C. He dislikes the way they are presented.
【答案】10. B 11. B 12. C
【原文】
W: So Richard, tell us about what got you started as an independent film maker.
M: From an early age, I enjoyed watching films and was fascinated by directing and photography, but it never occurred to me that I could do it myself until one day I picked up my father’s camera and started recording what was happening around me every day. I then worked at a local video shop that had a section of unclassifiable films. These films made up their own rules and always left me feeling as if something inside me had changed. They also proved that the medium of film could change someone’s views of the world, and that made me more determined to pursue film making.
W: And yet you claim that you don’t make art films.
M: Even though I want to make this type of film, it is easy to produce a bad one. More importantly, I just want to express my message through understandable films, using pictures and music, but not some abstract art concepts. By the way, I am not interested in art films that follow a predictable pattern.

M: Really
W: Yeah. In fact, I thought about volunteering before, but it wasn’t easy to fit it in around school time and my weekend job. Now I get to leave school early every Thursday to go to the animal shelter.

W: No, we all do different things. Sarah volunteers at a retirement home. Dan works with disabled kids and Mike works a shift at a food bank every Friday morning.

【原文】
When I was 10, I was hospitalized at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri for illness. They were testing me for a reason and the condition. I had to stay a couple of days and that involved getting shots and extensive tests. I was scared when my parents left, because I believed they would give me shots while they were gone and not listen to me. I knew that as a young person my opinion and fear meant nothing. The first night I went to bed and worried and cried the whole time. A nurse came in my room, sat down and read a book. I don’t remember her name and never met her. Every time I woke up and saw she was still sitting there. She will never know how much that mattered and it has been 25 years later now. Just her caring about my feelings and making me feel safe made a difference.

Dr. Punam Krishan is a general practitioner — a GP — one of the doctors who stand on the front line of medicine. GPs treat everyday illnesses, listen carefully to patients’ concerns, and decide when special medical care is needed. Beyond her work in clinics, Dr. Krishan is also a familiar face on television and the author of several books, including How to Be a Doctor and Other Life-Saving Jobs, You and Your Body, and her latest release, The Superhero’s First Aid Manual.
Her journey into medicine began with caring for others. “It started off with me wanting to help people understand themselves better,” she once explained. She often noticed when someone looked unwell and felt driven to ask why. That quiet curiosity led her deeper into science, even when it was challenging, and eventually toward a life dedicated to healing others.
To Dr. Krishan, being a GP is “one of the most incredible jobs in the world”. Every day, she meets people from different backgrounds and at different stages of life. With only ten minutes per patient, she must listen closely, read between the lines, and uncover the truth behind their symptoms, “It makes me feel a bit like a detective,” she said. Patients may arrive with one problem or many, and finding the right answer brings a sense of excitement that never fades. She describes her role as being “a bit of a best friend to people”.
Her newest book was shaped by a deeply personal loss. When she was a child, her grandfather died, and for years she worried she had missed signs that he was unwell. That experience stayed with her and formed a powerful belief: recognizing illness can be a life-saving skill, even for children. Through her book, she teaches young readers to recognize emergencies such as allergic reactions or heart attacks, and to take simple but vital steps — staying calm, calling 999, or placing someone in the recovery position. For Dr. Krishan, heroism begins with care, courage, and knowledge. “Children should know the basics of how to be a superhero in that moment,” she added.
24. What can we learn about Dr. Krishan from the first paragraph
A. She takes on multiple roles. B. She excels in detailed work.
C. She takes pleasure in reading. D. She aims for public recognition.
25. Why did Dr. Krishan dive into science
A. To tackle the scientific challenges. B. To make up for her childhood regret.
C. To observe the lives of patients better. D. To find explanations for what she observed.
26. How does Dr. Krishan find her work as a GP
A. Fast-paced but fulfilling. B. Stressful but stable.
C. Challenging but well-paid. D. Exhausting but promising.
27. What does Dr. Krishan’s experience indicate according to the last paragraph
A. Better late than never. B. Fix the roof before it rains.
C. Time and tide wait for no man. D. Opportunity favors the prepared mind.

