Tina Farr visits the year 2 classroom at her Oxford primary school, she can feel the changed atmosphere since play was put firmly back on the curriculum (课程). “The children come running up with things they have made. There is always a shop on the go so they will be pricing up something or finding change.” the headteacher says.
Play-based learning — letting children move around, make up games and explore within loosely guided activities — usually stops when they attend primary school. Lessons then become desk-based, focused on reading and writing.
Farr had long championed the value of play, working hard to bring it into breaktimes. “Teachers would recognise what we do and it doesn’t take any more planning than the standard approach.” With play-based learning in place for her year 1 and 2 children, Farr then looked at where else she could change any practices that weren’t working. “If a practice isn’t in line with healthy child development, why are we doing it ”
The school’s year 5 children — aged nine and 10 — were struggling to sit still in a tight space so she removed all the furniture. “The impact was immediate and impressive. Children now choose where and how to learn. A class once struggling with attention is now calm and engaged.” A teacher note: “Their self-regulation has improved greatly. They settle down to work much more readily.”
Farr believes the outdated system needs urgent change. “We have neuroscience (神经科学) to know children learn through play.” In June the school sailed through its Ofsted inspection. “The inspector really understood our play-based learning.” Farr’s message is that her approach can be rolled out. “It’s blown my mind how engaged the children are. It’s phenomenal,” she says.
24.What change does Farr bring to her school
A.Additional income. B.Flexible environments.
C.Upgraded equipment D.Diverse outdoor games.
25.What is the main reason for Farr to introduce play-based learning
A.To reduce teacher’ workload.
B.To enhance the school’s reputation.
C.To improve students’ academic results.
D.To promote kids’ well-being and growth.
26.Which best describes the students with the new seating arrangement
A.More focused. B.More energetic.
C.More self-centred. D.More courageous.
27.What is the last paragraph mainly about concerning Farr’s approach
A.Its theory. B.Its challenge.
C.Its purpose. D.Its effectiveness.

If you want to look your best in the morning, it may be worth swapping the ultra-processed pastries and fruit juice for wholemeal toast and tea without sugar.
Researchers in France found that people who ate a breakfast rich in refined carbohydrates were rated less attractive than those who started the day with healthier unrefined carbs. “It’s surprising to consider but our dietary options do have rapid effects on our appearance,” said Dr Claire Berticat, a leading expert of the research.
The researchers recruited 52 men and 52 women aged 20 to 30 and randomly assigned them to have a 500-calorie breakfast rich in either refined or unrefined carbohydrates. The refined carbs breakfast included a French baguette made from industrially milled flour, jam, apple or orange juice, and tea or coffee with sugar available while the unrefined carbs meal was stoneground wholemeal bread with butter and cheese, an orange or apple, and tea or coffee without sugar. The scientists measured blood sugar levels of volunteers before and after they ate and then took headshots of the participants, followed by raters estimating how attractive the individuals looked.
Refined carbohydrates can produce spikes in blood sugar, which the body counters by releasing insulin. The response can drive sugar levels too low, a condition called hypoglycemia and affect blood flow and skin appearance. In the study, only the refined carbs breakfast produced hypoglycemia.
David Perrett, a professor who has studied facial cues for health, said there should be no surprise that diet affects attractiveness. Fruit and vegetables improved attractiveness by increasing carotenoids in the skin, he said, while high-sugar diets did the opposite.
“The authors suggest that the refined carbohydrate could be affecting peripheral blood flow,” Perrett said. “Blood flow can change skin appearance rapidly. One can see the impact within seconds in the case of feeling sick when the blood drains from the skin. We found that most people look healthier, and more attractive, when their skin color reflects a slight, rise in oxygenated blood.”
Asked what advice she would give to beauty seeker, Berticat said: “Refined carbohydrates have a negative impact on health and that’s reason enough to limit their consumption.”
28.What does the underlined word “swapping” in Paragraph 1 mean
A.Displacing. B.Substituting. C.Opting. D.Removing.
29.How was the study carried out
A.By stating the facts. B.By comparing the results.

