Young Macao locals suggest places to go!
Long Chao Kok
Long Chao Kok is in the southern part of Macao and is known for its uniquely shaped “dragon’s claw rock”.
This place is a great location to enjoy Macao’s sunrise and sunset. I remember once I went there with a friend to watch the sunrise. As the sun broke through the clouds, the whole sky was filled with golden light. At that moment, it felt like all the stress from the exams had disappeared. So if you visit Macao, be sure to give it a try!
Cai Pou-ieng 21
Calcada da Igreja de S. Lazaro
In this area, you can visit the Albergue de Santa Casa de Misericordia (仁慈堂婆仔屋). In the past, it served as a shelter for the poor and survivors, but now part of it has been turned into an exhibition hall. Here, you can enjoy works of local art and creative designs. I highly recommend visiting during the holidays, as many art stands will be set up.
Huang Zhirou 18
Vong Kei Cafe
Despite having “cafe” in its name, Vong Kei Cafe is actually a tea restaurant. This type of restaurant is unique to the region and known for its multicultural menu, featuring dishes like curry fish balls, pineapple buns (菠萝包) and pork chop buns (猪扒包). I highly recommend trying the pork chop bun here. The pork chop is deep-fried and placed inside a toasted bun that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Li Ziqi is back! After more than three years’ break, one of China’s most beloved influencers, who had been celebrated worldwide for her description of rural Chinese life through videos, returned on Nov 12.
Li marked her comeback with two new videos. One details how she transformed a shed into a woodland coatroom while the other demonstrates the process of making wardrobe doors using the intangible cultural heritage of Chinese lacquer-ware (漆器) techniques. These videos quickly went viral on social media. By Nov 22, her lacquer-ware video had 140 million views on Sina Weibo.
Fans from around the globe expressed their excitement. “Three years! It’s been three years since you last updated! Do you know how I’ve survived these three years You’re finally back! I’m so excited!” commented one Weibo user.
For Li, the past three years were an opportunity to delve deeply into Chinese traditional arts. “I traveled to more than 20 provinces, visiting over 100 intangible cultural heritage inheritors,” Li told Xinhua. She spoke with craftsmen, studied their skills and explored folk culture, learning about the stories, historical context and materials behind these crafts, all to share them with the world through her videos.
Although many vloggers have attempted to copy Li’s style during her absence, none have reached her level of popularity.
One key reason is the high quality of her videos. “Her videos show not only the production process of traditional Chinese cuisine and handicrafts but also the wisdom from nature and history,” praised Rednet. “She would spend several months making a single video. Her pursuit of perfection is difficult for many vloggers to copy.”
Moreover, fans admire the slow-paced rhythm of her content. “She is willing to slow down and focus on only one thing, which is healing in today’s noisy and fast-paced world,” noted one follower.
“People’s love for Li’s videos reflects modern individuals’ beautiful imagination of rural life and their longing for easiness,” commented Southern Weekly. “This shared value goes beyond time and circumstances.”
4. How did Li Ziqi officially return after her three-year break
A. By holding a press conference on Nov. B. By going viral on social media.

