The passage centered on excerpts from O. Henry’s short story After Twenty Years,including Author introduction and Story excerpt. After reading the passage, students need to predict the ending of the story.
1.Covers O. Henry’s life and writing style (focusing on ordinary people in New York, famous for "surprise endings");
2. Lets students experience the theme of "ordinary people’s fate and emotions" in American literature, and understand the meaning of "commitment" in relationships.