30.Why was the case of feeling sick mentioned in Paragraph 6
A.To help illustrate the point. B.To help introduce the argument.
C.To help explain the process. D.To help draw the conclusion.
31.What can we learn from the text
A.Male and female subjects were chosen randomly without age limit.
B.Tea and coffee are damaging to people’s attractiveness.
C.It is the unrefined carbs breakfast that produced hypoglycemia.
D.David Perrett found the experiment result anything but surprising.

As an Olympic fan from a very young age,I have already got over my crush over any sporting "hero".In my point of view,a "hero" may be unstable and forgotten as time passes by.But this time in Paris I think I have come across one.
At the age of 61,Ni Xialian, the oldest table tennis player, never felt out of place in Paris. She had neat movements when taking advantage, and flexible leaps to relieve her emotions when losing a point. The former Chinese world champion paddler, now representing Luxembourg, gave out her full strength against her much younger opponent from her home country﹣23﹣year﹣old Sun Yingsha.
Ni wrapped up her sixth Olympic appearance with a defeat of 0﹣4 to the current world No.1.She emotionally acknowledged to the respectful crowd. She said at the after﹣match interview that her dream had come true to play again at the Olympics and compete with the world's top player.
Before facing Sun at the opposite side of the table,"Aunt Ni" gave no destination when she was invited to serve as a training partner to China's eventual mixed doubles champions Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin. It's right before their face﹣off with a DPRK pair in the final game.Ni's technique is similar to that of the DPRK's female player.
Throughout Sun and Ni's match, the CCTV commentators(评论员)kept referring to Ni as "Master Ni" instead of using her full name.By doing this, they showed respect for her contribution to China's table tennis at her career peak and also for her enduring efforts in promoting the sport in Europe and around the world.
Not representing China though,Ni is still winning her home country's hearts.I believe she will always be cherished by China and the sport because the Olympics and its fans are increasingly inclusive.
32.What mainly made Ni Xialian highlight in Paris?
A.Her young opponent.
B.Her advanced age.
C.Her professional performance.
D.Her after﹣match interview.
33.Which word can best replace the underlined word "destination" in Paragraph 4?
A.Refusal.
B.Disbelief.
C.Response.
D.Proposal.
34.Why was Ni Xialian called "Master Ni"?
A.To meet fans' expectations.
B.To express admiration for her.
C.To identify her from other athletes.
D.To stress her advantage in the game.
35.What can we learn from the passage?
A.The author hoped Ni still represented China.
B.Ni Xialian has attended six Olympic games.
C.The author came to Paris to meet a hero.
D.Ni Xialian defeated a DPRK player.

As English learners you may constantly find that your speech might be slower than you would like. 36 The good news is that thinking in English can bring you a huge step closer to fluency! It’s not very difficult, but it does take conscious effort and practice. Below are some mental exercises that can help.
Think in individual words
Wherever you are, name the things that you see in your head. As you continue with this, it will become a habit, so things are going to pop up into your head — computer, telephone, chair, and desk… 37
38 For example, if you fail to think of the word “garage”, you can say, “The place inside where I put my car” or you can say, “It’s next to my house. I keep things there.” Shorter phrases, such as “It’s similar to…” or “It’s the opposite of…” can also be tried. It has even been proved that this can be applied to any language learning.
Make sentences in your brain
Start from the simplest, such as “It’s such a beautiful day” or “Look! People are playing sports with their friends.” Once this becomes easy, you can move on to more difficult sentences with different verb tenses. When practicing this, don’t think too much about whether your sentences are absolutely correct in grammar. 39
Think in conversation
When you do this, you are imagining yourself speaking to someone else. 40 For example, let’s say the imaginary person asks you a question like, “What do you think of the award show last night ” How would you answer Imagine the conversation and practice it in your head. You can do this out loud or in silence.
A.Describe things in complete sentences.
B.Describe objects you don’t know the words for.
C.You are asking the questions and thinking of replies.
D.Instead, focus on what you want to express and say it out.
E.The person you are speaking to should be knowledgeable and considerate.
F.This is because your mind is still translating from your mother tongue into English.
G.If you want the words to stick in your head, try labeling everything in your apartment.

