Mia, a pre-adolescent of twelve years, is currently embarking on an annual peregrination with her progenitors and trio of juvenile siblings, distant from their domicile in Quebec, Canada.
试卷第 4 页,共 15 页
The familial unit has partaken in equine excursions through the Mongolian steppes, navigated
waterways in Cambodia via kayak, sojourned amidst the Namibian wilderness, and soared above the Turkish landscape in a hot air balloon, all in pursuit of a repository of experiences that may occur but once in their existence.
These reminiscences hold profound significance as, barring a scientific marvel in the near term, the progeny are destined to succumb to blindness in their maturation. They have been
afflicted with a malady that lacks efficacious intervention and possesses an indeterminate schedule, progressively depriving them of the faculty of vision.
The revelations of their conditions emerged in 2015. In the face of sorrow, the parents were struck by Mia’s composure at the tender age of seven. She proclaimed the necessity to cultivate an environment of order within her chamber, ensuring that every object held its rightful place. “I
shall require prescience of the location of all articles,” Mia articulated.
“She is autonomously devising remedies,” the parents remarked to one another. “We must adhere to her guidance.” Consequently, the concept of a yearlong expedition was conceived, one designed to expose the offspring to the panorama of the globe, in a manner both direct and
intimate — whilst their visual faculties remained intact. For the subsequent biennium, the
progenitors have amassed financial resources and investigated prospective destinations. “The disparity in the perspectival apprehension of the world by adults and children is vast,” the
matriarch, Edith, remarked. “Our journey must eschew a focus on religious monuments and institutions of learning, instead gravitating towards whatever captures their gaze.”
As the odyssey commenced its conclusion in the nascent stages of 2023, the family had
traversed 52,000 miles and traversed eighteen nations. Mia, elongated in stature and on the cusp of adolescence, sought greater autonomy. Her confreres in youth were transformed, exuding an
enhanced air of assurance and sociability. The progeny were acutely conscious of the wealth of knowledge they had amassed. “Existence is replete with affliction and destitution, yet it is also abundant in virtue and intriguing phenomena. We ought to maintain a positive stance,” Mia
pronounced.

From “gig-tripping” to “travel dupes” to “hush trips,” the number of new travel trends is seemingly endless. But perhaps the most appealing concept in the tourism space of late is the
“sleepeation”. So much of travel these days seems to involve running ourselves ragged trying to hit every amazing attraction we see on TikTok and Instagram. Sleepcations, however, take the polar opposite approach to vacation.
According to Skyscanner’s 2024 travel trends report, nearly 50% of American travelers surveyed say they are more willing to take a vacation with the intention to get a good night or a few good nights of sleep now compared to a few years ago. The research also showed that
sleeping topped the list ofU. S. travelers ’ main activities for their next vacation, outranking shopping, nightlife and wildlife spotting.
While some wellness resorts have been focusing on sleep for years, now more and more resorts and hotels, from luxury to lifestyle and even budget-friendly properties, are making sure that sleep is as the forefront of a stay. The Malibu Beach Inn in Southern California features two

designated “sleep suites”, and the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on Hawaii’s Big Island offers an 80-minute “sweet dreams” massage treatment meant to promote a good night’s rest. Virgin Hotels Dallasoffers blackout curtains in each room and bedtime amenities(便利设施)like bath bombs and relaxation spray. Although these amenities and services might seem like unnecessary luxuries, the reality is that doing whatever you can to prioritize sleep is quite important.
“Most people don’t get the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep per night,” noted
Danielle Desir Corbett, a luxury travel and personal finance expert. “Over time, this ‘sleep debt’
can have serious health implications, affecting cognitive(认知的)function, mood, weight, and
immune systems. Sleep is even linked to chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and
hypertension. Sleepeations focus on rest and rejuvenation and can be a powerful tool in preventing health issues.”
28 .What did Skyscanner’s 2024 travel trends report find
A .Travelers are more mindful of their sleep health.
B .The travelers’ activities are more and more varied.
C .Only a few travelers are interested in sleep tourism.
D .Sleep is good for our physical and mental wellness.
29 .Why does the author mention the hotels in Paragraph 3
A .To show us the luxuries of the hotels.
B .To emphasize the importance of sleep.
C .To prove the popularity of sleepcation.
D .To make an advertisement for the hotels.
30 .What is Danielle Desir Corbett’s attitude towards sleepcation
A .Unclear. B .Doubtful.
C .Opposed. D .Approving.
31 .What is the best title for the text

Travel journals have long been treasured by adventurers, from the detailed logs of ancient explorers navigating uncharted lands to the digital notes of modern travelers documenting global journeys. 36 However, they are precious accounts that capture the essence of your journey — places explored, people encountered, and moments lived.
Keeping a travel journal offers a wealth of benefits. It preserves fleeting intangible details, like the fresh smells on a Parisian street corner or the rhythmic crash of waves breaking on a
distant shore. 37 By reflecting on your experiences in writing, you’re strengthening those memories and making them easier to recall later. More than that, journaling becomes a path to
self-discovery, as the reflection allows them to process emotions stirred by new horizons. In
addition, it serves as a creative outlet, a canvas for creativity, where stories, drawings, and dreams are woven together.

