Jenny shakes her head and looks away, hiding her hair under her hood.
v. 摇头;摇动 shake-shook-shaken
(1)shake one’s head 摇头; (2) shake hands握手
e.g. 请帮我摇一摇果汁。
Please help me shake the juice.

2. hide

v. 隐藏;躲藏 hide-hid-hidden
(1) hide from 躲避(某人/ 事物) ;回避
(2) hide behind 躲在……后面
(3) hide sb./sth. from sb. 把某人/ 某物藏起来不让某人看见
e.g.(1) She hid the birthday present from her kids until the party.
她把生日礼物藏起来不让孩子们发现,直到派对时才拿给孩子们。
(2) The children hid behind the door to surprise their mom.

“Danny, your friend is setting a boundary. You need to respect it!” warns Mr Dino.
v. 警告
warn sb. (not) to do sth. 警告某人(不要) 做某事
warn sb. about/of sth. 警告某人某事
e.g. 老师警告我们不要在走廊里跑。
The teacher warned us not to run in the hallway.
这个标志提醒人们注意深水(危险) 。
The sign warns people about/of the deep water.

warn (sb.) that + 从句 警告(某人) ……
e.g. 他警告我晚上不要去那儿。

Danny nods and says, “I get it.”
v. 点头,打盹 nod-nodded-nodded
(1) nod one’s head 点头;
(2) nod at/to sb. 向某人点头示意
(3) nod off 打盹;打瞌睡
e.g. (1) My mom nodded her head when I asked to go to the library.
我请求去图书馆时,妈妈点了点头.
(2)The student nodded to show he understood the question.
这个学生点头表示他理解了这个问题。




n. 点头 give sb./sth. the nod 允许,对……表示同意
e.g. (1) Keep him outside till I give you the nod. 没我同意,别让他进来。


5. step away from
Stop it!”says Jenny, stepping away from Danny.
离开 其中step 作动词,表示“迈步;行走”的动作,介词from 后通常接名词或代词,表示“离开的对象或起点”
e.g. (1) Can you step away from the computer for a minute
你能离开电脑一会儿吗?
(2) Experts advise teenagers to stay away from electronic products.
专家建议青少年远离电子产品。
辨析:step away from 与stay away from
step away from 瞬间动作(强调“离开”这个动作)
stay away from 持续状态(强调“保持距离”的结果)




6. look away
Jenny shakes her head and looks away, hiding her hair under her hood.
移开视线 通常因尴尬、害羞、不忍或不感兴趣,主动将目光从某人或某物上移开。look away 后可跟介词from
e.g. 1)我移开视线,感到脸发烫。
I looked away, feeling my face turn red.
2)She couldn’t look away from the beautiful sunset.

look at 看,注视 look for 寻找 look after 照顾;照看
look like 看起来像 look forward to 期待,盼望 look up 查阅;向上看
look out 小心,留神 look around 环顾四周;四处看看

Danny, your friend is setting a boundary.
建立边界 指明确划定规则、限制或心理界限,强调“主动建立某种约束”
e.g. We set a boundary that no one uses electronic devices during dinner.
我们规定任何人一起用餐时不得使用电子设备。
