I used to hate my mother because she always had much work to do and didn t spend much time with me. Then one Friday morning, I took part in a three-day self-help program for teenagers. Whether you believe it or not, that weekend changed my life.
About 100 other teenagers join in the program. During the first two days, I met a lot of great people. I was glad because I made so many friends there. On Sunday, the leader played an interesting game called “Chocolate or Toys”. He asked a girl which she liked better, chocolate or toys. She chose chocolate. Then he asked her to choose again between chocolate and chocolate. Of course, she didn t have a choice.
This game told us that sometimes we don t have a choice in life, and that sometimes we have to accept something, rather than complaining(抱怨). A girl stood up and started talking about her mum who was always crazy about drinking alcohol(酒) and how much she hated her mother.
“I want a new mum,” she cried.
“But you can t have a new one,” the leader replied. “You have to accept the mother that you have.”
This hit me hard. I realized that, for better or worse, my mum was my mum. I couldn t choose another mum. But I could see my mum in a new way. She was busy with work day and night not because she didn t care about me, but to give me a better life. I should accept her and treasure the time we could have together. Accept things as they are, and better life and love will follow.
(D)59.What did the game “Chocolate or Toys” tell us?
A.Everyone often has many choices.
B.Everyone should take part in a self-help program.

D.Try to accept things instead of complaining about them.
(C)60.What can we infer from the underlined sentence “That hit me hard.”?

D.The writer didn t understand the leader s words.

C.He might try to get on well with his mother. D.He might tell his mother about the girl s story.

Have you ever felt like you re not sure how you re feeling? Or maybe you ve tried to tell someone your feelings, but they are hard to put into words? Well, there s an app for that!
Feel Now is a free app that you can use on your mobile phone. It helps teenagers think about and understand their feelings. It was designed by two 17-year-olds, Taara Verma and Siena Pradhan, from the US.
Each day, Feel Now sends a reminder to users to record a feeling. The users pick one from six feelings: happy, peaceful, angry, sad, disgusted(厌恶的) and scared. Then the app breaks down each one into 10 more feelings. For example, “scared” can be broken down into “worried” and nine other feelings. You can also describe how strongly you re feeling as “slightly(轻微地)”, “moderately(一般地)” or “highly”.
Vibha Kurdikar is a doctor. She said teenagers are often not aware of their feelings. “Kids nowadays are under a lot of stress,” Kurdikar said. “But sometimes they don t realize something is stressful until it s too late.” Feel Now helps them notice how they are feeling.
Aditi Jha, 14, has been using Feel Now for months. When she stops to examine her feelings, she sometimes notices a feeling she didn t know about. She might realize that she s worrying about a test. And then she can do something to make herself feel better.
Feel Now could be more useful if it works with apps that record exercise or sleep. But Taara and Siena think that just recognizing and recording one s feelings is valuable on its own. “The simpler it is, I think, the more people will use it,” Taara said.
(A)62.What do we know about Feel Now from Paragraph 2?

