What is your favourite free-time activity
I have many free-time activities, like painting, writing poems,
and reading. But my favourite free-time activity is horse riding.
When I was six, I visited my grandfather's farm, and he took
me to ride a horse. It was such an amazing experience! Now I
do it at his farm every weekend with my favourite horse, Nini.
I love horse riding because I enjoy being in nature. Horse
riding also helps me stay fit. But most importantly, it lets me
spend time with Nini! She's my best friend. She's happy to
see me whenever I visit, especially when I bring her some
carrots for a snack! I'm lucky to have her in my life.

My favourite free-time activity is playing basketball. I started this activity when I was 10 years old after watching an NBA game.
I find it fun to practice dribbling(运球) and shooting (投篮) with my friends. We play in the school playground 3 times a week. It makes me really happy when our team wins a match!
I like to do it because it keeps me healthy and helps me work as a team. I enjoy laughing with friends when we take breaks.

My favorite free time activity is doing calligraphy. It is a traditional and meaningful hobby that calms my mind.
I first tried doing calligraphy when I was ten years old. My grandpa took me to his study to learn basic strokes. Now I practice writing characters for half an hour every evening.
I love doing calligraphy because it makes me feel peaceful. It helps me appreciate the beauty of Chinese characters and lets me slow down in a busy life. Most importantly, I enjoy it because it connects me with the wisdom of ancient people and passes on a piece of traditional culture.

Free-time Activities Help Me Learn a Lot
In my free time, I often volunteer outside. I think volunteering is not only to help others, but also to help myself, because each of us needs help. I often go to the nursing home to help the elderly, pick up garbage in the park and give out leaflets to let people care for the environment.
I still remember my experience of being a volunteer last year. I joined a group to help the neighbors throw out their rubbish. Every day, I got up very early and collected the rubbish from door to door. At first, I found it hard to get up early. It was very tiring, but I did it for two weeks. I got a thank-you letter from the neighbors in the end.
I feel proud of being a volunteer, which means I am able to offer help. What is more, I am also thankful for the people who have helped me.
