We all remember that first cry at the movies. Whether they are tears of joy or sadness, it's quite amazing
that human emotion can be controlled by moving images on a screen. In fact, it all comes from a plan. But what
about those heart-breaking stories... for kids They seem not to sugarcoat the realities of the world.
Actually, many great kids' movies filled with tragedy (悲剧) are purposefully meant to stir up kids' strong
feelings. According to Aristotle, tragedy aids us in facing life's unsolvable problems through sensible(理智的)
thinking. Therefore, the existence of tragedy in kids' movies is to teach kids to handle, to understand and to heal.
The hardest lesson for a child is how to deal with loss, especially if it's sudden. The cartoon classic The Lion King
tells the story of Simba, who experiences the loss of his father. Kids see themselves in Simba's character. He has
dreams. He has a desire to grow and be a part of a bigger world. But it is really heartbreaking to see the loss.
Why is a film like this so beloved when it makes kids cry The lesson it teaches is to overcome hardships
and to move forward. Hakuna Matata! Yes, the phrase from The Lion King is to teach kids it's okay to move on
from tragic loss and not to let it define you. It's an important lesson we learned at a very young age. Sadness
should not be ignored (忽视). It's important to feel sad, and that is why these films are so great. In Dumbo,
Charlotte' s Web and Bridge to Terabithia, we lose our beloved characters. This quite upsets kids, but it teaches
them to accept sadness and makes something new out of it.
So, what is the message behind a sad kids' movie It's meant to teach the audience, especially children, to
gain their independence and how to free themselves from tragedy. It's like a cushion(缓冲垫) that differs stories
from reality. It helps children deal with sad feelings when they come for real, or at least find relief by saying
Hakuna Matata.
49. Why does the author mention"first cry" in paragraph 1
A. To recommend a movie. B. To explain the reason.
C. To support an argument. D. To introduce the topic.
50. What does the underlined phrase"Hakuna Matata" in paragraph 3 mean
A. Ignoring and accepting sadness. B. Viewing sadness as a treatment.
C. Heading forward without being trapped. D. Losing oneself in tragic losses.
51. What can we learn from the last paragraph
A. Children can find a way to hide sad feelings.
B. Children can learn to ignore sadness in tragedy.
C. Sad kids' movies prepare children for difficult times.
D. Sad kids' movies help children to escape from reality.
52. What is the best title for the text
A. What do Sad Kids' Movies Teach Us
B. How do Great Kids' Movies Inspire Us
C. Why Are Sad Kids' Movies So Popular
D. Why do Sad Kids' Movies Sugarcoat the Reality

When 16-year-old Kai returned to his hometown after three years, the first thing he noticed was the river.
Once the heart of the village- where kids swam, women washed clothes, and old men fished- the water now ran
thick and brown, with plastic bags bobbing like sad balloons. "The new factory upstream dumps waste every
night," his grandma sighed, pointing to a rusty pipe sticking out of the riverbank.
Kai remembered how the river used to sparkle(闪光). He'd spent summers catching minnows and watching
dragonflies land on lily pads. Now, even the willow trees along the bank looked sick, their leaves yellow and
wilted."We can't just watch it die," he told his classmates when he visited his old school.
They formed a group called"Clear Stream." First of all, they mapped the pollution sources: the factory pipe,
a drainage ditch from the market, and villagers tossing trash. Then, they took action. On weekends, they picked up
garbage, their gloves turning black from the muck. They made posters with before-and-after photos of the river
and hung them in the village square."A dead river means dead crops and sick families," the posters read.
The factory owner ignored their letters at first. But when Kai and his friends stood outside the factory gates
every morning, holding their posters and handing out leaflets to workers, he finally agreed to meet. "Installing a
water filter will cost too much," he grumbled. Kai showed him a study: polluted water was making villagers ill,
and medical bills were rising."Health is more expensive than a filter." he said quietly.
Months later, the filter was installed. The group kept cleaning, and villagers joined in- even the market
traders started using biodegradable bags. One spring morning, Kai knelt by the river and saw a minnow dart past
his hand. "It's breathing again," he whispered. That night, the village held a celebration by the water, and kids
splashed in the shallows, just like old times.
53. Why did the river become polluted
A. Heavy rains caused mudslides.
B. A factory dumped waste into it.
C. Villagers overfished in the river.
D. The willow trees died and rotted.
54. What did"Clear Stream" do first to help the river
A. They held a celebration by the river.
B. They installed a water filter for the factory.
C. They asked villagers to stop using plastic bags.
D. They discovered where the pollution was coming from.
55. What did Kai mean by saying"health is more expensive than a filter"
A. A filter didn't cost much.
B. The owner didn't want to build a filter.
C. Health was more important than money.
D. Villagers spent much money on medicine.
56. What can we infer from the story
A. Community effort is key to saving nature.
B. Factories should be closed to protect rivers.
C. Rivers can clean themselves without human help.
D. Young people can solve environmental problems alone.