①As summer gives way to autumn, many of us find that we want warmth and sunlight very much. The shorter days make some people feel upset and lazy. They are having the so-called autumn sadness. Although autumn sadness is a common seasonable feeling for some people, it may develop into a more serious form known as seasonal affective disorder(季节性情绪失调), or SAD.
②SAD is a type of depression that mainly starts in late autumn or early winter and goes away in spring and summer. People who have SAD often oversleep, overeat, and lose interest in activities they once liked. They also feel sad and even hopeless.
③The reason for SAD is not clear enough at present, but a few things have been connected with its development. Not having enough natural light during the autumn and winter months may affect our body clock and hormone production(激素分泌). This can make you unhappy.
④People with SAD often have similar symptoms. They may sleep more but still feel tired, eat more (especially sweet or starchy(含淀粉的) foods), and lose interest in hobbies. Some even have trouble concentrating at school or work. These feelings are stronger than just “winter blues”—they can affect daily life.
⑤People with SAD often need medical help. Light treatment is a common and useful way to treat it. Doctors advise patients to get as much sunlight as possible. Light treatment helps to balance hormones and make a patient s life return to normal. Also, living a healthy life, like sleeping early, exercising often, and having a balanced diet, can also help people deal with SAD.
(C)66.What can we infer according to the text?
A.Exercising early can help people deal with SAD.
B.There is no need to take action to deal with SAD.
C.People who get less sunlight are more likely to get SAD.
D.Light treatment is not a useful way to treat it.
(B)67.Which “concentrate” below has the same meaning as the underlined word “concentrating” in Paragraph 4?
A.Fighting was concentrated around the towns to the north.
B.I can t concentrate with all that noise going on.
C.David s mum told him to concentrate the lemon juice by boiling it.
D.Miss Green mixes a little grape concentrate with water to drink every morning.
(A)68.What is the structure of the text?
A. B. C. D.
E
If you ve ever cried while watching TV, someone might say you are too emotional. But crying is normal and it s actually good for us.
Scientists don t know exactly what happens when we cry, but they know it can make us feel better. A study found that half of the people felt happier after crying. Also, when people see you cry, they are more likely to help you.
Professor Ad Vingerhoets is a doctor who studies feelings. He says crying makes others feel sorry for you and understand you. That s why they want to help and support you and be kind to you. Research also shows that people who cry seem warmer, nicer, more reliable(可靠的) and honest. Crying can make others like to be friends or work with them.
Some people may feel worse after crying or get a headache, but many feel better. “Crying is our body s way of releasing(释放) emotions,” says another doctor who helps with feelings, Anna Mathur. “When we hold in too many emotions, we can become like a pressure cooker until our body finds a way to let things out.”
Have you noticed that you feel more peaceful after crying? Or that crying when you hit your foot makes the pain go away faster? That s because of your body s response to crying. “When you cry, your body sends out special things that make you happy,” Mathur says. Some of these special things can even make pain less strong.
(A)69.Which of the following can best describe a person who cries while watching TV?
A.Emotional. B.Brave. C.Tired. D.Lazy.
(A)70.What does the underlined word “them” refer to?
A.The crying people. B.The friends. C.The researchers. D.The feelings.
(D)71.What does Anna Mathur compare holding too many emotions to?
A. B. C. D.
(C)72.What is the main idea of the text?
A.How to choose TV shows. B.Why we need to cry.
C.Crying is normal and good for us. D.How to make others sorry.
第二节 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。
F
Have you felt sad before a test? Have you ever been worried about something that makes you unable to sleep? If so, then you know what stress is. Stress is what you feel when you are worrying about something. You may feel angry, sad or even afraid, which might lead to a headache or a stomachache.
There are different kinds of stress. Some are good while others are bad. Good stress might happen when you re asked to answer questions in class or when you have to give a speech. This kind of stress can help you get things better done. For example, you may do better in your exam if the stress pushes you to prepare better before the exam.
Bad stress always happens if the stress lasts too long. You may not feel good if one of your family members is sick, if you re having problems at school, or if anything else makes you unhappy every day. That kind of stress isn t going to help you. Sometimes it can make you sick.
The best way to face the stress is to have a balanced life. Remember to keep four things in mind: sleep, exercise, leisure(休闲) and food. If you get enough sleep and eat healthily, and if you exercise often and leave more time for fun, you ll probably feel less stressed.
73.What is stress?(不超过10个词)
What you feel when you are worrying about something.
74.What does the writer think of stress?(不超过20个词)

75.Do you think stress can sometimes be helpful? Why?(不超过30个词)

Many scientists find that colours can change people s emotions. It s very interesting. For example, classroom walls are usually green because green makes students feel relaxed. It is also good for the students eyes. Some books are also green or light blue for the same reason. Restaurant owners have to know not only how to make food, but also how to make money. Here are some things they ve learnt from some studies. The colour red makes people hungry. Many fast food restaurants have red tables or walls. Soft colours like pink and light blue make people feel relaxed. So they spend more time eating. Loud music may be nice at first but it soon makes people want to leave. Hard seats also make people want to eat quickly and leave. Many restaurants especially fast food restaurants use this information to make people eat faster.

(M)Good morning, boys and girls. I m Mr Lee. Today I ll talk about how to understand and control your feelings correctly.
The first step is to accept what you re feeling. We all face pressure from school, friends, or family, and it s normal sometimes to express anger or other negative feelings. If you re feeling mad, don t be angry with yourself. Instead, tell yourself, “It s okay to feel this way.”
A good way to deal with pressure and negative moods is to listen to music. Choose a joyful song. If you play an instrument, you can use it to express what s inside. Writing is another helpful tool to control your emotions. You can keep a diary or write emails to a friend to express yourself clearly. Both can help you manage those moments when you feel upset.

I used to hate my mother because she always had much work to do and didn't spend much time with me.
Of course, she didn't have a choice.
This game told us that sometimes we don't have a choice in life, and that sometimes we have to accept something, rather than complaining(抱怨). A girl stood up and started talking about her mum who was always crazy about drinking alcohol(酒) and how much she hated her mother.
“I want a new mum,” she cried.
“But you can't have a new one,” the leader replied. “You have to accept the mother that you have.”
This hit me hard. I realized that, for better or worse, my mum was my mum. I couldn't choose another mum. But I could see my mum in a new way. She was busy with work day and night not because she didn't care about me, but to give me a better life. I should accept her and treasure the time we could have together. Accept things as they are, and better life and love will follow.
( )59.What did the game “Chocolate or Toys” tell us?
A.Everyone often has many choices.
B.Everyone should take part in a self-help program.
C.Chocolate can influence one's mind toward things.
D.Try to accept things instead of complaining about them.
D
( )60.What can we infer from the underlined sentence “That hit me hard.”?
A.The writer hurt his body by accident.
B.The writer was surprised at the girls' family.
C.The writer was touched by the leader's words.
D.The writer didn't understand the leader's words.
C
( )61.What might the writer do after the self-help program?
A.He might still avoid talking to his mother.
B.He might ask his mother to change her job.
C.He might try to get on well with his mother.
D.He might tell his mother about the girl's story.