Since Donald Trump’s election win, one word has been in the news a lot around the world: tariffs (关税). Trump has promised to make tariffs a key focus of his second term. He wants a 10 percent basic tariff on all US imports and a 60 percent tariff on Chinese goods, according to CBS News. He also threatened to put tariffs on countries such as Mexico and Canada.
But what are tariffs A tariff is a tax a country puts on goods imported from abroad, explained The Guardian. While Trump claims foreign countries pay these tariffs, they are actually paid by US companies importing the goods, with the costs often passed on to consumers. Tariffs aim to protect industries in the US but also raise prices for groceries. Another often-ignored part is that Trump plans to use tariffs to make up for $7.5 trillion (about 55 trillion yuan) in government income lost from new and permanent tax cuts over the next 10 years, The Guardian noted.
The effect of these tariffs on consumers could be serious. Economists have argued that tariffs can lead to inflation (通货膨胀), making goods more expensive, CNN reported. The Peterson Institute for International Economics estimates Trump’s planned tariffs would cost the average family over 2,600 each year.
This policy is especially confusing since the top three countries Trump plans to put tariffs on — Canada, Mexico and China — are also the US’ biggest trading partners. These three countries made up 43 percent of imports in 2023, worth more than 1.3 trillion, according to the US Census Bureau. These important goods include oil from Canada and cars produced in Mexico. Therefore, targeting these countries with tariffs would greatly harm the US economy itself.
While tariffs can protect certain industries in some cases, they often do harm to free global trade in the process. Retaliatory (报复性的) tariffs from targeted countries risk causing greater tensions and economic losses. Canada and Mexico, for example, have already suggested they plan to revenge with tariffs of their own, which could further reduce demand for US goods abroad.
As Liu Pengyu, spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in the US, put it: “No one will win a trade war.”
8. What can be inferred from the text
A. Foreign countries will directly pay the tariffs Trump plans to raise.
B. The only purpose of Trump’s tariff plan is to protect industries in the US.
C. US consumers will ultimately bear the financial burden of the tariffs.
D. The US government will gain a large amount of income from the new tax cuts.
9. Why would targeting Canada, Mexico and China with tariffs harm the US economy
A. Because it is not very helpful in encouraging the American economy.
B. Because the US imports a small amount of goods from the 3 countries.
C. Because the goods imported from the 3 countries aren’t essential to the US.
D. Because the three countries made up a large proportion of US imports in 2023.
10. What is Paragraph 5 mainly about
A. The significance of tariff wars. B. The negative impacts of tariff wars.
C. The excellent effects of tariff wars. D. The potential benefits of tariff wars.
11. What is the author’s attitude towards trade wars
A. Supportive. B. Negative. C. Indifferent. D. Objective.
D
Oysters are enjoyed as delicious dishes around the world. More than that, they are also “ecosystem engineers”. Facing a falling local oyster population, a group in New York began its “Billion Oyster Project (BOP)” to bring back this natural resource, with this year marking its 10th anniversary, reported the BBC. Oysters help clean the water by removing pollutants like nitrogen (氮), which can cause too much algae (藻类) to grow. Oysters’ ability to make things pass through can help the whole ecosystem, Carrie Roble, a scientist, told the BBC.
As young oysters come together on shells and grow up over generations, they form reefs (礁石) that provide homes for hundreds of species, creating a lively city for sea plants and animals. Oyster reefs also protect shores by acting like natural walls, making big waves smaller and reducing flooding and erosion (侵蚀).
To help bring back oyster reefs, the BOP project places oyster babies into rivers in metal cages filled with empty shells and man-made reef balls, using donated shells from restaurants as key materials. These shells offer the necessary hard surface and calcium carbonate (碳酸钙) for young oysters to “feel at home” and finally create an oyster reef.
Thanks to these efforts, more than 140 million oysters have been brought back over the past 10 years in the New York City Harbor. The waterways around New York are now the cleanest they’ve been in over 100 years, according to BOP.
However, when counting oysters, it’s difficult to tell if they float there or are brought back. Baby oysters float for two weeks before finding a hard surface to call home, requiring extra lab work to check where they came from.
What’s more, silt (淤泥) from erosion makes growing oysters more difficult by covering the places they grow on. Fertilizer (化肥) use also leads to too much algae, which reduces oxygen levels.
Other than New York, there are also many similar projects in various countries and regions like Bangladesh, Australia and China’s Hong Kong SAR. Each project has its unique focus, including erosion, storms and water quality.
As for BOP, the group is on track to meet its 1-billion oyster goal by 2035, reported Science Line.
12. How can oysters help the whole ecosystem according to Carrie Roble
A. By removing micro-plastics from water. B. By entirely stopping algae from growing.
C. By getting rid of pollutants such as nitrogen. D. By offering calcium carbonate to oyster reefs.
13. What writing technique is mainly employed to describe oyster reefs in paragraphs 2-3
A. Personification. B. Exaggeration. C. Classification. D. Definition.
14. What challenge does the BOP project face
A. It’s difficult to count oysters thoroughly. B. There aren’t enough donated shells.
C. Silt covers the growth places of oysters. D. Fertilizer use makes oysters grow fast.
15. Which of the following is the best title for the text
A. Delicious dishes around the world. B. The importance of marine ecosystem.
C. Achievements of recovering reefs. D. Oysters’ journey to restore ecosystem.

I had always been the quietest member of our school’s drama club. My world was backstage, between the tall, heavy curtains and the busy equipment tables. Among the lights and props, I knew exactly where everything was and what to do. While others shone during rehearsals (排练), I found my place quietly supporting them from behind the scenes, feeling happy to be a helpful part of the team.
My drama teacher, Ms. Jenkins, noticed this. She had a way of seeing the efforts that others didn’t. One afternoon, after everyone else had left, she handed me a script (脚本) for the year-end show. “The lead role,” she said, her voice calm and certain. “I believe you have a story inside you, waiting to be told.” Her words were kind but felt like a heavy responsibility, making me stand up straighter without thinking.
My heart sank. The lead role meant speaking alone in front of everyone and standing in the bright spotlight, where I couldn’t hide. “But, Ms. Jenkins,” I stammered, holding the script tightly in both hands, “I’m not an actor. I work backstage. I might ruin the play.” The thought of forgetting my lines on stage filled me with a cold fear that made my hands feel stiff.
She smiled gently, and her eyes were warm and encouraging. “Sometimes, the biggest growth happens when we face our fears, not avoid them. Try to read it,” she said, looking right at me, “not just as lines, but as someone’s true feelings.” For days, the script lay unopened on my desk, a constant reminder of my anxiety, and I avoided looking at it. Hearing my confident classmates practice, their clear voices coming from the hall, only made me feel more like an outsider, as if I was standing outside a closed door, unsure if I could ever cross the gap between us.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。

An Unforgettable Moment in Sports Meet
The annual sports meet has ended, but one moment lingers vividly in my mind. During the 4×100m relay, our class’s third runner Zhang Wei stumbled and fell right after grabbing the baton, his knee bleeding. To everyone’s surprise, he immediately got up, limped forward, and passed the baton to the final runner.
This moment was unforgettable not for victory, but for his courage and determination. His refusal to give up moved everyone, teaching me that true glory lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we stumble. It was a powerful lesson in resilience that will stay with me.
【答案】例文
One evening, tired of my own worry, I finally picked up the script and began to read. To my surprise, the character’s feelings of being an outsider slowly started to make sense to me. I found myself reading his lines out loud in my quiet room. Each time, I imagined the scenes not as a performance, but as a true story I needed to tell. Ms. Jenkins stayed after school to practice with me, offering small corrections and constant encouragement. Her belief became a tiny, steady light in my growing confidence.
On the night of the performance, standing in the dark behind the curtain, I took a deep breath. I could hear the murmur of the audience. My hands were cold, but my mind was clear. I remembered Ms. Jenkins’ words: “Just tell the story.” The curtain rose, and the bright lights hit my face. Though still scared, I spoke the first line. The words flowed out, not from memory, but from a place of understanding. I wasn’t just a student on a stage anymore; for those moments, I truly was the character, sharing his truth. When the final line ended, the silence was broken by warm applause.