①In the heart of Malawi lay the small village of Wimbe, a place where most villagers
lived on small farms. William, a clever and bright-eyed boy, grew up in this community.
Unlike many of his friends, William was really interested in machines. He would spend
hours taking apart old radios and broken mechanical pieces, studying how they worked.
②William dreamed of going to high school. He saw education as a powerful key-a
key that could unlock a better future not just for himself, but for his entire family. He imagined learning advanced
techniques that could help his father's farm flourish. However, one year, a drought(干旱) hit Wimbe and the sun
shone on the land mercilessly. The crops died and the community was forced into a severe famine(饥荒). William
and his family could have only one meal a day. Sometimes William's father went without a meal so that his family
could survive.
③Despite the hardship of their life, William's spirit was not so easily broken. He began to visit the small
village library. He carried an English dictionary with him, looking up every unfamiliar word, slowly piecing
together the meaning of the texts.
④One fateful day, a book with a striking image of a towering windmill on its cover caught his eye. He
learned that these magical structures could capture the wind's invisible force and transform it into electricity. A
powerful idea began to form in his mind. He looked out at the dry, windswept fields of Wimbe. What if he could
build a windmill
⑤Many villagers, especially other children, laughed at him. They saw a boy collecting garbage and called
him" misala"- crazy. But their mockery(嘲笑) didn't disturb him. With no money for proper tools, he found old
plastic pipes, a rusted bicycle frame, and an old tractor fan. But his most successful discovery was a broken
generator(发电机).
⑥After months of tireless effort, a strange, beautiful structure began to take shape in his yard-a tower of
wood, crowned with plastic blades and connected to the bicycle. The day he raised it, a small crowd gathered,
their doubt hanging heavy in the air. But then, the wind blew. It caught the blades, which creaked at first, then
began to spin fast. They spun faster and faster and then, the magic happened - a small bulb attached to the
generator glowed with a brilliant light". William had made it! William successfully produced electricity with those
junks! Amazing..."
⑦That first light was just the beginning. William's windmill soon powered a small pump, bringing
life-giving water to the fields and homes. The women of Wimbe no longer had to walk for hours to get water. For
the first time, homes glowed with electric light after sunset, allowing children to study. William, the boy they once
called crazy, not only produced electricity but also lit a flame of hope and innovation that would forever change
the future of his village.
57. Why did William value education so highly
A. To become a scientist. B. To repair more machines.
C. To improve his family' s life. D. To save the people in Wimbe.
58. According to the article, what is William like
A. Determined and generous. B. Curious and creative.
C. Modest and creative. D. Curious and organized.

59. The sentence"The mockery turned into praise" can be put at the end of .
A. paragraph 3 B. paragraph 4 C. paragraph 5 D. paragraph 6
60. What is the main idea of the article
A. The advantages of a windmill in farming.
B. William's efforts to change his village's future.
C. The problems of drought and famine in Wimbe.

七、阅读与回答问题(本题共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
请认真阅读下面短文,并根据短文内容回答问题。
Long ago,a wise man called Sunzi lived in the State of Wu. He was good at leading armies. He wrote a book
called The Art of War. It is a short book with just around 6000 words. However, it has been very important for
over 2000 years. It is not just about military strategies(策略) but it also has lessons about how to make decisions.
The wise lessons can be used in many areas, such as international relations, business management and even sports.
Let's explore the main rules together.
Think about all the details
Sunzi begins by talking about the importance of strategy. War is a matter of life and death for a country.
Leaders must consider all the details. For example, they have to decide if the people support a war. They must
think about the skills of military leaders and the strength of soldiers. The weather and landscape are also important.
For a successful result, there must be a plan. Without a plan, there is a chance that they might fail.
Follow the rules but use them creatively
Sunzi says that when there is conflict, both sides might be strong. To win, one side must surprise the enemy.
In battle or challenge, it is important to do things in an unexpected way. That means a person should use rules
creatively to solve difficult problems. They should think about new methods to combine strategies.
Focus on a quick victory
Sunzi says that winning a war quickly is important. A battle that continues for too long will make soldiers
tired and worried. The enemy will take advantage of this and try to beat them. Sunzi believes that the best strategy
is to find a way to win without using too much time. Focus on each task and solve problems as quickly as
possible.
Fight without doing too much harm
Sunzi also talks about the wise way to fight. In war, the best way is to use correct strategies to stop the
enemy's plans in advance. The next best is to isolate the enemy from their supporting parties. The next in order is
to beat their armies in the field. The worst choice is to attack their cities. The goal should always be to fight by
doing as little harm as possible to the other country.
Peace is the best victory
Sunzi thinks that a country can fight to win every battle, but this might not be the best result. The war might
destroy a lot of the country. Sunzi believes that true strength lies in winning without fighting. It brings peace and
safety to the country and its people. A truly wise leader should keep this in mind.
The rules in this book are some of Sunzi's key strategies for winning in war. But following rules without
thinking will not bring a successful result. Every situation is different. Wise people apply(运用) the rules
differently for each situation. To use the rules well is an art. As a result, the title of Sunzi' s book was translated as
The Art of War.
