第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Best Places to Visit in Europe for 2025
Amsterdam
Spend the day cycling through Amsterdam’s stylish streets before exploring noteworthy museums like the Van Gogh Museum. Plan a picnic in Vondel Park for lunch or choose a boat tour along the city’s many canals (运河) when it’s time to rest your feet. While you’re here, consider planning a day trip to one of Amsterdam’s nearby scenic places — Utrecht and Leiden are both worth visiting.
Prague
A vacation in Prague will leave you feeling as if you’ve stepped into a fairy tale. Take in the Gothic architecture and be sure to tour Prague Castle. Plus, Prague’s affordable food and drinks, accommodations and excellent public transportation make it a great place for travelers who wish to visit Europe on a budget.
Venice
Travelers will appreciate Venice’s attractive canals and historical architecture. Keep in mind, though, that this extremely popular destination sees massive crowds, especially during the warmer months. To control overtourism, Venice charges tourists a small fee to enter on select dates. Plus, gondola (凤尾船) rides and hotels are pricey, so you’ll want to budget accordingly.
London
Exploring the world-famous British Museum, seeing a musical in the West End theater district, watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and stepping back in time at the Tower of London are all parts of the London experience. However, London’s high hotel prices can make travelers with tight budgets back off. To save money, book your accommodations far in advance.
21. What activity in Amsterdam allows visitors to explore nearby scenic places
A. Picnicking in Vondel Park. B. Taking a boat tour on canals.
C. Biking through the city’s streets. D. Planning a day trip to Utrecht or Leiden.
22. Why does Venice charge tourists a fee on certain dates
A. To fund new attractions. B. To reduce overcrowding.
C. To promote cultural events. D. To improve public transportation.
23. What do all four cities have in common
A. They offer free boat tours. B. They are all located near the coast.
C. They experience extremely cold winters. D. They are known for iconic cultural landmarks.

Emily Bonfim Camargo, a 10-year-oid girl, has cerebral palsy(大脑性瘫痪). Because of her condition, her involuntary movements prevent her from freely holding objects with her hands or standing up. She’s never been-able to walk, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the same dreams and hopes as other children. In particular, she’s always wanted to ride a bicycle.
“That was her dream, and I had to do something to help,” her grandfather, Clovis Urias, a 69-year-old former construction worker, said. First he tried to make his granddaughter’s dream come true by buying her a tricycle (三轮车). Unfortunately, she was unable to hold the handlebars to guide the vehicle, and she couldn’t keep her balance on the seat. Her grandfather, however, isn’t a man who is easily discouraged.
In his home workshop, he started to think of how he could make a more stable tricycle for her. He started to take things apart and put the useful pieces back together. “I fixed the pedals(踏板) with brakes, and I didn’t put on handlebars,” he told Sempre Familia a local news medium.
This vehicle isn’t just fun; it’s also practical; Clovis added a basket behind the seat, so that Emily can carry her backpack for school, or some groceries, because she likes to go to the supermarket and bakery with him. Emily’s special tricycle is also stylish. “After the tricycle was ready, I painted it pink and purple because Emily chose those colors. She was very happy, and I was even happier,” Clovis said.
There’s no cure for cerebral palsy, although there is medicine to decrease involuntary muscle movements. So what does the future hold for Emily Only time will tell, but the support of her family will fill her future with hope.
24. What do we know about Emily from paragraph 1
A. She can’t afford a new bike.
B. She has set up a home workshop.
C. She hasn’t been able to walk since.
D. She shares the same dreams with others.
25. Which of the following word can best describe Clovis
A. Brave and calm. B. Determined and loving.
C. Cooperative and out-going. D. Ambitious and shy.
26. How would Emily control the tricycle her grandfather made
A. By holding the handlebars.
B. By keeping her balance on the seat.
C. By putting her hand on the brakes.
D. By fixing the brakes on the pedals.
27. What’s the main idea of the text
A. A family that is full of love.
B. A tricycle made of useful pieces.
C. A girl got a present from her grandfather.
D. A grandfather creates a tricycle for his granddaughter.

