I have trouble with phrasal verbs. There are so many of them, and it seems impossible to work out the meanings just from the words. Some have multiple definitions, like put off, which means postpone, discourage someone from doing something, or make someone dislike something. I try to use them but often get them wrong!
My classmates suggested two things: make flash cards (write the phrasal verb on one side and a sentence with it on the other) to study in free time, like on the bus; use the phrasal verb in a sentence that is true for me to remember it easily. For example, I always put off doing my homework.
I think their advice is great. From now on, I’ll write down new phrasal verbs, make sentences with them, and maybe draw pictures to help memorize them.
