The project brought together governments and environmentalists from around the world. Temples and other cultural sites were taken down piece by piece, and then moved and put back together again in a place where they were safe from the water. In 1961, German engineers moved the first temple. Over the next 20 years, thousands of engineers and workers rescued 22 temples and countless cultural relics. Fifty countries donated nearly $80 million to the project.

What does the Spirit of Aswan Dam project show
Part 3 Spirit
The spirit of the Aswan Dam project is still alive today. Perhaps the best example is shown by UNESCO, which runs a programme that prevents world cultural heritage sites around the world from disappearing. If a problem seems too difficult for a single nation, the global community can sometimes provide a solution.

Progress
Core: Protect ancient cities, development supports protection — 4 short steps:
1. Core (核心)area: Fix old buildings, no new builds. Buffer(中立) zone: No high-rises, match style.
2. Light(轻度) tourism (cultural fun, not crowds) — use money to fix the city/help residents.
3. Sensors for safety(安全传感器), buried pipes/wires, solar streetlights.
4. Government makes rules, residents volunteer (get subsidies(补助), tourists share ideas — all win.
Homework
This is an old temple with a history of about 200 years. A highway is designed to go through the temple on the mountain. So the temple has to be torn down to make the highway.
Please find its problems and solutions,as well as the necessity/inspiration of the protection and write a relative(相关的) article.
Cultural relics are just like bridges that can connect us with the past history. Protecting cultural relics helps promote our understanding of ourselves as human beings.
