The Long Journey Home
Today，I read some exciting news about the Chu Silk Manuscript（《楚帛书》）. Two volumes of it came home from the United States and arrived in Beijing on 18 May, 2025.
Why is this manuscript so special？It's the oldest classical text found in China. It dates back to the Warring States Period. Many are happy about its return. One of them wrote online，“As we become more powerful，other countries are showing more respect. ”
The manuscript had been divided into three parts. The two returned volumes were housed in the U．S. National Museum of Asian Art（美国国家亚洲艺术博物馆）. The third Volume I is still in private hands in the U．S. I really hope that it will be returned soon so that the manuscript can be complete.
The manuscript has had a rather hard journey. It was discovered in a tomb（墓穴） in 1942. At first，it fell into the hands of a Chinese collector. Four years later，an American collector called John Hadley Cox brought it to the U．S. No one knows how Cox had gotten it.
After reaching America，it passed through some more hands. In 1992，the other two volumes were gifted to the U．S. National Museum of Asian Art in Washington，D. C. After nearly 80 years abroad，now they are finally home.
Experts say that the manuscript was used for rituals or fortune telling. It gives us a rare window into that ancient world. In July，the two volumes will be displayed at the National Museum of China（中国国家博物馆）. I can't wait to see them for myself.

We were talking about Jiyang Park（济阳公园）. It lies quietly to the west of my neighbourhood. It's not very big. Honestly，I had never given it much attention before. Our walk that day made me see it in a new light.
As soon as we passed through the gate，an azalea（杜鹃） garden came into view. This，according to the information board，is a new feature of the park. All the flowers were fully in bloom（盛开）. As we walked along the stone path，our eyes were greeted with many different shades（深浅浓淡） of red.
Most of the flowers were large，but some had thin petals（花瓣）. The rain had just stopped，and a few drops of water were still dancing on the flowers. It was hard not to want to reach for our phones and take some pictures.
As we walked on，we saw more kinds of flowers. Every corner of the park seemed to tell us that spring was in full bloom. Just as noteworthy（值得注意的），however，were the birds. Each one was singing a different song. Were they having a competition？Or maybe they were talking to us：Good morning！Nice to meet you!