The announcement that China’s railway network will significantly expand its “quiet carriage” service beginning February 1 is a modest reform with huge significance. By extending this option to nearly all “D” and “G” series high-speed trains, China State Railway Group is acknowledging a shift in public expectations: that modern travel should not only be fast, but also kind and respectful of personal space.
In an era when speed is often taken for granted, comfort is increasingly defined by atmosphere. Noise — constant phone calls, deafening videos, loud conversations — has become a common source of friction in public transport. The quiet carriage is a direct response, recognizing that silence itself can be a valuable public good.
Since its pilot launch in late 2020, the quiet carriage has built a loyal following. Its popularity sends a clear message: there is real demand for different services that respect varying travel needs. A mature public transport system should accommodate both lively conversation and calm. This expansion also signals confidence in social self-regulation. Passengers must agree to a “quiet agreement, ” promising to keep noise to a minimum. This is not merely procedural but an experiment in trust — an assumption that citizens, when clearly informed, are capable of regulating their own conduct.
Whether this succeeds depends on everyday behavior. The quiet carriage works only if passengers internalize its spirit. Silence is sustained by mutual awareness and self- control. In this sense, each train becomes a small, moving society.
Critics may argue enforcement is difficult, but this misses the point. The purpose is not about keeping people apart, but about allowing them to choose. Those preferring a relaxed environment have alternatives. What matters is that those who choose silence can expect it to be honored.
Ultimately, this expansion is about trust — between institutions and citizens, and among passengers themselves. If embraced sincerely, the quiet carriage can symbolize a society learning to respect the invisible boundaries that make collective life possible. Sometimes, progress sounds like silence.
28. What can we infer from “quiet carriage”
A. It will be expanded to more trains. B. Trains will all be equipped soon.
C. Public cares more about personal space. D. It aims to replace ordinary carriages.
29. Why was the quiet carriage created
A. To meet speed demands. B. To solve transport noise.
C. To create total silence. D. To redefine travel comfort.
30. What’s the benefit of introducing quiet carriage
A. It reveals demand for better service. B. It helps create a zero-noise atmosphere.
C. It requires people to internalize its spirit. D. It encourages passengers’ self-regulation.
31. What can we learn from the last two paragraphs
A. It is hard but important to carry out. B. It provides an alternative for people.
C. It is ultimately about building trust. D. It respects invisible social boundaries.
【答案】28. A 29. B 30. D 31. C
根据第一段“The announcement that China’s railway network will significantly expand its “quiet carriage” service beginning February 1 is a modest reform with huge significance.(中国铁路网将从2月1日起大幅扩展‘静音车厢’服务的公告,是一项意义重大的温和改革。)”可知,静音车厢将会被推广到更多列车。故选A。
29. 细节理解题。根据第二段“Noise — constant phone calls, deafening videos, loud conversations — has become a common source of friction in public transport. The quiet carriage is a direct response, recognizing that silence itself can be a valuable public good.(噪音——持续的电话、震耳欲聋的视频、大声的交谈——已成为公共交通中常见的摩擦来源。静音车厢是直接的回应,它认识到沉默本身可以是一种宝贵的公共产品。)”可知,设立静音车厢是为了解决交通噪音问题。故选B。
30. 细节理解题。根据第三段“This expansion also signals confidence in social self-regulation. Passengers must agree to a “quiet agreement,” promising to keep noise to a minimum. This is not merely procedural but an experiment in trust — an assumption that citizens, when clearly informed, are capable of regulating their own conduct.(这一扩展也标志着对社会自我调节的信心。乘客必须同意“静音协议”,承诺将噪音降到最低。这不仅仅是程序上的,更是一次信任实验——假设公民在得到明确告知后,能够规范自己的行为。)”可知,引入静音车厢的好处是鼓励乘客自我调节。故选D。
31. 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Ultimately, this expansion is about trust — between institutions and citizens, and among passengers themselves.(归根结底,这种扩展是关于信任——机构与公民之间,以及乘客之间的信任。)”可知,这项举措最终是为了建立信任。故选C。
D
Being an information technology, or IT, worker is not a job I envy. They are the ones expected to instantly fix a projector that stops working, even right in the middle of a critical meeting. They have to tolerate the bad mood of colleagues who are upset after calling the help desk repeatedly for the same issue. They also know there are better, more reliable and faster systems available, but their employer simply will not provide the funds to buy them.
According to a recent survey, employees reliant on IT support often consider it a major source of job dissatisfaction. Through no fault of their own, they can suddenly find their productivity deteriorating(下降) or quality control non-existent. And there’s little they can do about it.
The experience of using IT affects almost every aspect of the workplace. It has become a crucial part of employees’ overall work experience. When IT is operating as it should, employee self-confidence increases.
Their job satisfaction, too, can surge when well-functioning machines relieve them of dull tasks or repetitive processes. But if there’s one thing that triggers widespread frustration(沮丧), it’s a failed IT transformation project. In such cases, high expectations are dashed, and a long list of promised efficiencies fails to materialize. This occurs when business leaders implement IT initiatives with little consideration of how those changes will impact the end user.
This is why managers should appreciate how influential the IT user experience is, and make a substantial effort to ensure their IT team fixes programming errors and application crashes. Adequate and timely IT support should also be available to help users resolve technological issues at work. More importantly, IT practitioners need to understand how employees feel when they use IT.
Therefore, businesses need to design their IT infrastructure to fit their employees’ work, rather than force employees to work around the company’s IT limitations.
32. Why does the author say IT work is not a job he admires
A. Fixing equipment urgently during meetings.
B. Knowing better systems are not funded.
C. Dealing with unhappy colleagues repeatedly.
D. Handling high-pressure tasks with poor support.
33. What is said about Information Technology’s influence on employees
A. It mainly helps the tech-skilled. B. Its negatives may outweigh positives.
C. It can hurt or help work and well-being. D. It often lowers productivity and satisfaction.
34. What should managers and businesses do to improve the IT experience
A. Make IT training available to staff.
B. Tailor technology to fit human work patterns.
C. Upgrade systems regardless of cost for efficiency.
D. Focus first on solving urgent technical breakdowns.
35. Which would be the best title for the text
A. Employee Training in the Digital Age B. The Rising Cost of Business Technology
C. Why IT Departments Need More Funding D. Human-Centered IT: A Key to Productivity
【答案】32. D 33. C 34. B 35. D
【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章通过分析IT工作者面临的困境、IT系统对普通员工工作效率与满意度的双重影响,最终论证了企业管理中应以员工体验为中心设计技术方案的必要性。
32. 细节理解题。根据第一段中“They are the ones expected to instantly fix a projector that stops working, even right in the middle of a critical meeting. They have to tolerate the bad mood of colleagues who are upset after calling the help desk repeatedly for the same issue. They also know there are better, more reliable and faster systems available, but their employer simply will not provide the funds to buy them.(他们需要在关键时刻迅速修复出现故障的投影仪,哪怕是在一场重要的会议进行到一半的时候。
根据第三段中“The experience of using IT affects almost every aspect of the workplace. It has become a crucial part of employees’ overall work experience. When IT is operating as it should, employee self-confidence increases.(使用信息技术的经历几乎影响了工作场所的方方面面。它已成为员工整体工作体验中至关重要的一部分。当信息技术正常运行时,员工的自信心会增强)”及第四段中“Their job satisfaction, too, can surge when well-functioning machines relieve them of dull tasks or repetitive processes. But if there’s one thing that triggers widespread frustration (沮丧), it’s a failed IT transformation project.(当运行良好的设备减轻了他们单调的任务或重复性的流程时,他们的工作满意度也会大幅提升。但有一件事会引发广泛的沮丧情绪,那就是信息技术转型项目的失败)”可知,信息技术对员工的影响既有积极的一面,也有消极的一面,即它可以影响工作和生活的好坏,C项It can hurt or help work and well-being.(它可能会对工作和幸福感产生不利影响,也可能带来积极的作用)与文章内容相符。故选C项。
34. 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Therefore, businesses need to design their IT infrastructure to fit their employees’ work, rather than force employees to work around the company’s IT limitations.(因此,企业需要设计其信息技术基础设施以适应员工的工作需求,而不是迫使员工绕过公司的信息技术限制)”可知,企业需要设计适合员工工作的IT基础设施,要根据人类的工作模式定制技术。故选B项。
35. 主旨大意题。纵观全文,尤其根据最后一段“Therefore, businesses need to design their IT infrastructure to fit their employees’ work, rather than force employees to work around the company’s IT limitations.(因此,企业需要设计其信息技术基础设施以适应员工的工作需求,而不是迫使员工绕过公司的信息技术限制)”可知,本文先揭示IT工作者及普通员工因技术问题面临的困境(引出现象), 进而分析IT对员工效率与心理的双重影响(剖析问题),最后提出根本出路在于以员工为中心设计IT系统(提出解决方案)。D项“Human-Centered IT: A Key to Productivity (以人为本的信息技术:提高生产力的关键因素)”概括了文章主题,适合作为最佳标题。故选D项。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分, 满分12.5分)

