Names
　　People in English speaking countries put given name before family name. But we Chinese always put family name before given name. Family names are so important to us because they tell who our ancestors (祖先) are and where we are from. However, the ways of addressing (称呼) people are the same in English and in Chinese. We can address people by their full names. For example, Yuan Longping and Winston Churchill. In formal (正式的) situations, we usually use Mr, Mrs or Ms before a
family name. For example, Mr Yuan and Mr Churchill. And
between close friends, we can use given names. For
example, Longping and Winston.
　　As for (至于) naming children, in English speaking
countries children may be named after (用……命名)
their parents or grandparents. And some parents name their children after famous people. In China, however, you can hardly (几乎不) find anyone having the same given name as their parents or grandparents. And few Chinese people name their children after famous people.

Underline important information about Lu Xun’s three different names in this information board.
Lu Xun (鲁迅) was born in September, 1881. His grandfather named him Zhou Zhangshou (周樟寿), which means longevity (长寿). In April, 1898, he became a student in Jiangnan Naval Academy (江南水师学堂). His grandfather’s brother, Zhou Jiaosheng (周椒生), named him Zhou Shuren (周树人). The given name means educating the young. In May, 1918, he published A Madman’s Diary (《狂人日记》) under the now famous pen name Lu Xun.
It is said that he chose Lu Xun because Lu is his mother’s family name and Xun means being fast.
