①As the clock struck midnight on the 2026 Chinese New Year’s Eve, millions of viewers around the world were amazed by a special performance on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala. The show, called “Wu Bot”, featured a group of humanoid robots developed by Unitree Robotics. The robots, standing 1.8 meters tall, moved together perfectly as they performed martial arts (武术) moves. They punched (出拳), kicked, and even turned in the air—moves that would be difficult even for human martial artists. It was a wonderful mix of ancient tradition and modern technology.
②To make this possible, engineers spent years studying how humans move. They looked at how muscles work, how people keep balance, and how joints (关节) bend. Then they turned these ideas into computer programs that control the robots’ 40 joints. Unlike factory robots that just repeat the same action, these robots “learn” by practicing millions of times in computer simulations (模拟). This helps them move more and more like real people.
③The name “Wu Bot” has a special meaning. “Wu” stands for martial arts, an important part of Chinese culture. “Bot” is short for robot. The dance moves were created together with martial arts masters from the Shaolin Temple. They made sure that every move—from the fast punches to the slow, beautiful postures of Taiji—followed traditional styles. But the robots could also do things humans cannot: all of them moved at exactly the same time, turned at very high speeds, and switched (转换) between different styles without stopping.
④Of course, the show was not just for fun. It also showed China’s progress in robotics. Unitree, a company started in 2016, has become one of the world’s leaders in making robots that walk and run. Their robots can run at over 3.7 meters per second and even do backflips (后空翻). The Wu Bot show took this further by having many robots work together and follow the music and lights perfectly.
⑤Some people wondered: will robots like these take the place of human performers The answer, according to the engineers, is no. Robots are good at doing dangerous or repeated movements, while humans bring real feelings and creativity to a show. The Wu Bot performance was not robots against humans—it was a team effort between human choreographers (编舞者) and machine performers. It showed how technology can help, not replace, human culture.
⑥As the show ended and the audience cheered, people felt that the Year of the Horse had arrived in a new and exciting way—not on four legs, but on two, powered by code, steel, and the human spirit of invention.
32.Why does the writer mention the Wu Bot performance at the beginning of the passage
A.To introduce a popular TV show. B.To lead into the topic of robots and tradition.
C.To explain how robots are made. D.To compare robots with humans.
33.According to the passage, how did engineers help the robots learn to move
① By studying how human muscles and joints work.
② By letting them practice millions of times in computer simulations.
③ By using remote (远程) control during the live show.
④ By creating computer programs based on how humans move.
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①②④ D.①③④
34.What can we learn from Paragraph 3
A.The robots were taught by Shaolin masters to fight.
B.The name “Wu Bot” combines (结合) martial arts and robot.
C.The robots can only perform Taiji moves.
D.Shaolin masters controlled the robots during the show.
35.Which of the following shows the structure of this passage
A. B.
C. D.

AI tools like ChatGPT are becoming more and more popular among students. Some use them to finish homework faster, while others worry it might be harmful. How do you use AI in your learning Share your thoughts!
Alex 7:30 p.m. 10 June I have to say I used to depend on AI too much. Whenever I met a hard math problem, I just took a photo and got the answer in seconds. But after failing my exams, I realized I learned nothing. Now AI plays different roles in my life. It helps me plan my time after school, like telling me whether to start with math or Chinese. When I’m stuck on a problem, it doesn’t give me the answer right away. Instead, it encourages me: “You can do it—try again!” After I finish all my work, it checks my answers and sorts (分类) my mistakes by type.
Mei Ling 8:15 p.m. 10 June When I’m out of ideas for my English essay, it gives me help, but never lets me copy them. It also reminds me to take breaks: “You’ve been writing for half an hour—stand up and stretch!” One time I felt upset about a low score, and AI sent me a comforting message: “Every step brings you closer to progress. I’m here with you.” Then it helped me fix my grammar mistakes one by one. Now it also helps me manage my time—planning when to study, rest, and exercise. AI makes me feel less lonely when learning.
Jun 9:02 p.m. 10 June My parents always said, “AI is just a tool.” Now I finally get what they mean. When I try many times to solve a physics problem but still fail, I will ask AI to explain it step by step. But it never stops there and even makes a new one for me to practice more. Besides, it helps me plan my study schedule in a wise way. Sometimes I feel so tired that I want to give up, and it says, “Hold on—you’re stronger than yesterday!” That gives me a feeling that homework doesn’t feel like a mountain anymore. AI is like a friend who climbs with me.

When you see a classmate who is well-dressed and speaks politely, are you more likely to think he is friendly and intelligent This is called the halo (光环) effect. It’s like the bright halo around the moon, making it hard for us to see things clearly.
In 1920, an American psychologist (心理学家) did a famous study. He asked officers to score soldiers (士兵) on several qualities such as intelligence, physical ability, and leadership. The results showed that if an officer thought a soldier was “physically strong,” he would also give high scores to the soldier’s intelligence and leadership. Later, in another study, two groups of people were shown the same description of a person —Group 1: “intelligent, hard-working, thoughtless, stubborn (固执的)”; Group 2: “stubborn, thoughtless, hard-working, intelligent”. People in Group 1 generally considered the person as “positive” while Group 2 saw him as “troublesome.”
The halo effect is a kind of cognitive bias (认知偏见). It means that when we judge others, we often let one strength or weakness “spread out” and affect our judgement of all their qualities. That’s because our brain likes to take shortcuts instead of collecting full information. We easily judge everything about someone just by one or two clear characteristics. The halo effect influences our daily life a lot, like making friends, shopping choices and self-evaluation (自我评价).
The halo effect itself is neither right nor wrong. The key point is how we use it. We must think carefully before making decisions. When making friends or choosing products, think more instead of judging too quickly. At the same time, we should pay attention to creating a nice first impression (印象) on others in social situations by having a good look or a polite attitude.
The passage mainly talks about the halo effect—we are so focused on one or two qualities of persons or things that we can hardly 50 , which is shown in a famous study. In a later study, after changing the order of the descriptive words of a person, 51 because of the halo effect. The reason for it is that our brain is too lazy to see the whole picture and it 52 to our everyday life. At last, to make good use of it, the writer suggests that 53 .

But when I looked up, I saw my deskmate Linda with a big umbrella. She said, “Grades don’t mean everything. I believe you can do better next time. ” Her words touched my heart and cheered me up. After that, we became good friends, and I studied harder and made progress.
This unforgettable moment always makes me think of Linda. I hope our friendship will last forever.
