1.insist (同根词：resist；assist）
①表示“坚持”时，与persist，persevere的区别
② insist that...(should)do...“坚持要某人做某事”（虚拟语气）
虚拟语气用在主句含“坚持、命令、建议、要求”的名词性从句中，
常用动词有: 一坚持:insist ; 二命令:order,command;
三建议:advise,suggest ,recommend;
四要求;require,request,demand , desire urge.
谓语动词常用 shoud+动词原形（should可以省略）的形式。

One possible version：
On a sunny weekend, Lily and her friends went to a lake that they used to visit and enjoy it. However, the water was very dirty. Lily was puzzled about it. She insisted on reporting the pollution situation to the local environmental protection department. She told her friends about the urgency of the matter in a gentle voice and urged her friends to join in it. In response, the department soon announced a ban on dumping garbage into the lake, and the lake gradually returned to its original state.
