31.Zhejiang has become China’s first province to let all primary and secondary schools have spring and autumn breaks. This important educational change aims to help students reduce stress.
Different from long summer and winter vacations, these short breaks are added during school terms. Cities in Zhejiang have their own plans. For example, Ningbo has a three-day break for both seasons, sometimes along with weekends to make longer holidays. Hangzhou, which tried this as early as 2004, had a three-day break in 2025.
This move follows a national policy from September. It wants to encourage people to go travelling and go shopping during the seasonal breaks. Foshan and Enshi have also started similar programs.
However, parents have different ideas. Many support it because it’s good for kids’ health and study interest, but others are worried because they have to work during the break. “It’s a great idea, but the main problem is that parents don’t get the same time off,” said Mr. Xie, a parent in Hangzhou. Some students even have to stay in school daycare instead of traveling.
Officials suggest that bosses should offer parental leave for the school breaks, so that the policy can work better.
With efforts from all sides, it’s hopeful that this new break policy will bring both students and families more benefits and a better life.

38.【答案】Dear Mary,
I hope this email finds you well. I just had a truly special Autumn Break, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
The break was from November 12th to 14th. I went to the countryside with my family. We stayed in a small village near the mountains. I helped my grandparents pick apples and fed the chickens. I also went hiking with my cousin along the river. The air was fresh and the leaves were golden.
It was so relaxing to stay away from the city. I felt peaceful and happy. I hope you can visit China and enjoy the beauty here too.
Yours,
Li Hua
