Dear Tom,
I’m glad you’re interested in China’s Spring Festival, which is our most important traditional festival! It falls on the first day of the lunar new year, when families get together to welcome new hopes.
Before it, we clean homes that hold old luck and put up couplets with good wishes. On New Year’s Eve , if you join us, you’ll taste dumplings and watch the Spring Festival Gala. Fireworks light up the sky at midnight, and we visit relatives who give kids red envelopes next day. It’s warm and joyful—my favorite time of the year.
