A wild dog with a reddish-brown (红褐色) coat is making a sound to tell others, “Look! Our meal is coming to us.” After hearing the sound, a deer starts to run — but the dogs are too fast.
Having “talks” is very important for these animals. People call these animals dholes (豺). Dholes are a kind of wild dog. They mainly live in Asia. They stand out in the dog family because they like to “talk” very much. Dholes are among the chattiest (最健谈的) of the 35 kinds of wild dogs and they make at least 11 different calls to “talk” with each other. Those calls mean different things. For example, if a dhole makes a call that sounds like “whoo-tee, whoop”, it says to its members, “Where are you I can’t find you!” When it makes a noise like “grr”, it wants to tell others, “Back off. It’s my turn to eat.” If it barks “woof, woof”, it wants to say, “It’s getting dark. Time to go back.”
Experts (专家) say such talks not only help dholes to know each other well but also make each one in the group understand its role (角色). Dholes live in a group. Each group usually has 5 to 12 dholes, with one dhole as a leader (领导). The leader can let other dholes know “I’m the boss”with the talking. How interesting!

Sorry, No Backpacks Allowed.
Do you think backpacks are important for students You may say yes. With backpacks, we carry books, water bottles, pencil boxes and other school things. But a growing number of schools in America are banning (禁止) backpacks in class now. Here are some reasons.
Students may bring something unnecessary (不必要的) or dangerous to school. They may put phones into their backpacks. They may carry snacks. And some of them may bring something dangerous like knives. To solve these problems, some schools make a rule—No backpacks in classrooms.
Students’ backpacks take up much space in the classroom. Because of them, the hallways are always crowded (拥挤的). A student with a backpack doubles the space he takes. Without backpacks, the classroom will be less crowded and much tidier.
Heavy backpacks are not good for students. Backpacks= Bad Backs! Some backpacks are big and huge. If a student carries a heavy backpack, he or she may have problems in the neck, back and shoulders (肩膀). A large number of schools ban the use of backpacks to help students keep healthy.
With the rule, students don’t need to carry backpacks on weekdays. They need to keep them in lockers. Do students like such a rule
Some of them think the rule is good. They are glad to put their backpacks into the lockers before walking into the classroom. But some of them don’t like it. “Without a backpack, it’s hard for me to take so many things with my hands, including textbooks, a water bottle, a pencil bag, and more,” Amelia said. “I keep losing things, like my cards,” 7th grader Tom said. “I’d like to keep my backpack because my locker isn’t close to my classrooms,” said Alice.