Have you ever felt like you're not sure how you're feeling? Or maybe you've tried to tell someone your feelings, but they are hard to put into words? Well, there's an app for that!
You can also describe how strongly you're feeling as “slightly(轻微
地)”, “moderately(一般地)” or “highly”.
Vibha Kurdikar is a doctor. She said teenagers are often not aware of their feelings. “Kids nowadays are under a lot of stress,” Kurdikar said. “But sometimes they don't realize something is stressful until it's too late.” Feel Now helps them notice how they are feeling.
Aditi Jha, 14, has been using Feel Now for months. When she stops to examine her feelings, she sometimes notices a feeling she didn't know about. She might realize that she's worrying about a test. And then she can do something to make herself feel better.
Feel Now could be more useful if it works with apps that record exercise or sleep. But Taara and Siena think that just recognizing and recording one's feelings is valuable on its own. “The simpler it is, I think, the more people will use
it,” Taara said.
( )62.What do we know about Feel Now from Paragraph 2?

Light treatment helps to balance hormones and make a patient's life return to normal. Also, living a healthy life, like sleeping early, exercising often, and having a balanced diet, can also help people deal with SAD.
( )66.What can we infer according to the text?
A.Exercising early can help people deal with SAD.
B.There is no need to take action to deal with SAD.
C.People who get less sunlight are more likely to get SAD.
D.Light treatment is not a useful way to treat it.
C
( )67.Which “concentrate” below has the same meaning as the underlined word “concentrating” in Paragraph 4?

D.Miss Green mixes a little grape concentrate with water to drink every morning.

If you've ever cried while watching TV, someone might say you are too emotional. But crying is normal and it's actually good for us.
Scientists don't know exactly what happens when we cry, but they know it can make us feel better. A study found that half of the people felt happier after crying. Also, when people see you cry, they are more likely to help you.
Professor Ad Vingerhoets is a doctor who studies feelings. He says crying makes others feel sorry for you and understand you. That's why they want to help and support you and be kind to you. Research also shows that people who cry seem warmer, nicer, more reliable(可靠的) and honest. Crying can make others like to be friends or work with them.
Some people may feel worse after crying or get a headache, but many feel better. “Crying is our body's way of releasing(释放) emotions,” says another doctor who helps with feelings, Anna Mathur. “When we hold in too many emotions, we can become like a pressure cooker until our body finds a way to let things out.”
Have you noticed that you feel more peaceful after crying? Or that crying when you hit your foot makes the pain go away faster? That's because of your body's response to crying. “When you cry, your body sends out special things that make you happy,” Mathur says. Some of these special things can even make pain less strong.
( )69.Which of the following can best describe a person who cries while watching TV?
A.Emotional. B.Brave.

第二节 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。

Have you felt sad before a test? Have you ever been worried about something that makes you unable to sleep? If so, then you know what stress is. Stress is what you feel when you are worrying about something. You may feel angry, sad or even afraid, which might lead to a headache or a stomachache.
There are different kinds of stress. Some are good while others are bad. Good stress might happen when you're asked to answer questions in class or when you have to give a speech. This kind of stress can help you get things better done. For example, you may do better in your exam if the stress pushes you to prepare better before the exam.
Bad stress always happens if the stress lasts too long. You may not feel good if one of your family members is sick, if you're having problems at school, or if anything else makes you unhappy every day. That kind of stress isn't going to help you. Sometimes it can make you sick.
The best way to face the stress is to have a balanced life. Remember to keep four things in mind: sleep, exercise, leisure(休闲) and food. If you get enough sleep and eat healthily, and if you exercise often and leave more time for fun, you'll probably feel less stressed.

C.Chocolate can influence one s mind toward things.
D.Try to accept things instead of complaining about them.
(C)60.What can we infer from the underlined sentence “That hit me hard.”?
A.The writer hurt his body by accident.
B.The writer was surprised at the girls family.
C.The writer was touched by the leader s words.
D.The writer didn t understand the leader s words.
(C)61.What might the writer do after the self-help program?
A.He might still avoid talking to his mother. B.He might ask his mother to change her job.
C.He might try to get on well with his mother.

①It is a free app. ②It was designed by teenagers. ③It can be used on mobile phones.

The writer thinks there are different kinds of stress. Some are good while others are bad.
75.Do you think stress can sometimes be helpful? Why?(不超过30个词)
