The perfect way to wake up would be naturally, with no alarms. This can be achieved by making use of your body clock. Brains have a 24-hour clock that tells when you first start to feel sleepy and when you wake up, which makes it possible to get up each morning without an alarm. 19
> Keep to a sleep timetable.
20 Keep the same sleep schedule (时间表) every day, including weekends. Soon you should find that you wake up at about the same time each morning.
> 21
If your sleep needs aren’t being met, you’re not going to find it easy to wake up naturally in the morning. Think about how you feel when your alarm goes off. Are you fully rested or do you lack (缺乏) energy Once you’re getting enough sleep, you may find it easier to wake up at a set time each morning.
> Make use of the power of morning light.
Morning sunlight helps the body coordinate (协调) its clock. Most experts recommend getting at least 30 minutes of daylight every morning. 22 Over time, this helps you to reduce your reliance (依赖) on an alarm.
> Lower the lights before bed.
23 That will make it more difficult to wake up early without an alarm. About two hours before bedtime, start turning down the lights and avoid bright light from TVs, mobile phones and other screens.
A.How to wake up without an alarm
B.Make sure you’ re getting enough sleep.
C.This helps to set up a sleep-wake routine (常规).
D.Going to bed and getting up at the same time each day.
E.Too much light at night can have a bad influence on your body clock.

“How are you ” is a nice question. It’s a friendly way that people in the USA greet each other. But “How are you ” is also a very unusual question. It’s a question that often doesn’t need an answer.
The person who asks “How are you ” hopes to hear the answer “Fine”, even if the person’s friend isn’t fine. The reason is that “How are you ” isn’t really a question and “Fine” isn’t really an answer. They are simply other ways of saying “Hello” or “Hi”.
Sometimes, people don’t say exactly what they mean. For example, when someone asks “Do you agree ”, the other person might think, “No, I disagree. I think you’re wrong.” But it isn’t very polite to disagree so strongly, so the other person might say “I’m not sure.” It’s a nicer way to say that you don’t agree with someone.
People don’t say exactly what they are thinking when they want to finish talking with other people. For example, many talks over the phone finish when one person says “I have to go now.” Often, the person who wants to hang up (挂电话) gives an excuse: “Someone’s at the door.” “It’s time to cook.” The excuses might be real or not. Perhaps the person who wants to hang up simply doesn’t want to talk any more, but it isn’t polite to say that. The excuse is more polite, and it doesn’t hurt the other person.
Whether they are greeting each other, talking about an idea, or finishing a talk, people don’t say exactly what they are thinking. It’s an important way that people try to be nice to each other, and it’s part of the game of language.
24.It’s a friendly way that people say “________” in the USA to greet each other.
A.How are you B.I have to go now. C.Someone’s at the door.
25.According to the passage, what should a person say when he disagrees with someone
A.You are wrong. I disagree. B.I’m not sure. C.I’m sure I disagree.
26.A person is probably ________ when he says “Someone’s at the door.”
A.giving an excuse to finish talking.
B.hurting someone’s feelings.
C.talking to a person at the door.
27.Which rule should people follow for the game of language
A.Always say what you mean.
B.Don’t disagree with people.
C.Be nice to each other.

Chinese government quickly took action against companies breaking consumer rights after the 2025 3·15 Consumer Rights Gala showed illegal activities (违法行为) like food safety problems and AI-driven harassment (骚扰) calls. This yearly event, organized by China Media Group for over 30 years, has become a strong warning to businesses that cheat people.
After the Gala, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) carried out surprise checks overnight in nine provinces. They promised they will punish those who broke the rules seriously. For example, a factory in Guangdong was fined 2 million for selling poor-quality baby products. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology started looking into companies making illegal automated calls. Phone companies were ordered to shut down 15,000 phone lines that were not allowed by law, and websites took down over 200 tools for sending too many calls.
This year’s Gala showed serious problems in different industries:
—Some baby brands sold old products as new, putting babies in danger.
—Factories made single-use underwear without cleaning them properly.
—Shrimps were filled with harmful chemicals to make them 20% heavier, fooling buyers.
—A secret market sold tools for sending millions of unwanted calls.
—Stores sold unsafe electrical wires that could cause fires.
Food safety was a key focus. In Yancheng, Jiangsu province, 12 seafood companies were caught using harmful chemicals in shrimps. To solve this, SAMR will start a new national food safety reporting system in May 2025. This system will let people report problems through a mobile app, making the process more open and efficient.
China has worked harder to protect consumers in recent years. Last year, SAMR received 39.24 million online problems reported by people and helped them get back 5.16 billion. These efforts include stricter laws, public education programs, and working with technology companies to stop illegal activities.
