Step 1. Lead-in. According to the pictures, talk about their free-time activities with different expressions. Sa: I love flying kites. Sb: I like programming. Sc: I am fond of doing calligraphy. Sd: My free-time activity is swimming. Work with their partners and have conversations about the free-time activities. Show some pictures and .lead Ss to have a free talk. T: What’s your free-time activity Let Ss work in pairs and talk about their free-time activities and reasons. Present the four steps of doing a survey. 师评。观察学生结合图片表达课余活动时,能否灵活运用“love doing”“like doing”“be fond of doing”等不同句型;结对交流时,能否清晰说明活动及理由。以此评估学生的句型运用、口语表达与任务理解能力。

Step 2. Interviewing. Work in groups, ask one another questions. One S notes down the answers in a table. Sa: What’s your free-time activity Sb: I love playing football. Sa: Why do you like the activity Sb: Because it’s a great way to exercise and I can make new friends with the same hobby. Let Ss work with their group members and interview one another on their free-time activities. Provide some useful expressions and the sample conversation to help Ss. Encourage the information recorders in the groups to fill in the table. 自评、师评。观察学生小组访谈时,能否主动运用 “What’s your free-time acti- vity ” “Why do you like the activity ”等核心句型提问;记录信息时,能否准确填写活动与理由的对应内容;能否清晰传递访谈信息,以此评估学生的口语交际、信息记录与任务协作能力。

Step 3. Creating. According to the collected data, the students’ free-time activities can be classified along with their respective participation numbers. Work in groups. Create a chart that shows their groups’ results. The reporter makes preparations based on the chart. Guide Ss to classify the data by offering another chart. Encourage Ss to create a chart based on the data. An example is provided. While they are working, walk around the classroom to offer help. 自评、师评。观察学生整理访谈数据时,能否准确对课余活动进行分类并统计参与人数;制作图表时,能否清晰呈现小组结果;汇报准备时,能否结合图表梳理核心信息,以此评估学生的数据处理、可视化呈现与逻辑梳理能力。

Step 4. Presentation. Present their chart and the reporter explains it to the class. Sa: Hello, we are Group Two. We asked everyone in our group about their free-time activities. Here are our results. ... Give comments on each other and vote for the best group. Invite some groups to do a presentation in class. Provide the free-time activities survey presentation framework and the evaluation standards to help Ss. After presenting and explaining, organize the comment part. 自评、互评、师评。观察学生小组展示时,能否按照“开头-主体-结尾”的框架清晰呈现图表结果;能否运用所学表达准确说明活动数据与原因;互评环节中,能否依据checklist从内容、表达等维度给出有效评价,以此评估学生的成果展示、语言运用与协作评价能力。

Step 5. Conclusion. With the help of T, have a conclusion about what they’ve learned in this unit. Have a self-reflection. Guide Ss to have a reflection about the whole unit. 自评、师评。观察学生总结单元内容时,能否系统梳理出“课余活动的表达、调查方法与动词不定式的用法” 等核心知识;自我反思时,能否结合自身经历深入回答“活动的意义”“放松的必要性”等问题,以此评估学生的知识整合、自我反思与思辨能力。

选做 Design a “Class Free-Time Activity Guide” (80-100 words). List 2 recommended activities, explain their benefits for study-life balance, and add one small tip for each activity (e.g. For listening to music: Choose soft songs to relax after homework).