Phones hold so much of our digital lives. If your phones get stolen or lost, you can face major problems. 36
It’s vital to set passwords to your phones. There should be passwords for all your important apps, including your emails, social media accounts, bank accounts, and photos. 37 Some police forces and phone companies advise turning off message previews. This prevents thieves trying to break into your accounts when the phone is locked.
If you are unlucky enough to have your phone stolen, report it to the police. Call your insurance company if you have a policy that covers the device. 38 In this case they can freeze your number and issue a replacement SIM card. Inform your bank so they can watch out for unusual financial activity.
39 This service will show your phone’s current or last known location on a map. The service is also handy if you cannot find your phone somewhere in the house. You can get the phone to play a sound, even if it is on silent. If the device shows up in an unfamiliar location on the map, and you suspect it has been stolen, it’s better to contact the police.
If you cannot find your phone, there’re some final steps to take. Withdraw from all your accounts that are accessible on the phone and try to disable them. 40 Finally, you can erase the phone remotely so that there is no chance of any data falling into the wrong hands.
A. Inform your phone service providers.
B. Turn on newer features like the remote control.
C. Try to find your phone with the find-my-device service.
D. Then remove your phone from your list of trusted devices.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It all began at my local Portland airport as I was checking in for my flight for Salt Lake City. Panic hit: my suitcase was still at home. It held everything for a week-long conference in Utah: my tailored suit, a folder of printed presentations, even the novel I planned to finally read on the flight. With no time to turn back, I called my wife, who promised to send it on the next flight. An agent reassured me that it would reach my hotel by evening. Armed with that promise, I boarded, unaware of the incredible journey that awaited my suitcase.
That night at my hotel, no suitcase arrived. I called Delta Airlines and Peter, a baggage service agent, informed me that the connecting flight had been canceled. “Don’t worry. It’ll be on the first flight tomorrow and delivered to your hotel by 9 a.m.” he promised.
The next morning at 9 a.m., nothing. I called Delta again, my voice shaking over the phone. “Where’s my bag ” Peter responded calmly, “Can you make it through today ” “But I need the staff in my bag!” Peter explained that without a baggage ticket number, tracking was difficult, but he would keep trying. Frustrated, I washed my only shirt in the washbowl, hung it near the heater, and hoped it would dry up for the conference in the afternoon.
By noon, Peter called. His voice apologetic and sympathetic, he told me that there had been a mistake and now my suitcase was traveling to New York’s LaGuardia Airport. “All you can do is focus on today”, he advised, trying to ease my anger and anxiety, “Just take it as a light travel”. Just then, a well-dressed stranger approached me. To my astonishment, he reached into his own carry-on and pulled out a neatly folded new shirt and a pair of socks. “Traveling Light ” he smiled, his eyes twinkling with understanding. As he offered them to me, I mumbled thanks, overwhelmed with a blend of embarrassment and gratitude.
注意:1、续写词数应为150左右;
2、请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1:
Peter’s advice, paired with the stranger’s kindness, kept me going through that week.

