posting perfect pictures of their best moments online. But if you ever want to feel bad about your life, just jump online and scroll through (滚屏浏览) those posts. Platforms like Weibo and Xiaohongshu make us believe that we could be prettier, healthier, wealthier, and of course, happier. Plenty of research has linked (联系) social media use to low moods (心情). One U.S.study found that people who use social media for more than two hours a day are twice as likely to feel lonely.
________ When we share a happy moment, we must have felt happy, right Well, yes, but over the years, I’ve come to discover—and experience—the “hedonic treadmill.” We get excited when something good happens, but after a short time, we return to feeling the same as before. In other words, happiness only lasts for so long. As the effects (影响) of one “happy” moment wear off, we set out in search (搜寻) of new sources of happiness. And social media has made this search harder than ever.
Happily, there’s still hope for us to find lasting happiness:It’s called “emotional authenticity.” This happens when we allow ourselves to feel and process emotions (情绪) like anger, disappointment, fear and sadness. It’s not easy, but when we are honest about our experiences, we build deeper and more meaningful connections with others. And those friendships bring us smiles that last much longer than any number of “likes” on a screen!
March 20th is World Happiness Day. Take it as a reminder that happiness isn’t about chasing a picture-perfect life. Trying to be happy all the time is like trying to catch a unicorn (独角兽)—it’s just not going to happen. Instead, focus on your own journey and accept the variety (不同种类) of emotions you’ll feel along the way.
