新素材白噪声
Have you ever noticed how, on a rainy night, all other sounds seem to disappear The sound of the rain drowns(盖过) them out. And even though the sound of the rain goes on all night, it doesn't keep you awake. The sound of the rain is a kind of white noise — a steady (稳定的) and unchanging sound.
White noise is made up of sounds from all the frequencies(频率)a human ear can hear. It's called“white” because it is like that of white light, which is a mixture of all the light we can see.
You might think that a mixture of all possible sound frequencies would be terrible, but it's not— quite the opposite. The reason for this is that white noise drowns other sounds. Think of the rain: the sound of one drop falling, like from a feaky(漏水的) tap, would be very different and hateful. Two drops would be the same. You could even tell three drops apart. But if there were 5 or 10 or 1,000, you couldn't pick out each drop. Together they become a kind of quiet sound and probably lead you to sleep.
According to a scientific study, white noise can help solve different problems. It can help worried people sleep and help those who have headaches sleep through their pain. It can be very useful to people with attention problems. White noise can help them pay attention to something. Who would have thought that mixing lots of sounds together would actually help develop peace and quiet

Lu Guowei is shy and has problems speaking comfortably with strangers. “He is 22 years old but probably only has the intelligence(智力) of an 11-year-old child,” said Lu Guoqiang, his elder brother,in 2023.
But this“child” won three medals in running — one gold and two silvers — in the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games, held in Berlin, Germany, from June 17 to 25.
The very next day, when Lu Guowei returned from Germany to his home in Yanshan, a small county in Southwest China's YunnanProvince, he went to Yanshan Special Education School to see his former(以前的) teachers, proudly wearing three of the medals he won at the Special Olympics, even though he had already graduated from the school.

At school, Yang noticed that Lu had excellent physical ability, which then led him to encourage Lu to try running. But what makes it hard is that Lu Guowei has problems understanding even the simplest concepts(概念) and instructions, especially when he was younger. “It was difficult for the concept to get through to him just by explaining it with words, so I would show him by asking him to tag along(跟随) when I was running. But he doesn't mind working hard.He never makes excuses or complains,” said Yang. “No matter how much I ask him to run, he' ll just do it, even when I'm not watching.”

According to recent research in biology, chimpanzees(黑猩猩) in the wild are thought to choose certain plants and use them as medicines when they are not feeling well. After studying how they eat the leaves of certain trees, two scientists, Paul Newton and Toshisuda Nashida, said that there are striking(显著的) similarities between how these animals eat these plants and how humans take their medicines.
Until recently, only humans were believed to be able to make smart decisions when it came to curing illness. But that was before the two scientists carried out their research. They noticed that a chimpanzee they called Hugo was behaving differently from the other animals. He was picking the leaves from a plant that he does not usually eat.
What was surpris ng was the way Hugo ate the leaves. He not only picked them very carefully, but also rubbed (搓) the leaves before he put them in his mouth, and then he kept them in his mouth for a little while before he swallowed (吞下) them. This is exactly how humans take medicine! What was even more surprising for the scientists was that the very same plant that the chimpanzee chose is known to be used by local people as a medicine! Newton and Nashida were also surprised to find that when chimpanzees take this medicine, they only do so in the morning.
The behaviour of these chimpanzees shows that they have developed amazing abilities to care for their own health — without any doctor having told them what medicine to take!
69. What can we learn about Hugo
A. He took medicine in the afternoon.
B. He kept the medicine in his mouth for some time.
C. He chose local people's medicine to treat himself.
D. He specially chose the plants that he usually eats.
70. What does the underlined word“them” in Paragraph 3 refer to
A. Chimpanzees. B. Leaves.
C. Plants. D. Trees.
71. What does the writer want to tell us
A. Animals don't need doctors when they are ill.
B. Only humans are able to make smart decisions.
C. Chimpanzees behave differently from other animals.
D. Animals have abilities to choose medicines to cure themselves.
72. In which part of a magazine can you find the text
A. Culture. B. Geography. C. Nature. D. Health.

My Study Habits
I have some good study habits. They have a positive influence on my study.
First of all, I often try to develop an interest in what I learn. When I learn something I am interested in, my brain is more active and it is also easier for me to focus on it for a long time. For example, I am a music fan, so I often listen to English songs to improve my listening and speaking skills. Second, I often review all the notes I took for each course, which helps me become more organized. Now I have become an active learner.
I will stick to these good study habits, and I believe I can do better in the future.
