For Chen Sheng, caring for the elderly is more than a job—it’s a calling in his heart. Chen Sheng was raised by his grandparents, and his dream was to take care of more elderly people. After graduating (毕业), he completed eight months of training in a local hospital and started to work in a nursing home.
What he met was more difficult than expected. He got up at 6 a.m. to help with morning tasks. Often, his day didn’t end until 11 p.m. He wanted to quit at first, but after a period, the warmth and trust he received from the elderly changed his mind, so he stuck to it.
Using his medical knowledge, Chen Sheng takes care of the elderly in a proper way. "I arrived at the nursing home with lots of illnesses and could only lie in bed. After two months of good care by Chen Sheng, I was able to walk again by myself. Life here is very convenient, from satisfying daily services to good medical care.” said Grandpa Li.
Chen Sheng also gives emotional (情感的) support. He always helps the elderly feel better when they are upset. Grandma Sun likes to talk with Chen Sheng every day and always shares the things she considers valuable. Grandma Sun feels warm and happy because of Chen Sheng. Her family thanks him for his patience and great love.

① We can see circles, squares and triangles (三角形) everywhere in our daily life. Have you thought about their meanings in films Different shapes can show different features (特征) of characters in the scenes.
② Circles represent (代表) things that are soft and natural. The round shape reminds us of things that appear in nature, like the sun, flowers and so on. We can also connect circles with beautiful eyes, babies’ round faces...All these things make us feel happy and warm. This is why so many cartoon characters’ bodies-heroes, good people-are round in shape.
③ Squares show things that are unnatural or man-made, or things that are boring or old-fashioned. In Up《飞屋环游记》, Carl has a square face and wears square glasses, while Russell, an 8-year-old boy with a round face, always wears round medals (勋章). These shapes show the characters’ personalities (性格). Carl is stubborn (固执的) and lonely, while Russell is lovely and full of energy.
④ The angriest shape is the triangle. Every kid who draws a monster (怪物) uses several triangles. That’s because the shape represents fear and doubt. Look at the bad people in cartoons-they are all drawn with plenty of triangles, like Shengongbao in Ne Zha: Birth of the Demon Child. And triangles are stable (稳固的) and don’t easily fall down. In films, this feature makes bad people difficult to deal with.
⑤ Not only in cartoons, but also in other kinds of films, different shapes are used to show characters’ personalities. So, if we learn to notice these shapes, they can help us understand the characters better.
26.Which of the following cartoon characters will probably make people feel warm
A. B. C. D.
27.How does the writer explain the relationship between squares and characters’personalities
A. By telling a story. B. By giving an example.
C. By raising a question. D. By listing numbers.
28.Which of the following is true according to the passage
A. Cartoon characters with round shapes can be unfriendly and sad.
B. Cartoon characters with a square face can be lovely and full of energy.
C. Triangles are the most widely used shape in films.
D. Cartoon characters with triangle features can be hard to deal with.
29.Which is the correct structure of the passage (①=Paragraph 1 ②=Paragraph2,···)
A. B.
C. D.
30.What does the passage mainly talk about
A. What different shapes represent in films.
B. What makes children fall in love with heroes in cartoons.
C. How directors make cartoons with different shapes.
D. Why cartoons and other films have something in common.

I’m glad to know that you are coming to China.
The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival in China. It is a time for family reunions. On New Year’s Eve, we usually have a big dinner together. Children are always very excited because they can get lucky money in red envelopes.
When you meet someone for the first time, you should shake hands and say “Nihao” with a friendly smile. Besides, Chinese table manners are also important. It’s polite to wait for elders to start eating first. Remember not to point at others with your chopsticks, which is considered rude.
Looking forward to your coming to China.
Yours,
Teng Fei
