一、时间状语从句
1. 定义
用表示时间的连词连接一个句子作状语,这样的主从复合句叫作时间状语从句,它在一个句子中说明主句动作发生的时间。常见的引导词有when(当……时候)、before(在……之前)、after(在……之后)、as(随着……)、while(当……时)、as soon as(一……就……)和 till / until(直到)等。
2. 时态
（1）当表示现在的动作时，主句和从句同用现在时态。如：
I usually stay at home when my mother goes shopping. 我妈妈去购物时，我通常待在家里。
（2）当表示过去的动作时，主句和从句同用过去时态。如：
I waited until it got dark. 我一直等到天黑。
（3）当表示将来的动作时，主句用一般将来时，从句用一般现在时，即“主将从现”。如：
When your father returns, he will bring some gifts for you. 当你爸爸回来的时候，他会给你带些礼物。
3. 用法
引导词 含义及用法 举 例

after 意为“在……之后”,引导时间状语从句,表示主句动作发生在从句动作之后 The Sun came out after the storm ceased. 暴风雨停止后,太阳出来了。
as 引导时间状语从句时,as意为“随着……;一边……一边……”,强调主句的动作或状态伴随着从句中的动作而变化 As children grow up, they become more independent. 随着孩子们长大,他们变得更加独立。
【拓展】
1. while引导时间状语从句时,意为“当……时”,与when的区别如下:

while 从句的谓语动词必须是延续性动词,强调主句和从句的动作同时发生 My mother was cooking while I was doing my homework. 当我在做作业时,我的妈妈在做饭。
2. until、as soon as引导时间状语从句的用法。
(1)until引导时间状语从句:当主句是肯定句,until意为“直到……为止”;当主句是否定句,until意为“直到……才（开始）”。如:
I'll wait for her here until she comes back. 我将在这里等到她回来为止。
I did not work until she came back. 我直到她回来了才开始工作。
(2)as soon as意为“一……就……”, 引导时间状语从句时,表示主句的动作紧跟着从句的动作发生。如:
As soon as I reach Canada, I will ring you up. 我一到加拿大,就给你打电话。
二、used to的用法
含义 意为“曾经；过去……”，表示过去与现在的对比，暗含现在已经不存在的动作或状态 肯定句 主语+used to+动词原形. I used to be afraid of the dark. 我以前很怕黑。
否定句 主语+didn't use to+动词原形. I didn't use to walk to school. 我过去不会步行上学。
一般疑问句 Did+主语+use to+动词原形？ 肯定回答：Yes,主语+did. 否定回答：No,主语+didn't. —Did he use to be a soldier 他过去是一名士兵吗？
—Yes,he did. 是的,他过去是一名士兵。
—No, he didn't. 不是,他过去不是一名士兵。
反意疑问句 主语+used to+动词原形,didn't+主语？ 肯定回答：Yes, 主语+did. 否定回答：No, 主语+didn't. —She used to stay up late to watch TV, didn't she 她过去常常熬夜看电视,不是吗？
—Yes, she did. 是的，她过去常常熬夜看电视。
—No, she didn't. 不是，她过去没有熬夜看电视。
