一、it作形式主语
当动词不定式在句子中作主语时,为了保持句子平衡,避免头重脚轻,常用it作形式主语置于句首,而将真正的主语——动词不定式放在句尾。此时的it起引导作用,没有词义。it 作形式主语时有以下两种常考句型:
1. It is+adj.+for sb+to do sth.
It is+adj.+for sb+to do sth. 意为“对某人来说,做某事是……的。”,其中的形容词用来描述事物的特征,常见的此类形容词有:difficult、 convenient、 important、 impossible、 possible、 necessary、 easy、 hard等。如:
It is difficult for me to fall asleep. 我很难入睡。
It is important for us not to play in dangerous places. 不到危险的地方玩耍对我们来说是重要的。
2. It is+adj. +of sb+to do sth.
It is+adj.+of sb+to do sth. 意为“某人做某事是……的。”,其中的形容词用来描述人的性格、品质等,常见的此类形容词有:nice、 kind、 polite、 rude、 clever、 good、 foolish、 wise、 cruel等。如:
It is kind of you to help me. 你帮助我真是太友善了。
It was foolish of her not to follow her mother's advice. 她不听她妈妈的劝告,真是愚蠢。
二、adj.+enough+to do sth
adj.+enough+to do sth 意为 “足够……去做某事”,enough用作副词,修饰前面的形容词,表示程度,enough后面的动词不定式表示结果。如:
The boy is tall enough to reach the book on the shelf. 这个男孩足够高,能够得着架子上的书。
The towel is soft enough not to hurt my skin. 这条毛巾足够柔软,不会伤害我的皮肤。
【拓展】
1. 动词+adv. +enough+to do sth 也意为“足够……去做某事”,是关于enough的另一常见结构,此时enough用于修饰前面的副词。如:
She sings well enough to join the choir. 她唱得足够好,可以加入合唱团。
2. not … enough to … 可与too … to … 互换使用,not后面接的形容词是too后面接的形容词的反义词。如:
The baby panda is not old enough to eat bamboo. =The baby panda is too young to eat bamboo. 熊猫宝宝太小了,还不能吃竹子。
