You may find something different in schools in Kunming.
In the past, students had to run to the toilet and then back to class with no time for anything else. But now, things are really different. “I can have more time to rest and share interesting things with my classmates, and it is really great,” said Kevin from Kunming. “I can run to the sport field and play soccer with my friends,” said another student.
From this term, students at primary and middle schools in Kunming have longer breaks between classes. It has been changed from 10 minutes to 15 minutes, encouraging more outdoor activities among students. Students now can spend more time outside, so they can be healthier and happier both in body and mind. To help students better enjoy break time activities, some schools mixed break time with labor education by opening planting areas and animal feeding areas.
“We have some ducks and rabbits in our school!” said Zhang Boren, a 13-year-old boy, “Some students can play with them while others exercise on the sport field.
