Communication is a very important part of our lives. It can be verbal, like speaking and writing, or non-verbal, such as body language and facial expressions. Different cultures have different ways of communicating.
In some cultures, making eye contact while talking is a sign of respect and attentiveness. But in other cultures, it may be considered rude. For example, in Japan, people may lower their eyes as a sign of respect.
Gestures also vary from culture to culture. In the United States, a thumbs-up gesture usually means “good” or “great”. However, in some Middle Eastern countries, this gesture is very offensive (冒犯的).
Emojis have become a popular way of communication in the digital age. They can help us express our feelings quickly. But we should also be careful when using them. Sometimes, an emoji may have different meanings in different cultures.

Building Bridges Through Cultural Exchange
Last summer, our school organized an international camp with students from six countries. At first, many of us felt excited but also nervous. Lin Tao asked, “How can we communicate well with people from different cultures ”
During the opening ceremony, each group presented their traditional festivals.
