When my friend first suggested that we join the new Tai Chi Club at school, I hesitated(犹豫).I always believed(认为) tai chi was for old people. After the first class, however, I had to admit(承认) that I had been wrong about(误解) tai chi. It was amazing!

One year later, I can honestly say(老实说) it has had a huge effect on me physically and mentally.Just as importantly(同样重要的是),practising tai chi has inspired(激励) me to explore(探索) the Chinese culture behind it.

Para.2
Zhang Sanfeng,a 13th-century Taoist(道家),was said to have invented(发明) tai chi after drawing inspiration(灵感) from a fight between a snake and a bird. However, nowadays people tend to believe that Chen Wangting,a 17th-century master(大师) of Chinese martial arts(武术),developed tai chi based on martial arts skills.
Para.2
No wonder(难怪) some tai chi moves are named after(被命名) animals—Chinese martial arts have a long-standing practice of imitating(模仿)animals. Chen Wangting's original set of moves(原始的一系列动作) is called Chen-style tai chi, but other styles of tai chi have since been developed, including Yang-style, Wu-style and Sun-style.
