Computer games can sometimes be very helpful to scientists! A team of scientists in Australia played Age of Empires, a war game, to study ants. They tried to find ways to help local ants live better.
Argentinian ants are an invasive (入侵的) species in Australia. When they meet with local meat ants, the two ant types fight. And usually, Argentinian ants win. This is dangerous. When local ants die and the invasive ants grow in number, the newcomers may eat a lot of plants and harm the local environment.
Scientists want to help local ants win. They built two characters in the game: Knights as the meat ants that are bigger in size but smaller in number, and Swordsmen as the Argentinian ants that are smaller in size but bigger in number. When the game starts, the characters start fighting with each other just like the two ant types do in real life.
After rounds of fighting, nine Knights lost to 50 Swordsmen on the flat ground. But the same team of Knights beat 70 Swordsmen in an uphill (上坡的) environment. It showed that the local meat ants could do better in complex (复杂的) environments. The scientists also did tests with real ants. The results were the same. The team believes that cities can add more lower plants under trees. In this way, there will be more complex environments, and the meat ants may win the “wars” against invasive ants.

Another story comes from Maria, a young tennis player. She dreamed of winning a tennis competition but lost several matches. Instead of giving up, she watched videos of her games, fixed her mistakes and trained harder. Finally, she won a regional (区域) prize. “Failure pushed me to try new ways,” she smiled.
Even communities face challenges. A neighborhood once had messy parks. Volunteers organized clean-up events, planted trees and built benches. Now, it’s a peaceful place for families. “Teamwork turns problems into opportunities (机会),” said Mr. Chen, a local resident.

71.One Possible Version:
Save Food, Save the World
All of us have realized saving food is necessary. However, wasting food is still a serious problem in our school. I saw students order much food but eat only a little. In my opinion, it is so wasteful to do that, because it is not easy for farmers to grow food.
I think we can start with the things around us to save food. First, we should take proper food instead of asking for more than what we can eat in the school dining hall. Second, if we see someone throw food away after meals, tell him the importance of saving food and remind him not to do that next time.
Let’s try our best to do what we can to save food and take action now!
