Victoria Falls is one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. It is 1.7 kilometres wide and 108 metres high, lying on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Locally, people call it “Mosi-oa-Tunya” — which means “The Smoke That Thunders”. This is because the falling water makes a loud, thunderous sound and creates thick mist that looks like smoke rising into the air. It is the world’s largest curtain of falling water and has also been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