Through the window, Anqi watched her classmates running and laughing across the playground. They were folding and flying paper planes. Actually, they were training for Paper Airplane Competition — one of the student activities in this term. Anqi wanted to join them but she was afraid of being laughed at, because she couldn’t even make a plane.
Two weeks had passed since Anqi joined this class, but she still felt like an outsider. Though Chinese by birth, she spent her first twelve years in Chicago, because her father was at the University of Chicago to obtain the doctoral and postdoctoral degrees for eight years and stayed in Chicago for another four years due to coronavirus pandemic. So when she returned to China with parents, she had to adapt to the new environment, but obviously she didn’t fit in well.
Anqi had almost no friends but a girl named Xiao Yan quietly paid attention to her. Xiao Yan was the “Plane Princess” of the class for her magic fingers could transform any plain paper into wonderful planes. She saw Anqi’s struggle and wanted to offer a hand but she was a little shy herself. Besides, XiaoYan was unconfident for her poor English especially when she witnessed how good Anqi’s English was. She hoped her English was as good as Anqi’s so that she could take part in the contest — Tell Chinese Stories in English.
Another day, as classmates raced to fly the planes, Anqi was folding a paper, nervously copying what she had seen. Finally, she made something like a plane. She ran outside to fly it, hoping it would glide (滑行) for a distance. Sadly, the “plane” dropped quickly, which happened to be seen by some classmates. Extremely embarrassed, Anqi ran away and cried, “Why can’t I even fold a paper airplane properly ”
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Just then, Xiao Yan cautiously went up to Anqi and comforted softly, “Hey, don’t cry.”

Text 10
W:Good afternoon. I'm Ella. My blog is about clothes for students. I didn't get many hits at first,
but one newspaper wrote something about me, and more people started to look at the blog. Then, a local TV channel interviewed me for a program.Since then, the blog has developed even faster, so I'm no longer working alone. A photographer agreed to take some shots for the site. To better show the clothes, rny brother Eden offered to be my model. I also considered hiring a make-up artist.Luckily,Bonnie,my talented friend, helped me.
I make sure I include all kinds of clothes to:suit a range of tastes for my readers. I try to think about their budgets, too. Most of the clothes I talk about are readily available. As well as showing the latest styles, I also feature classic clothes I've found in second-hand shops. Believe it or not, those from the 1920s are the richest sources of ideas for my recent blog posts, although people enjoyed the clothes from the 19970s most. I also got positive comments about stuff from the 1980s.

66.【答案】My Shining Points
Everyone has their own shining points. It is important to find them out. As for me, I have gradually realized my own strengths. First, I possess a strong sense of responsibility. Whether it’s a class duty or a group project, I always complete my tasks carefully. Second, I am a patient listener. Friends often turn to me when they need someone to talk to.
Recognizing these shining points has brought positive changes to my life. I feel more confident. My sense of responsibility helps me build trust, while being a good listener strengthens my friendships. Now, I understand that appreciating our own strengths is the first step toward growth and happiness.

67.【答案】例文
Just then, Xiao Yan cautiously went up to Anqi and comforted softly, “Hey, don’t cry.” Anqi wiped her tears, embarrassed. Xiao Yan sat down, took out a paper, and said gently, “Maybe I can teach you.” She explained and demonstrated each step slowly. Anqi followed carefully, and her second plane glided a farther distance — she smiled through tears. Knowing Xiao Yan wanted to take part in the English story-telling contest, Anqi also offered to help Xiao Yan with her English. Xiao Yan’s eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly, “We can practice together after class!” From then on, they were inseparable, teaching each other.
The two activities, Paper Airplane Competition and Tell Chinese Stories in English, finally came as scheduled. On the playground, Anqi’s plane glided far with Xiao Yan’s guidance, drawing cheers. Though no first prize, she felt proud. Meanwhile, Xiao Yan stepped onto the stage. With Anqi’s help, she told a touching Chinese friendship story fluently. The audience burst into applause. Afterward, classmates praised them warmly. Anqi no longer felt like an outsider — she had more friends like Xiao Yan and fit in; Xiao Yan was also less shy and more confident. Just like the plane flying in the sky, the two knew that their friendship had taken flight too.