More people are travelling than ever before, and lower barriers to entry and falling costs means they are doing so for periods.
The rise of “city breaks” 48-hour bursts of foreign cultures, easier on the pocket and annual leave balance has increased tourist numbers, but not their spread. The same attractions have been used to market cities such as Paris, Barcelona and Venice for decades, and visitors use the same infrastructure (基础设施) as residents to reach them. “Too many people do the same

thing at the exact same time,” says Font, an expert in tourism. “For , the city no longer belongs to them.”
In response to this situation, cities have come up with various solutions. For instance,
Amsterdam has started advising visitors to seek outside of the city center on its official website.” That takes courage, really, to do that. But only so many people will look at the website, and it means they can say to their residents they’re doing all they can to congestion.”
But it also proposes a better way, which is called “de-tourism”; sustainable travel tips and schedules for exploring a real Venice, off the paths beaten by the 28 million visitors who flock
there each year.
A greater variety of for prospective visitors — ideas for what to do in off-peak
seasons, for example, or outside of the city center — can have the effect of removing them from
already crowded landmarks, or short breaks away in the first place. Longer stays the pressure, says Font. “If you go to Paris for two days, you’re going to the Eiffel Tower. If you
go for two weeks, you’re not going to go to the Eiffel Tower 14 times.” Similarly, repeal visitors have a better sense of the . “ We should be asking how we can get tourists
to , not how to get them to come for the first time. If they’re coming for the fifth time, it is much easier to integrate their behaviors with ours.”
Font says cities could stand to be more about the tourists they try to attract
when the current metric for marketing success is how many there are, and how far they’ve come. “You’re thinking. ‘yeah but at what cost...’” He points to unpublished data from the Barcelona
Tourist Board that prioritizes Japanese tourist for spending an average of 640 more per day than
French tourists — a (n) that fails to take into account Japanese bigger carbon footprint. tourists are also more likely to be repeat visitors that come at off-peak times, buy local products,
and spread out to less crowded parts of the city — all productive steps towards more tourism, and more peaceful relations with residents.

was feeling perfectly confident. The clean Peruvian air still refreshed my lungs and the brain fog
caused by my daily phone use hadn’t returned. The bad events that came next started once I turned my phone back on. Responding to a Twitter request for Peru tips, a stranger posted: “Try
mountain biking down a volcano in Arequipa! ”
Those eight words changed everything. I quickly said goodbye to my biking friend and
changed my flight. As someone who loves excitement, the idea seemed too good to miss. I’ve
skydived, slid down sand hills, flown with parachutes, and leaped (跳) off New Zealand’s tallest tower. I share this not to boast, but to acknowledge a pattern in my life. Normal life always made me feel dull without regular adventures to make me feel alive. Riding down a volcano sounded
like something I couldn’t let pass.
I had trouble finding a tour group that would take me alone, which should have been a
warning, but I finally managed to find one. I began the two-hour journey up the volcano with my guide and driver. At 4, 200 meters, the volcano towers over the city. As the car moved over rocky bumps (隆起部分), a familiar mix of fear and excitement filled me—the feeling of being truly
alive.
At the top, I put on the necessities and extra clothes. At first, going down the winding rocky path was wonderful. I sang Life by Des’ree as excitement rushed through me. My guide pointed
out three rough shortcuts straight down the slope(斜坡). I said no to the first three as they looked too steep(陡峭的), but finally agreed to the fourth.
Suddenly the ground was almost at a 30-degree angle. I stopped singing. Fear shot through me. I yelled loudly. “Good job, Mr. Gary! ” My guide laughed as I made it down a steep part.
“Remember, don’t brake on the slope. ”

The bike then went alarmingly fast. I grew scared. I held off braking as far as possible.
Seeing my guide waving wildly ahead to slow down, I braked hard and slid, dust flying
everywhere. My back wheel lifted, throwing me over the handles. The bike landed on me. I felt a terrible pain in my wrist. Defeated, I asked my guide to call a covered vehicle to take me down. And I went to a clinic. My wrist was broken so badly that several months later it still isn’t fully healed.
During my wrist injury recovery, I’ve reconsidered risky activities. I now understand that
short moments of excitement aren’t worth long recovery times. I’ve stopped dangerous sports like mountain biking and extreme climbing. A doctor recently has found I have attention problems,
which explains my past risky choices. The thrill of “live for the moment” fades when you’re in a
hospital with a huge bill. While I still enjoy safe adventures like camping, I’ve learned to value
my health more than temporary thrills. This experience has changed how I see risk and
responsibility. Sometimes planning for tomorrow is better than risking today.