Increasingly over the last few years, we have become familiar with the range of small electronic devices or "smart" accessories (附件). Pocket heart-rate monitors for joggers and electronic maps are just the first examples of many new products that promise to change our lives in all sorts of surprising ways.
As a scientist at New York University, Rosalind Picard tries out different smart accessories before they go on the market. One of these was the so-called "frown headband". Rosalind was shocked to realize just how often she frowned stuck in a traffic jam recently, Rosalind kept hearing the sounds of the tiny sensor inside the band worn around her forehead-each time she frowned in annoyance, the sensor gave out a signal.
Another computer scientist, Steven Feiner, is working on a pair of glasses that will do more than help you to see. Imagine you want to try a restaurant in a foreign city but you're not familiar with the dishes on the menu. If you are wearing a pair of steven's glasses, all you have to do is glance above the restaurant's doorway and your glasses will immediately become windows to the Internet, offering you full details of the meals served inside. The glasses could also be used to help people make speeches, give chefs access to the latest recipes and even provide doctors with patient information while they carry out operations.
At the moment, steven's invention looks more like a large skin mask than a pair of glasses. It's a headset collected to a hand held computer and a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, which tracks the wearer's position. But he says that these head-worn displays will eventually get smaller and lighter as technology improves.
And, of course, this new technology has a fashionable as well as a useful application. A chemical engineer named Robert Langer has invented a new microchip that, if put inside a ring, can give off different smells according to a person's mood. That, of course, may or may not appeal to you. And, in the end, it is shoppers not scientists, who will determine which of these smart accessories will succeed as fashionable items and which are sure to join history's long list of crazy inventions.
It is clear, however, that as computers get smaller and cheaper, they will pop up in all sorts of easily-wearable accessories, even in the buttons on your coat. What's more, this is something that's going to happen a lot sooner than we all expect.
28. How does the second paragraph develop
A. By analyzing the cause B. By giving an example.
C. By making comparison. D. By following time order.
29. Steven's glasses can do the following except _________.
A. Try and taste the dishes for people in a restaurant.
B. Offer chefs details about the latest recipes.
C. Give patient information to doctors.
D. Provide customers with the information on the meals.
30. In general, what does the writer think about smart accessories
A. Much more research is needed into them. B. They will soon be widely available.
C. Only a few of them will appeal to shoppers D. Most of them are considered to be crazy inventions.
31. What's the writer's purpose in writing this passage
A. To advertise some smart accessories. B. To argue that smart accessories are fashionable.
C. To introduce the idea of smart accessories. D. To tell interesting stories about smart accessories.
C
A major limitation in behavioral research is that scientists can either study animals under highly-controlled, yet often unrealistically simplified and small, environments in the lab, or in largely uncontrolled conditions in the wild. This has limited our ability to study many aspects of behavior, including collective behavior—the movements and interactions among animals that underlie their complex social lives. What is needed to address this
To do so in a multidimensional way, researchers have developed a tool called SMART-BARN. “It’s a new tool that allows studying complex behavior characteristics of an individual or interactions between groups of animals like insects, birds, or mammals (哺乳动物),” says Hemal Naik. Together with Máté Nagy, co-speaker of the Cluster, Iain Couzin, and colleagues developed SMART-BARN. Biologists, physicists, engineers and computer scientists developed it together.
“SMART-BARN is designed to enhance the scale of typical indoor behavioral experiments in terms of experimental volume and measured behavior characteristics and group sizes,” computer scientist Hemal Naik says. The facility can—depending on the size of the animals—host hundreds of animals simultaneously and extend the possibility of experiments to novel species typically not studied in indoor environments. “In fact, we have now scaled this to work with many thousands of animals,” adds Couzin. “We recently conducted a study in the Imaging Hangar where we tracked 10,000 plague locusts. This would have been impossible without our SMART-BARN technology. ”
So far, SMART-BARN has been used within different experimental use cases involving subjects as diverse as pigeons, moths, bats, and humans. Naik says, “SMART-BARN offers the ability to track 3D stare and posture of birds in a group of ten or more while maintaining their identity. This technique is being used by researchers to explore the role of stare in decision making.”
The team imagines the facility to be a cooperative space where researchers from all over the globe can contribute to the exploration of behavioral questions. Therefore, the team invites researchers across the world to connect with them and plan experiments.
32. What is the first paragraph mainly about concerning SMART-BARN
A. Its limitation. B. Its necessity. C. Its popularity. D. Its feature.
33. What can we learn about the research team
A. They engage in different areas of knowledge. B. They are expert at studying biodiversity.
C. They have the same social background. D. They base their study on previous data.
34. What is SMART-BARN used to do according to the text
A. To rescue the endangered. B. To protect the environment.
C. To study animal groups. D. To keep track of birds.
35. What does paragraph 4 want to tell us about SMART-BARN
A. How it will be tested. B. What it will be used for.
C. Why it is so popular. D. Where it can be used.

I grew up in a poor family in a small town. With our mother often working nights at a factory, my older sister, Anne, six years my senior, became like a second mother and my best friend.
At seventeen, my only chance for college was a scholarship (奖学金) interview in a distant city. The opportunity filled me with excitement, but also with a deep fear. “Anne,” I told her about my worry one evening. “I’m afraid they’ll judge me before I even speak.” I showed her my pitiful collection of “best” clothes: the old blouse and pants, and worst of all, the worn-out shoes. “It’s the hole in the bottom of the shoes that I’m most worried about,” I said, showing her how I would have to carefully place my feet to hide the hole. “What if I forget and someone sees What if it rains ” The thought of being judged as poor in that important room was terrifying.
Seeing my anxiety, Anne took me to a department store the following weekend. We walked to the shoe section, and she pointed to a fine pair of leather (皮制的) shoes.“Try these on,” she suggested. When I did, they gave me a sense of safety. “We can’t afford these, Anne,” I said, immediately taking them off, my heart aching.
“I can,” she said firmly, already heading to the sales girl. I tried to stop her, reminding her of her own struggles as a part-time student. But she turned to me, her mind made up. “You need to walk into that room standing tall, not thinking about the hole in your shoe. Let this one thing not be a worry for you.” I was speechless, holding the shoes that felt far heavier than their weight.
注意:1. 续写次数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡相应位置作答。
Wearing the new shoes, I entered the interview room.
