Ⅱ. Analysis of the Students
Strengths Weaknesses
1. At the linguistic foundation level The students have mastered basic English sentence structures and vocabulary, possessing preliminary skills in rapid reading and extracting explicit information, enabling them to comprehend the general content of biographical texts. For vocabulary involving specific historical contexts (such as "resident physician," "private clinic") and more complex sentence structures there may be comprehension barriers. Additionally, there is a relative lack of linguistic proficiency in using precise English for in-depth expression of viewpoints and psychological descriptions.
2. Cognitive and Content Dimensions High school freshmen begin to form their preliminary views on society and life, showing innate interest and resonance with topics such as " life choices" and "ideals and responsibilities." They are easily attracted and inspired by the touching people’story of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi. Students are relatively unfamiliar with the specific historical era and social background in which Dr. Lin Qiaozhi lived, which may make it difficult for them to fully comprehend the immense courage and profound significance behind each of her choices, posing a challenge to the deep understanding of the text.
3. Thinking and Strategy Level High school students have already developed the ability to handle complex concepts and engage in logical reasoning. They are no longer satisfied with simple imitation and memorization, but begin to question, critique, and seek inherent logic. Infer and summarize from the specific details of the text (behavior, language) to abstract the qualities of people (such as dedication, patriotism). The critical thinking ability still requires focused cultivation. How to integrate textual information with personal experience to conduct logical and in-depth value judgments, rather than providing simplistic or stereotypical responses, remains a key challenge in teaching that needs to be addressed.

Blackboard design
My blackboard design will be concise, intuitive, and logically clear, serving the achievement of teaching objectives. This blackboard design runs throughout the entire class, serving both as a condensed version of the teaching content and as a mind map for students to retell and summarize.
VI. Teaching Reflection
This lesson attempts to achieve the integration of teaching, learning, and evaculation through interconnected activities.
Expected highlights:
The focused training on the "performance judgment" reading skill and the exploration of the profound theme of life choices" are expected to effectively achieve the core literacy objectives.
Potential challenges:
The difficulty lies in guiding students of different levels to engage in deep expression during critical discussions, which will test the teacher's classroom management skills and real-time feedback techniques.
Areas for improvement:
In the future, consideration could be given to providing students with richer language framework, such as a discussion sentence pattern bank, to support more fluent expression of their viewpoints.
