It is said that by 2050, about 60% people around the world will live in smart cities. Our city, Zhangjiakou, is also actively working on developing a smart city. In fact, a smart city can be like a big and clever machine. For example, the rubbish bins “tell” the cleaners when to clean. The buildings can “talk” to computers to control lights and temperature to save electricity. Different technologies make these things come true. They work together to make a city smart.
Internet of things Can your smartwatch whisper to your home When you’re near your house, your smartwatch sends a secret signal to turn on the lights, even tell your cook to begin to make your afternoon tea. Feng Yao and Meng Qi found their city library didn’t have enough Braille (盲文) books for blind people and many of the Braille books were old.
So they decided to help the blind by fixing the problem. Feng and Meng both studied at No.37 Middle School in Taiyuan, Shanxi. They invented (发明) a new kind of Braille reader. Their Braile reader can turn words into raised dots (凸起的点). Blind people can read by touching the dots. Their work won the first prize in a national competition. The competition helps young students to develop creative thinking and solve common problems.
“We found that today’s Braille readers are very difficult and expensive,” Feng said. “So we wanted to develop a user-friendly product (产品) for young blind children from grades 1 to 3. It is only about 2,000 yuan.”
After making their first machine, Feng and Meng visited a school for the blind to get advice and improved it according to the students’ needs, like changing the size of the screen and the space between the dots.
“The latest Braille readers now are expensive for most blind people. We hope the product will be in use and help those blind people soon,” Meng told Taiyuan News.

“Are you an ‘i-person’ or an ‘e-person’ ” This question has been talked about by many young people online recently. It’s part of a popular personality (性格) test called MBTI.
The MBTI test divides people into sixteen personality types, such as INFJ, INTP, ESTP and ESFJ. “I” or “E” is the first letter. People are either “I”, usually quiet, or “E”, usually outgoing.
It seems interesting for many young people to use the MBTI result to describe someone’s personality. I once took the result seriously. But one day, I was surprised to see my sister Lucy making a study plan for the summer holiday. She is a “p-person” according to the test result. “P-persons” usually don’t like to make plans. “I thought you were a ‘p-person’,” I said. “Why do I need to follow what my personality test tells me It’s just for fun,” she answered. Yes, she was right. The test was just for fun.
Maybe the MBTI personality test tells you something about someone. And it can also be a way to start up a talk when you meet new friends. However, the four letters don’t tell you everything about a person. Don’t let the MBTI result tell you who you are.
62.How many kinds of personalities are there in the MBTI test
A.2. B.4. C.8. D.16.
63.An “e-person” is usually________ than an “i-person” according to the MBTI result.
A.smarter B.quieter C.more outgoing D.more popular
64.What can we learn about the MBTI personality test
A.It is completely scientific.
B.It is the best way to get to know someone.

D.It is something you can talk about when making friends.
65.Where can we read this passage
A.In a dictionary. B.In a diary.
C.In a magazine. D.In a history book.
D
For only 20 yuan, Fang Wenjing could buy her lunch at a community canteen (社区食堂) in Hangzhou. She had a meat dish, a vegetable dish and a bowl of rice. “The dishes are cheap, healthy and have a home-cooked taste. That’s why people like them,” said Fang.
Community canteens have become more and more popular in China these days. They were made for old people at first but soon became young people's favourite dining places. It can be difficult for some old people to cook on their own, so the canteens can provide help. They can have lunch and dinner in a 10-minute walk, or the community workers can bring the dishes to them. Zhang Suxia, a worker at a community canteen in Hangzhou, said that the cook made special meals for the old.
Now, the community canteens are bringing in more young people. For those who don’t want to order takeout meals or eat at restaurants, the canteens provide them with healthier and cheaper dishes. This also makes community canteens try to think of innovative ways to provide food and make things easier for people. A canteen in Beijing’s Lugu Community brings out buffet-style (自助模式) dishes. The dishes there are just 2.48 yuan/100g. The price is lower than that of restaurants close by.
The growth of community canteens couldn’t happen without the work of local governments (当地政府). They provide money for building the canteens as well as part of the dining expenses (花费) of the old people.
66.What might Fang think of the food that she bought from the canteen
A.Terrible and simple. B.Healthy and good.
C.Delicious but expensive. D.Cheap but not delicious.
67.What can we know about the community canteens
A.Many of their workers are old people.
B.They’re near the old people’s living places.
C.They only provide food for old people.
D.Old people can have all the dishes for free.
68.Why are community canteens becoming more popular among young people
A.Because they provide takeout meals.
B.Because they have a buffet-style service.
C.Because they are closer to their homes.
D.Because they provide healthier and cheaper dishes.
69.What’s the meaning of the underlined word “innovative”in the text
A.Common. B.Difficult. C.Fair. D.Creative.
70.What’s the best title for the text
A.Community Canteens: Popular Among All Ages
B.The Best Community Canteen in China
C.Young People Love Community Canteens
D.Providing Best Meals for the Old
