South China tigers are one of the most endangered animals in China. They mainly live in the forests of southern China. But now, there are only about 100 South China tigers left in the world, most of which live in zoos or wildlife centers.
Why are they in danger First, people cut down many trees, so their living places are getting smaller. Second, some people hunt them illegally for their bones and fur. Also, the number of their prey (猎物) is decreasing because of pollution and habitat loss.

Nowadays, more and more animals are becoming endangered. According to a report, over 28,000 species (物种) are at risk of disappearing forever. The main reasons are habitat loss, illegal hunting, and pollution. For example, elephants are hunted for their ivory, and tigers are killed for their fur.
To protect endangered animals, many countries have set up nature reserves where animals can live safely. Laws have been made to stop illegal hunting and trading of animal products. Also, many organizations are working to raise people’s awareness about animal protection.