Paragraph 2:
A week later, at Salt Lake Airport in Utah, I spotted my dusty bag on the conveyor belt (传送带).
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Paragraph 1
Peter’s advice, paired with the stranger’s kindness, kept me going through that week. I attended the conference in the shirt from the kind stranger, introducing myself not with my title, but with my story of the lost suitcase. To my surprise, the shared laughter over my predicament broke the ice faster than any business card. Without my prepared notes, I listened more intently; without the tailored suit, I spoke more freely. The “essentials” I had packed now seemed like layers of armor I no longer needed. Peter’s words had evolved from a mere consolation into a philosophy: by letting go of what was missing, I had unexpectedly made room for genuine connection in the present. (102)
Paragraph 2
A week later, at Salt Lake City Airport, I spotted my dusty bag on the conveyor belt. After countless phone calls with Peter to check on it, I finally watched it go around, like a long lost friend. As I hugged it, I realized that the true journey wasn’t the bag’s detour to New York, but my own path to realizing that everything I truly needed—resilience, adaptability, and the kindness of strangers—had never been packed in it at all. “Could I call you again ” I asked Peter. “As long as you fly Delta,” he laughed happily, “if you travel light.” Back home, I unpacked. Everything was there, even the novel I’d anyway failed to finish. But the next trip, I chose to pack less—just one shirt and socks. Freedom, I learned, is about letting go. (118)

注意:1、续写词数应为150左右;
2、请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1:
Peter’s advice, paired with the stranger’s kindness, kept me going through that week.
