Mom said the grass was tall and had to be cut.
Suddenly, the lawnmower stopped. Cindy's mom looked sad. Cindy wondered what was wrong. Her mom
picked something up out of the grass, and walked to Cindy.
Cindy's mom had a little turtle in her hand! As Cindy looked closer, she saw that one of his legs was in bad
shape.“I think I broke his leg”, Mom said.“I'm really sorry. Will you help me take care of him back to health ”
A turtle moved slowly, so he probably could not run away when he saw the lawnmower coming. And
Cindy's mom could not see him in the tall grass. It was a mistake, but Cindy and her mom would do something to

challenge you physically, such as rock climbing. While, this may be hard to do, and here are four great reasons to

something bad. Helping teens develop a hobby is helping them stay out of trouble.

This week we learned about pollution. I never knew that rubbish was so interesting.
On Tuesday, all of our classmates cleaned up the school yard. We took bags and picked up bottles, paper
and other rubbish. It was great to see everyone working together.
Later that day, Brian, Danny and I went for a walk around our neighbourhood. When we saw rubbish, we
picked up. Danny found a used toy car with one broken wheel. He took it home, cleaned it and fixed it by himself.
On Wednesday, we sorted our school's rubbish correctly. We put on gloves and divided the rubbish into
different kinds: glass, metal, plastic, paper and everything else. Most of the rubbish was paper. People wasted a
lot of paper! There was less plastic than paper and more plastic than metal. There was the least amount of glass.
Today is the fourth day. Danny made a car out of rubbish! He used a big box for the body and pieces of
wood for the seats. It was great!
Later this month, we will go on a class trip to the city rubbish center. Thousands of tons of rubbish are sent
there every day. We will see the workers sort all of our rubbish. Rubbish is harmful to our environment. I am only
one person, but if I do my part, the earth will become a cleaner and safer place. If each of us does something for
the environment, all of us will have a better life. Let's take action from now on!

第二节 阅读表达(共 5 题;每题 2 分,满分 10 分)

When it comes to body language, we often overlook eye contact. Eye contact means looking into another
person's eyes. It can be the key to communicating and behaving well. Eye contact can show feelings such as
friendliness, interest and understanding.
In Western countries, it's important to know about some basic cultures of eye contact in conversations. If
you do not use eye contact, Westerners may think that you are not listening to them. What's more, if you look
away, they may also think that you are lying. This may make them get angry at you easily.
However, in many Asian countries, one of the useful suggestions is to look down when you talk with an
older person, like a teacher or a parent. It is considered to be polite. These differences can cause problems. For
example, while listening to a Western speaker, an Asian person might look down. But the Western speaker might
think this person is not interested in what he or she is saying.
Not using eye contact can cause problems, but using too much is not polite either. In many countries,
watching other people, especially strangers, for a long time is impolite. This may make them feel nervous.
Cultural differences in body language and communication may lead to misunderstandings between people
from different backgrounds. So it's important to know cultural differences before you go somewhere.
