动词不定式作主语
一、概述
1.动词不定式具有名词的特征,可在句子中充当主语,谓语动
词通常用第三人称单数形式。
To get there by bike will take us half an hour.
骑自行车到那儿将花费我们半个小时。
To make a plan first is a good idea.
先制订计划是个好主意。
两个或两个以上的动词不定式(短语)作主语,若语意(基本)
一致或动词不定式作为一个整体时,谓语动词用单数形式。但
是,两个或两个以上的动词不定式(短语)作主语,若语意不一
致,谓语动词用复数形式。
To love and to be loved is sweet to us.
爱和被爱对我们来说都是甜蜜的。
To improve people’s quality of life and to speed up social
construction are two important tasks.
提高人们的生活质量和加快社会建设是两项重要任务。#1.2.1
2.为了避免头重脚轻,可用it作形式主语,把动词不定式
(真正的主语)放到后面。
It would be a great honour for me to invite you to come
to China.
邀请你来中国对我来说是一件非常荣幸的事。
As we all know,it is good for your health to take exercise.
众所周知,锻炼有益于健康。
3.动词不定式作主语时也可有时态或语态的变化。
To have known you is a privilege.
认识了你真是荣幸。(不定式的完成式)
To be working all day long is a bore.
整天工作使人厌倦。(不定式的进行式)
4.“疑问词+动词不定式”作主语。
动词不定式可与疑问词when、where、how、what、which、
who等连用,构成不定式短语,在句中作主语。
How to get rid of the bad habit is a question worth
thinking about.
如何改掉这个坏习惯是个值得思考的问题。
What to do with this situation reflects one’s ability.
如何应对这种状况反映出一个人的能力。

二、it作形式主语的句型
若动词不定式太长,则往往用it作形式主语,将动词不定
式放到后面,以使句子结构平衡。常见句型有以下4种。
1.It+be+形容词(+for/of sb)+to do sth.
It is difficult for us to finish writing the composition in a
quarter of an hour.
我们难以在15分钟内写完这篇作文。
It is very nice of you to cure my son of his bad habit of
eating junk food.
你人真是太好了,帮我儿子改掉了吃垃圾食品的坏习惯。
该结构中介词for或of的选择取决于其前面作表语的形容词。
for sb结构常用于描述动词不定式的特征,如easy、hard、
difficult、interesting、impossible、necessary等;of sb结构常
用于描述动词不定式的逻辑主语的性质或品质,如good、kind、
nice、clever、foolish、right等。
It’s very easy for him to work out this math problem.
对他来说解出这道数学题很容易。
It’s very nice of you to meet me.

2.It+be+名词短语+to do sth.
常见的名词短语有a pity、a shame、a pleasure、one’s duty、
an honour等。
It’s a great honour to be invited to your birthday party.
很荣幸受邀参加你的生日聚会。
It’s our duty to take good care of the old.
照顾好老人是我们的责任。
3.It takes/took/will take (sb) some time/money to do sth.
It took me two hours to finish the work.
我完成那项工作用了两个小时。
4.It seems/appears+形容词+to do sth.
It seems impossible to kick a bad habit in so short a time.
要在这么短的时间内戒除恶习似乎是不可能的。

三、动词不定式与动词-ing形式作主语的区别
1.动词不定式作主语表示具体动作;而动词-ing形式作主语通常
表示抽象动作。
It is not good for you to stay up late.
熬夜对你身体很不好。(具体)
Smoking is prohibited here.
这里禁止吸烟。(抽象)
2.动词不定式作主语通常用来表示一件未完成的事或未达到的
目的;动词-ing形式作主语时,通常用于表示一件已知的事或
一种经验。
To finish the task will take a long time.
要完成这项任务将要花费很长时间。(未完成)
Climbing mountains is interesting.
爬山很有趣。(经验)
3.在“It+be+no use(good/help/need等)”之后,常用动词-ing形式
作主语,而很少用动词不定式。
It is no good arguing with him. He never listens to others.
和他争论毫无益处,他从不听别人的意见。
It is no use crying over the spilt milk.
覆水难收。
如果该句型中用了for引出不定式的逻辑主语,就只能用不
定式。
It is no good for us to do that exercise.
