2 Which do you prefer, a faster pace of life or a slower pace of life?
I prefer a faster pace of life. First, a fast-paced lifestyle is closely linked to efficiency and progress. In a competitive society, keeping up with a quick rhythm helps me seize more opportunities, such as finishing study tasks ahead of schedule, participating in diverse extracurricular activities, or mastering new skills like a foreign language or a programming tool. Second, a fast pace often brings a sense of fulfillment. When I manage my time wisely and accomplish multiple goals in a day, I feel a strong sense of achievement that motivates me to move forward. Although it can be tiring sometimes, I believe this lifestyle pushes me to become a better version of myself.

2 Which do you prefer, a faster pace of life or a slower pace of life?
I tend to favor a slower pace of life. For one thing, it allows me to appreciate the beauty around me that I might miss in a hurry. For example, I can enjoy a warm breakfast with my family instead of grabbing a snack on the way, or take a walk in the park to listen to the birds singing and watch the leaves dancing in the wind. For another, a slow pace helps reduce stress and anxiety. In today’s world, many people are overwhelmed by tight schedules and heavy pressure. By slowing down, I can have more time to reflect on my life, read a book I love, or practice a hobby like painting, which helps me maintain a balanced and peaceful state of mind.

2 Which do you prefer, a faster pace of life or a slower pace of life?
In my opinion, the ideal lifestyle is a combination of fast and slow paces, depending on different situations. When I’m dealing with academic tasks like preparing for exams or finishing a research project, I need to keep a fast pace to ensure efficiency and quality. However, during holidays or weekends, I prefer to slow down completely. I can travel to a quiet town, cook a delicious meal for myself, or just lie on the sofa and watch a movie. This balance helps me avoid burnout and allows me to recharge my energy, so I can face challenges with a more positive and energetic attitude when I return to my busy routine.
1. What kinds of changes do the pictures show?
the way we shop

What kinds of changes do the pictures show?
the way we travel
how we communicate
2 What else can you think of that has changed in recent decades?
Communication: We’ve moved from landline phones and letter-writing to smartphones, social media and instant messaging apps that let us connect with others worldwide in seconds.
Daily life & shopping: Offline shopping in physical stores has been complemented by e-commerce platforms, and cash payments have been largely replaced by mobile payment methods like Alipay and WeChat Pay.
Urban construction: Many cities have seen the rise of skyscrapers, subway systems and smart city infrastructure, making urban life more convenient.
3 Imagine you could travel 40 years back in time. What would you want to experience? Why?
I would want to experience the everyday life of people in the 1980s, such as shopping at street markets, using public telephones, and watching black-and-white TV with families. Because that era was a time of great transformation in China, with simple and warm social interactions and a strong sense of community. It would let me understand the hard work and aspirations of the older generation, and appreciate how far our society has come today.
