Kleber Battaglia, a 45-year-old Italian, has practiced Chinese kung fu for 36 years. Now, he teaches Wing Chun kung fu in Shanghai to young students. Wing Chun is famous for its fast punches（用拳打）and is popular because of Bruce Lee, a famous kung fu master（大师）.

Sometimes, you meet people who seem to have everything. They are calm and happy, and never look away from problems. Psychologists (心理学家) say these people are “self-actualized (自我实现的)”.
Psychologist Abraham Maslow used the word when he described his pyramid (金字塔) of needs in 1943. He said, “What a man can be, he must be. This need we may call self-actualization.” Abraham Maslow believes that human needs are grouped into different levels in a pyramid. Food, water, and air come first, followed by safety, love, and esteem (尊重). Self-actualization is at the top.
Psychologist Carl Rogers agrees with Abraham’s pyramid, saying self-actualization takes place when you act like who you want to be. He thinks “self-actualized” people are open to experiences, trust their own feelings and are always looking for new challenges.
Nearly 60 years later, Phil Olley sees self-actualization as rare yet possible. “Very few people experience self-actualization,” says Phil Olley. “It’s about living a life in your own way. It could be the definition (定义) of success, but of course, that will be different for different people.”

Have you ever wondered why you look like your parents It’s all about traits (特征). Traits are the things that make you special—your eye color, your hair type, and even how tall you are. Last month, I joined the school English speech competition. I practiced hard for weeks, but an accident hit me on stage—I suddenly forgot my lines. I felt so nervous that I just stood there, my hands shaking.
Luckily, my teacher and classmates clapped to encourage me. I took a deep breath to calm down, tried my best to recall the words and finally finished the speech.
This experience made me learn that courage is more important than perfection. Now I’m not afraid of speaking in public anymore. It’s this unexpected thing that helps me grow a lot.
