The world is full of beautiful places waiting for you to explore. You used to promise yourself that you would travel somewhere when you had enough money and time. But scientific research has found that some of them won’t wait around forever because they will probably disappear one day.
The Dead Sea, known for being one of the saltiest places in the world, is in danger of disappearing. Tourists go to the lake to swim in its waters and spread its mineral-rich mud (富含矿物质的泥土) on their skin. However, the water level is dropping more than one metre every year because of nearby mining (采矿) projects and overuse of water. As a result, the Dead Sea is shrinking (缩小) so quickly that if nothing is done, it will be too late to save it by 2050.
Madagascar’s rainforests are also at risk of disappearing some day. They once covered 120,000 square kilometres, but only 20,000 square kilometres remain today because of tree cutting and fires. It is bad news for special animals that call this place home.
There are also many amazing places around the world that are at risk of being damaged. One of them is Machu Picchu. It has been in danger because of the city development and too many visitors. If we don’t take action to protect the ancient place, it could lose its historical value in the future.
Another place in danger is the Great Wall of China. Part of the wall, which dates back to the Ming Dynasty, is disappearing. For one thing, wind and rain have weathered (风化) it and plants growing in the wall have weakened it further. For another, in recent years, tourists have also begun exploring the less developed parts of the Great Wall, causing more damage.
If you want to visit any of these places, go before it’s too late!

七、阅读表达(共5小题,计10分)
How do you spend your free time Do you keep watching a screen for about 10 hours from morning to night Well, you’re not alone. A new report says Chinese people spend five and a half hours on the internet every day! In the report, not just in China, 69% of the people in the world usually watch short videos online. Not like reading books or learning, these short videos make us stop thinking for ourselves. The Oxford Word of the Year—“brain rot” (脑腐) best shows this global problem.
But how do we get here Watching these types of short videos is like eating your favourite food. Once you start, it’s hard to stop. It’s exactly an easy way to kill time. But this “easy fun” costs us a lot. The more time we spend on our screens, the less real-life happiness we experience. While we are having a “good” time on Xiaohongshu and Bilibili, we are missing the wonders of the real world. Over time, we feel our lives are becoming more and more boring.
What can we do to make a change It’s time to bring back “free fun”. Go out with your friends or family and enjoy the beauty of nature. Take in the fresh air. Bathe in the warm sunlight. Light up your day with the pleasant birdsong. Just don’t let your screens take up your free time and leave your brain “rotting”!

例文:
My favorite way to relax is reading. I got into it two years ago to improve my English, as I hoped to communicate better with foreigners.
At first, it was hard for me to understand long sentences, and I often felt frustrated. I even wanted to give up, but I kept trying and asked my teacher for help. She gave me a suggestion to read simple stories first.
Now, reading brings me joy and peace. It helps me forget my fears and learn new words. I feel relaxed and happy every time I open a book, lost in the wonderful world of stories.
