As the saying goes, “If you can’t be a forest, you can be a tree. If you can’t be the sun, try to learn to be a star.” Most of the time, it is not the size that determines (决定) success or failure, but the fact that we should be the best ourselves.
Maybe you’re not the one who gets the highest score in a test in your class. Maybe you’re not the kid your parents are so proud of. In fact, there are many dreams that we cannot realize because we need to improve our abilities and skills. It could also be that many dreams themselves take a lot of time. We need to be patient. After we fail many times, we will get a lot of experience and wisdom. We will be stronger and more hopeful after this. In this process, we change our hearts and feelings and try our best. It’s called being the best ourselves.
The forest is home to many animals. It provides food and safety for them, but a small tree can also be a place of unwind for the birds. The sun makes people warm and it can provide all the energy needed for life on the earth, but stars can also light the way for those who walk at night, and give hope and direction to those in trouble. Everyone can be helpful to others and society as long as we make efforts to do our best.
Everyone has their own talents and abilities. There’s a proper place for everyone. We don’t need to make those dreams far away from us come true. Until then, choose to be true and be best self, you will make a difference in the world.
48.Why might some dreams take a long time to achieve
A. Because people are usually not patient.
B. Because all dreams are difficult to realize.
C. Because we don’t have enough abilities and skills.
49.According to the passage, how can we be the best ourselves
A. By getting the highest score.
B. By learning from the failure.
C. By being the pride of our parents.
50.What does the underlined phrase “a place of unwind” probably mean
A. A resting place. B. A boring place.
C. An exciting place.
51.Why does the writer talk about the forest, the tree, the sun and the stars in Paragraph 3
A. To show we can make our dreams come true.
B. To show the size determines success or failure.
C. To show we can make ourselves helpful if we try our best.
52.What’s the best title of this passage
A. Practice Hard for Success
B. Never Give up Your Dreams
C. Improve Yourself to Be the Best

The Qinghai-Xizang Railway is one of the world’s most wonderful transportation projects. Work began in 1958, but the railway was not completed until 2006. This railway connects China’s central areas with Xizang, crossing some of the most difficult land on Earth. Chinese engineers faced very big challenges but solved them through creative ways and hard work.
The biggest challenge was building on permafrost, a type of ground that stays frozen below 0°C for at least two years. About 550 kilometers of the railway runs across this kind of land. The problem is that if permafrost warms up even a little, it becomes unstable (不稳定) and can harm the railway tracks. Since Chinese engineers had little experience with this matter, they had to create new methods. They designed special cooling systems to keep the ground frozen. In some places, they built tall bridges to raise the railway above the ground so the heat from trains would not warm the permafrost. They also built walls alongside the tracks to block sunlight from heating the ground.
Another big challenge was protecting the environment and wildlife. The railway passes through places like Kekexili and Qiangtang, which are home to many rare animals, including Tibetan antelopes and wild yaks. To allow animals to move freely across their natural homes, engineers built 25 special passages under the railway. These wildlife crossings make sure that animals can travel safely without danger of being hit by trains. Engineers also carefully designed the railway to keep damage (破坏) to plants and rivers in these important ecosystems as small as possible.
The high height presented more problems. Much of the railway runs at heights above 4,000 meters, where oxygen levels are low. To help passengers avoid feeling sick, engineers created special trains with oxygen supply systems. These trains are sealed like lanes and add extra oxygen into carriages to keep passengers comfortable.
Today, the 1,956-kilometer Qinghai-Xizang Railway stands as a great achievement. It travels across green valleys, along snowy mountains, beside blue lakes, and through vast deserts, connecting people while respecting nature. It truly deserves its nickname “the sky road”.

The days passed and the river went down.
"I think I'll go to the town and get some news." I told Jim one morning.
"Be careful, Huck." Jim said, "The people in St. Petersburg know you and they think that you're dead. Why don't you put on the dress and pretend(假装) to be a girl "
So I did as Jim said.
I took the canoe to the town. Very soon, I met a woman and she told me that someone would catch a runaway.
This wasn't good news for Jim. I hurried back to the cave to tell him.
We set off down the river for the town of Cairo. In order to protect Jim, we preferred to travel at night rather than travel in the day. What's more, we covered the raft with leaves and branches during the day.
We never got to Cairo. So we continued drifting down the river because the raft couldn't sail back up the river against the current. We had a few adventures on the way, but nobody caught us. Our life on the raft was very pleasant and I was enjoying myself. During the day we made a camp under the trees and slept. As soon as it got dark, we set off again. After dinner, we swam in the moonlight or lay on our backs, looking at the stars.
Then one morning something happened and our lives changed.
I was paddling up a side river to look for berries for breakfast when two men suddenly ran out of the woods.
"Help! Some men want to kill us!" they shouted.
I felt sorry for them. I told them to get onto the raft and we paddled back to the camp. They were both wearing dirty old clothes, but they called themselves a Duke and the King. I didn't believe them. I knew immediately that they were frauds(骗子), but I didn't say anything.
